I haven't been in Clifton and 13 and 1/2 years and my family tells me it has really changed a lot . Too bad they had to teardown that big monolith on top of the Burlington building ... it was a landmark and could be seen from miles around and it was iconic , from the time of mid-century architecture and it should have been preserved ... but no not in Clifton . I remember as a little kid when it was called the Penn fruit supermarket . I also hear that the Bungalow across the street is no longer The Bungalow and that is just really a shame .
I didn't live in Clinton Heights. But, I spent a lot of time there, especially as a kid. My mom & dad would always take me to The Bazaar, the International House Of Pancakes (as IHOP was known then) the fast food places across from The Bazaar, and Gaudio's at Christmas for decorations, among other places in Clinton Heights.
I'm from west Philly but me and my family constantly traveled through there every other week and stayed at either the k mart or the Burlington coat factory and I miss it like hell cuz it brings back a whole lot of memories
Too bad they didn't Preserve the Burlington as a landmark... it has history... I remember is a kid it was called the Penn Fruit . And I hear the Bungalow is no longer called The Bungalow and it's something different... that's a shame because it was The Bungalow for all those decades .
Now I hear the Putt-Putt is gone... Bungalow is no longer Bungalow that's right... Penn fruit Burlington building is gone.... I think they even took down the pizza slut.... and I hear they're trying to build a middle school where Clifton field is right on Springfield Road
