Worlds 2023 - Johnstone Pipe Band Thursday Practice

  • At a fairly crowded Glasgow Green, Johnstone Pipe added their instruments to the mix on the Thursday before the Worlds.
    A few jitters were evident but the Band has a gitty determination about it which is appealing. Grade One is a tough nut to crack and hopefully the next few years will see them consolidate and move up the ranks...

    Are the girls just twirling or do they actually play in the pieces? Has me confused

      They do play, but the flourishing is part of the performance. As the tenor drums are tuned differently, not every drum is played every time the sticks approach the head. It can be hard to hear in a recording - or even in real life, if you are a distance away.
