Please keep making these videos. I love climbing various mountains from the couch. ❤
Ahah.. me too.. while eating chips..
Good video champ
My ancestor was the first man to climb Mt. Washington!
Really like the way you film these videos. Simple, no cool edits and stock vlog music. Just you and the adventure. You mentioned K2, that sounds absolutely insane. Would be an interesting watch to see your prep for that.
lol I bet everything feels easy after Everest
Not at all each mountain is different
Washington is pretty dicey, a lot of deaths each year from unpredictable weather
Definitely not K2, Kanchamjunga and Annapurna. These are harder mountains than Everest
@@pras10_acoustician85unless youve climbed those mountains you are just talking.
@@Skyreem2020 there's something called general knowledge, which you lack immensely. Start reading books and novels written by experienced climbers.
yo love to see you not give up on this channel after everest well done
Bro you're my hero. Your Everest videos were epic. Keep up the amazing content! ❤
Thanks so much Ryan for taking us on your adventures! Going to Everest with you by video was an amazing adventure. It was truly one of the most enjoyable Everest video journals that I’ve ever seen!!!! I wish there was even more footage! You are so upbeat and encouraging! I would want you as a hiking partner for sure! Please keep us going on more adventures. Always be careful too!
So happy to see another video, I have missed the daily Everest ones 😊 hope you keep them coming just to keep busy and get more subscribers for your next climb on K2!
Dude does all that in the clouds and leaves with sunshine. Indeed you thugged it out!
It’s a truly special place up there.
Hey great to see ya back. I think those of us that watched your Everest climb were all hoping you would do more treks and make more videos. Ive never been to that state but i think its mt washinton ive heard can have really dangerous weather. Stay safe.
Glad you are doing more videos. Fantastic hike
Howdy Ryan! Wasted no time, excellent video. Can't wait to follow your journey to K2.
I went up in similar weather, late May. There were people turning back but I just kept pushing myself to get to that damn summit and I was smiling uncontrollably the whole way. And then of course once you get there there's a gift shop and a bunch of families who just drove up. The sight of that observatory in the merciless wind and low visibility is just otherworldly. Not to mention the creaks and moans of the structure that don't come across in video.
This video gives me “Alone” vibes which is one of my favorite shows. When you were looking at the slugs it reminded me of the guy who won the first US season who had to eat so many slugs to survive 😭
So happy to see a new video. Love hiking with you!
K2 next year? Let's go, I'm looking forward to seeing you on that beast😌🤙
Woohoo you‘re back, I missed your videos!!
I've spent a lot of time up in those mountains and kept imagining the views you were missing out on. Thankfully they blessed you with a little taste there at the end. The Presidential Range is no joke, especially in the weather you set out in. Great hike!
It's somehow so surreal to see you back in the States after climbing Mount Everest. But great to see more hiking videos from you!
Good to see you hiking the NH Whites! Please be very careful, even though they are lower than the Himalayas, they can be very dangerous and deadly.
Please read two books by Ty Gagne, Where You'll Find Me and The Last Traverse and get yourself a zero degree sleeping bag! Always be ready to spend the night up there in terrible, terrible conditions - even mid-summer. The weather can turn on a dime. Thanks for sharing!
I love this comment and couldn't agree more.
This guy spent 40 days hiking and camping to then hike Everest over a week.
He is also from NE. P sure he is competent, prepared, and has proper bug out procedures.
@@Reubachi- I'm pretty sure you're wrong. If something had happened to him (ie: a fall) up there, he did not have what he needed to spend the night in cold, wet conditions. He's in the learning phase, that's all. In Nepal, there is more support - when someone is alone like this video, it is a different story and survival is a different story.
@@Julia-b9x I agree Julia. I have spent most my life in these mountains, as well as the Smokies. People do not realize fully the danger of the weather here. Its the most unpredictable weather in the country.
@@truthseeker2222 - Yes, I wish people did more research and understood the real risks.
