Elder Wirthlin’s family later attributed his noticeable shakiness to locked knees. After then-Elder Russell Nelson helped support his friend through the talk, you can hear Elder Wirthlin’s “Thank You.”

Elisabeth J How wonderful! You must’ve had a wonderful great granddad!!! I remember this talk! Was it his last before he passed on? This brought tears to me, because of his age and the struggle he was having giving the talk and having Elder or President Nelson come up and stand and hold him... so very moving. And that was the pure love of Christ!

When I look at how Elder Wirthlin endured so he could give us this message, it makes me want to take it deeply to heart. It is truly inspired.

@@MSBowen-pk6ww Great Question. It is Because he is the only one to hold all the ordained keys that are the same as the Prophets of old. He is what is known as a Prophet, Seer and Revelator, which means the Lord works directly with him through Revaluation so the Prophet see’s, reveals, teaches and testifies of all the truths of the Jesus Christ for all mankind to know. He is called to serve the Lord as the Prophet for all the Lord’s children in this day. This is not his professional aspersions, he is a world renowned heart surgeon, this calling as the Prophet is a heavy responsibility and seriously demanding service, because he loves the Lord and loves his fellow man (and woman;), and wants us all to truly know the Lord.
@@MSBowen-pk6ww We have a hierarchy of leaders with bishops the first leaders (besides our parents) and are similar to pastors. Bishops are led by Stake Presidents, whose leaders are members of the Quorum of the Seventy, then the Twelve Apostles, then the Prophet, then The Lord Jesus Christ.

I know, right? We've started going back in groups of 30 and my biggest fear has been being noticed and asked to speak. I have a history of fainting and gastrointestinal distress when asked to do so.
And sharing it over Zoom to those not in the chapel makes it worse. Camera....

aw it terrifies me. No, we dont have excuses. We have reasons that are most likely unsound. Our hardness on ourselves & fear. Fear of what is the question. When we allow jyst this kind of sweet spirit to guide us, we simply cannot NOT Speak. ❤
I was at that session and it's my most powerful memory from any general conference. Everyone there was praying for him and then we saw one of the Apostles get up and support him and it made the spirit there even more powerful; though I didn't remember who the other apostle was until seeing this video. So cool to see it was President Nelson. I'll never forget it and now I'll never forget that it was the current prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I wasn't there in person, but I remember watching it on TV and just praying that someone would hold him up. Heavenly Father answered many prayers that day when he Pres. Nelson stood up to help him.
@@MSBowen-pk6ww This is from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The structure of this church is the same as Christ's church when He was alive, with a prophet and 12 apostles.

@@MSBowen-pk6ww Apostles live today. Christ has once again called apostles to lead His church, as well as a prophet of God. Together they give us commandments and offer blessings from God for the great changes and challenges that are taking place in the world. I know this is true by the Spirit of the Holy Ghost, and you can as well by reading The Book of Mormon, Another Testiment of Jesus Christ, and praying to know of it's truth.
I love Elder Wirthlin so much. He gave profound talks and gave his all to the very end of his life.
In 1985 Elder Wirthlin ordained me a Bishop. I remember this talk well, and by the end of it many of us who loved him were bearing him up with Elder Nelson. Come what may, and love it!
I hope that in that moment, as well as when President Monson was struggling during one of his October talks, they felt our prayers and support. I’m sure there were millions of us praying for them.
As I'm getting ready to be baptized this July 10th, 2021. I have been very emotional that, I'm finally home with my eternal Father and my Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ. I was emotional about bearing my feelings and testimony. But now I'm so inspired to bear my testimony of God our eternal Father and his beloved son Jesus Christ and the restoration of his church through Joseph Smith. I testify that Jesus Christ lives and that prophet Russell M. Nelson is the true living prophet of Jesus Christ and I say these things in the name of thee beloved son Jesus Christ Amen 🙏

President Nelson is a DANG good prophet! What a tremendous honor it is to see the good example of the servants the Lord calls. I know the Lord looks over His church and guides it in all things!

President Nelson was not called to be the Lord's earthly executor because he was A physician who repaired the physical hearts of his fellow sojourners through morality, he was called to be the Lord's prophet because he is acquainted with THE Great Physician who heals what we cannot!

President Nelson was a fantastic and admired physician. He did two of my fathers open heart surgeries. Unfortunately his third was done by somebody else and he passed away two weeks later. 😍❤ I miss my dad so much!!!
@@Mommabear2u2 yes, it is so hard to lose one to death. It hurts because of the temporary separation. But we are so blessed to have the plan of Salvation. For or oldest brother Jesus Christ and for the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and knowledge we have. We must continue to share it all our days. Families,, friends are forever!!
So touching! You know President Nelson said a prayer for him to help finish his talk and give him strength. He almost completely stopped shaking by the end. Got something in my eye 😭.
I have tremors like this. I understand how he felt. My son said," God chooses his Prophets and this was one reason God chose President Russell M. Nelson as our Prophet" God bless him.

