For gaming the GBC is the obvious choice but for music and sound the dmg01 can't be beat, you actually hear decent bass from the dmg which is barely heard on the color, I have both and I'm an audio engineer and was actually comparing these two at home just yesterday for recording purposes but both are great for the nostalgia factor, long live the gameboy!
i love the GBC because its in color and it takes 2 AA battery for the same amount of battery life also even tho the GB looks more esteticly pleaseing the GBC is comfertable and more portable than the GB

I have other Nintendo systems as well including the Switch. If the original Game Boy had failed bad enough then there would be no GB Pocket's, no GB Colour's, no GB Advance's/Advance SP's, no DS's/3DS's/2DS's and no Switch units.
I like the GBC more than the original GB. It has what I want. Including to the portable everyone easier and it has wireless multiplayer thing on it, which I found it interesing. The GBC exclusive games have much better sound because GBC being twice as fast from the original GameBoy ("DidYouKnowGaming?" facts!).
I have the same experience linke you had. My mother doesn't even want, that i get a Gameboy. She prohibites me every thing that has To do with Nintendo :-(
The screen although is bigger it is very low quality and worse then the original gameboys. It can't display color and isn't very loud. PLUS the gameboy color is small enough to fit in your pocket which ruins the total purpose of the gameboy pocket

The tint and blurriness on the original gb makes a pocket or color way better. But the original gb is really good for a collection and sometimes I just prefer it over the other gameboys
I kinda appreciate ghosting, lol. I also really like original gba because of that. It feels buttery and nostalgic. And, IMO, some games looks better in b/w (or green/black to be exact). Real shadows behind the pixels make pictures more textured, and... I don’t not, it just feels good. Gbc is just more pleasant to use, though.

There are no Gameboy Color exclusive games that I care about, so for me it comes down to comfort and coolness. The classic Gameboy is more comfortable for me to hold and it is more interesting from a historical and coolness perspective, so it is the one that I use.

Then came PS3 and GTA 5-I had to have it.An Nintendo again made me happy when the ZELDA . So I bought SWITCH. Nintendo was always different from the competition and I love it.

i got the orginal GB from my Dad then my mom bought me a GC......gave the GB to my cousin and I still have my GC in mint condition......would never go back to the GB

The wireless infra-red port is actually rarely used. You'll be using the link cable more often.

I got one with no games for 25 canadian at a pawn shop. I wouldnt pay much more than that unless you live in a small town or something.
