  • Matt Spaiser visited Turnbull & Asser in New York City to learn about their collars from Bespoke Associate Daniel Stroupe. Mr Stroupe discusses Turnbull & Asser's standard collars as well as the collars that Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig wore as James Bond.
He also shows us inspiration for the limitless designs possible for bespoke collars and the different methods they can use to construct bespoke collars.

TheBondExperience isn’t it great. I’m also loving how they are using Bond as a conduit to tailoring. I’m learning so much. - Pb

I wonder why he didn't mention the Robert Gillote collar. That's the true Brosnan collar

The "Robert Gillotte" collar is a different collar, and a wider cutaway collar. Mr Gillotte had a different two-button collar in the 1990s that inspired the Tomorrow Never Dies collar, but it wasn't exactly the same as that one either either. -MS

Please, what would be the measure of the point length on your shirts?

The average collar from Turnbull & Asser has points of 2 7/8” long.

Steven best to contact T&A directly about bespoke prices and check their website for off the peg. It varies.

For the bespoke shirts, can one design his own collar?

It's something of a collaboration. They're going to work with you to get you the kind of collar you want, but they want to ensure it's something that will work for you. They mostly work off of the collars they have already, but there are many samples choose from. -MS

@@There_Will_Be_Bond Okay. Thank you for the information. I ask because I am intending to get a couple of shirts made with the club collar that Steve Buscemi wears in Boardwalk Empire and I was wondering if they would do it.

@@blakemcnamara9105 I'm sure they can do that. I'm sure they still have customers who need detachable collars for court, though with more conventional collar shapes. Ultimately, it's something you'll need to discuss with them to see if they will make it. -MS