I thank thee Lord that thou preserved this Apostle so he could give thy message to us. Though his body was shaking and trembling his spirit soared like an eagle!
"There is no pain it cannot soften, no bitterness it cannot remove, no hatred it cannot alter." Writing this out at 1 AM, another late night because of chronic pain. I know there is no pain His love cannot soften. Through His love and the love of my wonderful family, I can find peace despite pain.
"Often the greatest manifestation of love are the simple acts of kindness and caring we extend to those we meet along the path of life."
No greater words were spoken and manifested by both these men of God.
Their words+ their actions say it All..

I was there, pretty close to their right side. Elder Nelson was holding Elder Wirthlin’s belt with his right hand. I was riveted and praying so hard for him. I wonder if anyone had been prayed for simultaneously by so many people ever before. When he mentioned the Savior trembling because of pain it took my breath away. President Nelson has a photo of this moment on his desk.
Ok you got me. The tears wouldn't be held back on that one.
I was 3 months old when this happen, and I do not remember Elder Worthlin at all, but now I love him, and this was a beautiful moment. President Nelson is a great man and a prophet of God. The talk was great too. So basically everything about this was beautiful.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
At this point in time, Elder Nelson was senior to Elder Worthlin having been sustained in April 1984 and Elder Worthlin was two years later. This was a very tender moment for both brethren.
My heart goes out 2 him.I wonder if this was his last talk?I saved the church news when they announced his passing he was one of my fave.I've never forgetten the talk he gave when he said he couldn't wait for the resurrection so he could once again feel the wind blowing thru his hair! Another one of my fave around that time was Neil A. Maxwell.I love Bruce R. Mcconkies last talk! I've watched it a few times now!

I am bawling! That was so touching! I feel such an amazing spirit after hearing that! Seeing him me feel Gods love toward him and when President Nelson held him up, he was showing Gods love through him! What an amazing talk!
Simply put, our leaders practice what they preach! They are living examples, shining lights showing forth the attributes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Who could not love them?

I couldn’t concentrate when Elder Wirtlin gave this talk. I felt so bad for him. I watched it today a cried like 6 year old getting a new puppy. So touching and fitting that he’s talking about love and then received some.

when you are old most likely you want to rest and be at peace, but this man choose to instead bear his testimony of the love of good with the lasts ounces of energy he had, with all the weight of a lifetime over his shoulders he did not stop until he said his simple message.

President Nelson showed us how to take care of our brothers and sisters. Please take care of your elderly family members because of them you are here.
If memory serves me, I was in the MTC watching this. We all felt the love of God and His son Jesus Christ rush into that room as we watched this great act of love! What a feeling it was to be there with 14 thousand missionaries as this apostle of the Lord bore his testimony and another apostle of the Lord stood to show his love and support for his fellow apostle.
Such soft spoken words that carry much power. My father spoke 3 words over,and over every day for a year before he passed. He would say " Forgiveness is key" .
I absolutely love how our Priesthood is so kind and powerful, our Apostles and Prophets are such amazing men . They give comfort in such an amazing way. The power of the Lord is so prevalent in these men , I feel truly honored and blessed to be able to witness their works among men.
I was a teenager and have remembered this moment very clearly ever since. I remember crying at the love Elder Wirthlin was portraying as he was so determined to stay there to deliver his special message to us out of his love for us and the Lord. His love expressed here as he spoke about love has stayed with me.
The most powerful sermon I have ever seen. I can't stop weeping. Our dear Elder Wirthlin! Our precious President Nelson! O, Father, help me be like them! O, the joy of the pure love of Crist! May it abide in me and with all of God's children. May we all draw near to Heaven and attain unto the fullness of the stature of Christ! Amen.

I so enjoyed Elder Wirthlin's message and President Nelson's hug and support, It so fully demonstrated the love between the Lord's anointed who lead the church by demonstrating thethe Pure Love of Christ. to the world. I fully sustain the First Presidency and the quorum of the 12and at the same time I know that Jesus Christ whose church this isreveales His will to His servants.

Elder Nelson provided the physical support and yes I to remember praying for him. Watching this today knowing what happened allowed me to grasp the full beauty of both the word and the deed of this message.

I remember praying for Elder Worthlin during this. This we the last conference on my mission. And I remember the mic capturing Elder Worthlin saying Thank you to then Elder Nelson. Thank you for leaving it in the cut!
