Is it just me, or does anyone else get distracted from the story by how beautiful the characters are? 😍

That is because they are mulatto... half white. If they were African, they would have much darker skin and no caucasian features, as these a.i. characters do.

a side lesson i learned for mothers from this story is not to force your children to be with someone they obviously dont want to be with, because you're not only being selfish but you might possibly ruin your child or someone else's life with your decision
So true. Dotun told his mom that he wanted someone else and his mom's solution is to make Funke a guinea pig to see if her son could get over the girl she didn't like.
I know of a man who sent the wife to her parents place once his mother passed away and dey share 4 children he doesn't want to divorce her caus in S.A the wife is entitled to half of everything he owns
I love this story because Funke is rescued by another woman, the queen who is like a mother to her. In the end, she finds a man who recognises her value after all she has been through. She finally gets the life she deserves. ❤
These stories talk about how women have suffered in the past times, women have suffered a lot of shame and degradation 😢
So Dotun's mother is the devil. She knew her son loved someone else and pushed an innocent girl into a pit of fire to satisfy her vanity. How did the mother expect Dotun to treat his wife while he had someone else in his heart? She set them both up for failure. It doesn't matter how handsome or good a man is, if he doesn't love you, you are the only one going to cry. Poor Funke is the biggest victim! Her mother-in-law got off too easy.

@@ukht_aleealee8488 Very true! But by all accounts, Funke was beautiful and interesting yet Dotun didn't like her, why? Quoting my mom, when you dislike someone, even when they do good it seems evil. Funke never stood a chance because, Dotun, no matter how I dislike his treatment of Funke was loyal to the end, he only liked one woman and that just didn't happen to be Funke. if he had been quick to like Funke what about his lover? Can such a fickle man really be trusted?
The reality, especially in the past where wives were completely dependent on their husbands is that women in marriages always got the short end of the stick. Dotun's mother knew this yet placed Funke in a position where she'd be a receptacle for resentment. For all we know, Dotun thinks his mother and Funke connived to rob him of his lover and force the marriage. Funke didn't know Dotun loved someone else, maybe Dotun didn't know Funke was also a victim; but what we do know is that Dotun's mother knew both and took advantage of her position to force her son and screw over an orphaned girl because she knew no matter how wronged Funke felt, no one would seek justice for her. It's easy to say Dotun must be kind because we have the god's perspective and know Funke did nothing wrong; but there are many sides to the story, If the story was told from Dotun's lover's perspective for example I'm sure it'd be an entirely different story with Funke as the villain who worked with the evil mother in law to scheme against her marriage.

I am Latina and if there is a culture I have always admired is the African/Nigerian culture. One of my best friend is from Nigeria. I have a beautiful leather fan with the shape of Africa in the middle he brought me last trip to homeland. Their garments are so amazing,including the head garments that are a same pattern as the dress. You relating the story has me mesmerized I love the accent of the African culture when speaking English. I had to subscribe love your stories and the way you relate them. TY for making me happy. ❤