This is joyful, thank you! ❤
Find a great cobbler and have new soles put on your boots!
I remember climbing the valley way up to Madison Springs Hut years ago. It was my first solo hike when I was 18 years old. Thanks for the memories.
Love this vlog too Ryan ❤
your journey highkey inspired me to star running, definitely looking forward for more of your vids!
Thanks Ryan. Love your vids.
Great video Ryan, way to power through!
You found your thing man, I like to see it 🤜🏽🤛🏽😎❤️🔥
It’s really cool to see you don’t get desensitized after Everest and that you’re just as stoked about a day hike to the peak vs 42 days to the summit of Everest. You’re really good on camera dude keep it up. Definitely subbing.
Delighted to see you're back in action, that hike looked a little sketchy (ha, my new favourite word).
Great video, thank you! For next time it'd be so cool to see what you bring with you to eat :D
Great to see you gavent lost the climbing bug. But ve careful out there on your own.
“I’m currently thinking of turning back”… two seconds later… now we’re heading towards Adam’s. 😂 Safety first buddy. ✌️
Thank you for sharing!!!!
It was good to see your gear. Was just planning some camping trips with my French bulldog Hugo. Yeah that's all wee need.stay safe ❤❤
I bet those people on the train thought That kid is nuts 😂😂
Congrats! Love to see your climbs!
In this particular case, I would have preferred to see you make the decision to turn back, since you had considered it and pressed on despite the weather, which the sign warned about. It's nicer to see hikers prioritize safety over accomplishment, especially when they're essentially influencers. Even though it was safe and successful in the end, this is the kind of weather people can get lost or hurt in.
Take care in the future! Don't want to see something cut your youtubing short!
Can you do a sit down to reflect back on Everest, we like you rambling lol
I love your videos, Ryan. I heard you say that K2 is for next year, so you are still embracing the supreme challenge. I have been in these mountains on short hikes. Did Mt. Washington on the steam train, and ran into quite a few hikers at the observatory. It's a matter of opinion as to who looks "out of place". I really appreciated the hikers when I was at the observatory, because they had earned the beautiful views on a clear day. You must have noticed the buildings at Mt. W are TIED to the mountain! The weather is legendary. May the Lord bless and protect you on your adventures.
nice waterfalls -- and look at ryan getting the last hike out of his climbing shoes.
Boy oh boy do I miss my daily dose of Everest!
Was a good achievement summiting Mt everest ,got all this expensive gear leftover reinvest climbing k2.
If it was me at 18 id quit while I'm ahead n go live a little Come back to it when older 2 go for the 7 summits.
Personally love seeing you train in the White Mountains of NH. Too bad the weather obstructed the great views. Keep up the great work! Love your videos!
I read Second Ascent: The Story of Hugh Herr by Alison Osius long ago. As you probably know, he suffered a double amputation below his knees as a result of frostbite received in a January 1982 climb of Mt. Washington with Jeff Batzer. They stayed at Harvard Cabin before their climb. They left to begin an ice climb - Odell’s Gully. They succeeded and decided to keep going to the summit in the face of hurricane force winds, but they started back down and took a wrong turn. They were rescued by Cam Bradshaw. Another rescuer died which impelled Hugh to immerse himself in designing artificial limbs. He continued to climb rocks with two artificial legs and is known for his skill. He is local to you, at MIT.
Well done! You will have to go back when you have a chance as the views can be slightly more 'great.' The traverse is certainly a gift to us hikers in the Northeast.
Thanks for the video. Hike safe!
Absolutly gorgous scenery even though you wrre stuck in the rain clouds 😍
hell yeah, I did Washington back in march and I've been wanting to do the traverse as well.
Awesome to hear, I didn't go all the way through the traverse but to Mt washington and back is practically same distance + height. Gotta go back for the full but i had no one to pick me up at the other end hahaha
It's not mountain climbing, but if you ever want a good trail in the central U.S., the Buffalo River Trail in North West Arkansas is beautiful and has a good amount of elevation throughout! I would love to join you on a bit of adventure! Happy trails, friend!
