It's a calf. The police are way out of line on this one. They should be prosecuted under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which prohibits this type of cruelty. But as usual they will be above the law

That wasn't an aggressive calf. It was confused and scared. What a shame people couldn't get it into a garden and lock it in.
The way you treat animals says a lot about your character. Who would expect a serving police officer to be so callous and brutal on a residential British road? That was traumatic.

If you hit a farm animal on a road with your car it's strict liability. The farmer has to pay your damages. You don't have to pay for the animal. Does not apply to reared game birds.

Disgusting behaviour
These officers will be rewarded with suspension from duty with full pay for about 5 years while they wait for the disciplinary hearing. After that they will retire on full state pension following their diagnosis for PTSD. Then they will write books and make films about the whole incident and how it impacted them and their family's lives. They'll finish by setting up a so called non profit charity for animal cruelty which ironically no animals other than themselves will profit from. Another fine job officer!
What would you have done? Cops are just meant to spend days on end chasing a cow around to make sure it’s never harmed.

The guy filming this says it all. She wasn't charging him and you could hear how kind he was with her. You could also see she wasn't posing any danger. She just needed to be caught properly, without causing her any further distress.

Well you need to be careful , is an animal and such can behave in different ways if you dont know how to read the situation.
Cows are normally evasive to humans, but if they are out of the pack they may get scared. Also they may be defending the pack as well and charge you yeah.
They can also lick you hand if treated gently on the right situation.
It is not an exact science and in the country we know more how to deal with these situations

That is a reportable road traffic accident under the law, also it is disgusting and cruel and unnecessary.
If the calf was so dangerous and a threat to humans then armed police could have shot it or a vet tranquilised it. Bloody disgrace.
You know all police collisions get reported yes? Even non reportable ones. So if they reverse into a wall in the garage it gets reported. At minimum this officer will get a driving without due care charge, he may even get a criminal damage charge.

I have no experience with cows at all. Herded one back into the field from a busy road the other day using nothing but my hands and a bit of basic common sense. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour.