Next time try Huntington ravine, six husbands, and the Flume slide trail. They're pretty miserable. All that slogging is good for mental toughness.
My treads are shot he says, so just let me just climb on these wet, moist rocks next to a drop off... 😮😊
i climbed mt washington when i was around 15 yrs old with some of my family, and it was a beautiful day, then within a couple miles of the summit the wind picked up to around 70 mph while there was painful hail and fog so you couldnt see far at all, or hear. good times.. the people at the top thought we were insane for climbing that day haha especially because the youngest one, my brother, was only 12 or 13 at the time, but he was a trooper, they drove us halfway down in one of those vans you saw
Nice work!! I still have to do the traverse, or even partial traverse myself. I’ve checked off all the presidentials and most of them in winter.. easier with a decent snowpack. Keep inspiring. Stay safe. Happy Hiking!!
You’re doing K2 next year? Holy shit, can’t wait for that one. 👍
Very nice! Thank you for sharing, and greetings from Canada!
Ryan Mitchell
I'm curious as to why you are planning to climb K2 so soon after mount everest?
Wouldn't it be better to wait until you are older and have more experience, It is after all really really dangerous, and I'm curious about your reason for doing it.
Its nice to see you back😊 and I for one would like to see you do more hiking and mountain climbing wherever you choose to go👣
But I do worry about you climbing K2.
Best of luck for all of your future endeavors 😊
I think he just likes climbing mountains and he has the funds to do it so no reason to wait
@Deb-mi1qx Most of the mountain climbing videos that you've watched are with unathletic old men and wimps. Ryan's a strong young man with athleticism, which is something the sport has rarely seen. Ryan will wipe his ass with K2.
@@drgonzoatmpls I hope so
@@Deb-mi1qx His group on Everest took a helicopter from basecamp back to Namche while Ryan trekked back. His Sherpa homie told him it would take 10 hours. Ryan made it back to Namche in like 7. I'm pretty sure Ryan set a record for being the youngest climber with the fastest time on his ascent from Camp 4 to the summit of Mount Everest. On summit day, Big Ry was hot on the heels of Sherpa homie all the way to the summit, while the rest of his group was struggling up from a long distance behind. Don't worry about young fella. He's setting records and doing backflips at 20,000 feet.😉
I just wonder what he’s gonna do after K2 like if he keeps climbing all of the 8000m peaks there won’t be anything else challenging once he’s 30
im gonna climb mount washington in about a month. I cant wait
That was entertaining! We live not far from there. Now we need to take that trek!
Loved this one! Im planning on doing Mount Washington in September it was nice to get a preview 😊
5:23 that okayyyyyyy sounded angelic
20 years ago I took the cog train to the top- we did it during the fall. It was an amazing experience.
Going east this year (from Michigan) instead of west. Planning to climb Mt Washington on July 20, weather permitting. This will be my first time in the Whities. Thanks for the beta Ryan! Looking forward to another adventure!
Hey Ryan I have truly enjoyed watching your adventure up Everest I can’t wait to see more. With that being said you mentioned K2 I’m curious as to your reasoning for tackling one of if not THE most dangerous mountain so soon. Would you not prefer to climb other 8k+ and other difficult climbs to build even more experience? But hey if that’s what you want to do I believe in ya I’ll be watching.
I drove up Mt Mitchell today, which is higher 😉 Seriously though - this is great and it’s a gorgeous range up there. I did Mt Washington a few years ago in September and it was like -20 and about 70mph at the observatory. Rime ice all over the place (and me). Temp below was in the 60s. I just did Pinkham Notch up and down. Were they not selling the chilli up there btw? That stuff is awesome and worth the hike alone.
Edit: hold up - K2 next year?! 😯
Loving these videos
Great that the K-2 training has begun!
Lmao you thought you'd be above the weather 😅
You should come to the Alps, there's a lot to climb!
A nice, sunny day wouldn't be much fun...lol. This is "excellent" training!
Was wondering if you would climb K2 and you will much respect and stay safe.
Don't ever underestimate Mount Washington or any 4k, above sea level elevation isn't everything.
Keep the videos coming Ryan, also do some gear reviews. What do you think would be the best shoes or boots to do the Everest base camp trek with?
Check out High Point, New Jersey. 1803 feet. Paved auto road to summit. No deaths this year.
Bunny might have a tick. Really dangerous .
free advice homie , start every video with your name , todays date , and the city your in or nearest to . KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK .
He really doesn't need to.
thank you ryan for this video! glad to see you! I don't know the United States but I like it! you are going to do K2!!!??? Really ??? Take care of yourself and change your shoes, 😊Looking forward to your next video!
I like your videos please keep uploading ❤❤
Al the best for K2 next year! But I hope you are prepared for the giant Serac 😊😊😊
Great video.. keep them coming!
That wind took the curl out of your hair lol
I did the same thing on Snowdon. Climbed to the top and saw a train I could have taken!😢
No rain gear, no sleeping bag, sketch boots and didn’t see any backup maps or flashlights. It can snow on Mt. Washington in July. I guess the Garmin rescue button gives you a sense of security.
There also a paved auto road up there and a train it's not the wilderness
@@mikehikes710 I climbed Mt. Washington with my father 3 times before I was 12. We never made the climb that unprepared. The mountain use to have the record for highest recorded wind speed at 200+ MPH. If bad weather hits you above the timberline - the railway, the road or the Garmin rescue button might not save your life if you can’t ride out extreme weather. K2 is 100x harder than Mt Washington with barely any companies to short- rope you up the mountain. Hardcore climbers team up and tackle the ascent together and it’s still an outrageously dangerous and technical challenge.
@@DJ-nn6vg - Dude- reset the attitude please. He's learning, just like everyone learns, including yourself. He's more prepared than most of us were at that age. Decrease the negativity, and people will be more apt to listen to you.
@@Julia-b9x He isn’t learning, he is paying $$$ to avoid doing all the tough work that should be done before summiting mountains like Everest. Do you want your heart surgeon to have someone else take the tough tests for him? JFK Jr. had this same attitude towards flying and look what happened to him and his passengers. Let’s see how he does leaving the cell phone and Garmin at home.
@@DJ-nn6vg - He is learning, just like we all learn. Everest was clearly a great adventure - but that doesn't mean he's not learning. People learn things they would do differently the next time on every hike. We should be encouraging him to learn more & guiding him where to learn those skills, rather than condemning him for using the skills he has to date.
No days off eh? 😝 glad to see your doing good. ✌️
you have the best footage
Hey Man i love your content, keep it up💪
Dang that's crazy I hiked the valley way loop last week
Please tell me what camera setup you use! Amazing
Looks great! Keep it up.
Ryan any weather you experience now is nothing compared to Everest. It’ll be a breeze lol🇨🇦
Glad you made it up and back in that weather! Hope your feet were dry by camp. What do you use for tick prevention? They scare me more than the hike! You’re a native NE, so you know how prevalent they are becoming. What do you do you use to ensure they’re not hitching a ride or camping with you?
I think that was the sort of weather you are supposed to turn back!
VERY COOL! Be careful! ❤
Might not be a bad idea to bring earplugs for that wind! Damn that must have been brutal.
You should do it again on a nice day. It's quite pretty.
Quality vid do more of these
I love this videos ❤
They are called cairns in rhe UK. Piles of stones. You add to them.
great video Ryan
wait dude you mentioned K2 next year -- are you really all in for that? whoa. tell us more when you can.
Another cool video man
Amazing view😂 regardless of the fog. What is the purpose of the mask/scarf?
Your training grounds the big 4in the north half of the A.T. Palmerton,Wildcat, the NOTCH,and Katahdin.Washington in that weather great training.Be cool if you did a thru hike before K2 bust out 20-30 mile days that would set you up i bet.😁
