Looking good! Might have to try this. My fat PS2 fan is sounding like a blender! With its hard drive bay and the ability to load ISOs, the fat version of the PS2 is still king imo!
Hey Dan. Thanks for watching. I truly appreciate it. The install was easy and works amazing. I am actually corresponding with Tim, the creator. I am hoping we can create some more simple to install products.
Hey Andre, thanks so much for your kind words. I know I don't have the best videos, but I try hard. I'm very happy you enjoyed the video. I hope you decide to purchase one from my friend. It's a great product.
Ended up picking one of these up.... makes a world of difference. Def consider this product if you want a quieter ps2 fat! Print quality of the adapter is top notch and of course you get all the benefits of the Noctua fan. Highly recommended.
Nice tutorial video. If you put the towel on the desk and the PS2 on top it will protect it from scratching and make it more secure by stopping it sliding about. HTH
Using the wrong fan. It requires 12v and the original fan runs at 7v. Noctua does sell an A6X25 5v version of that fan specs You will have to switch it out or wait for the seller to do it himself. But i think may still perform worse than the original. As for the original fan, it is a Nidec D06R-07B1S1 there should be plenty of other similar replacements out there aswell or you can refurb the original fan for it to run quieter.
Just installed this on my PS2 fat and I had to get my phone's camera out to make sure the fan was actually on (just redid my retro setup and my cables are zip tied to length so couldn't pull it out much). Could feel air a bit but wanted to see the blades spinning. Went from noisy on a replacement PS2 fan I got on amazon years ago to silent.
These console don’t over heat they barley make enough heat to overheat. The fan in the phat PS2 is mostly there to give the power supply some cooling that’s it the heatsink disputes the heat mostly which ain’t much like this is no PS3 or PS4 or even the PS5 that generates a lot of heat. But do what you like
They definitely can and do overheat and you will get the flickering red light and the console shutting down on you. This fan is really an upgrade for a noisey or broken fan but people need to be careful because my Noctua as per this product isn't pulling enough volts to cool the ps2 sufficiently after an hour of gaming. So for me there's more work on this product thats needed.
Hey man. I actually got the console like that. The guy said he had to track down the shell and took a long time to find it. I'm not sure where he got it from. I do know that replacement shells are most likely coming from Japan and other countries
Hi, does anyone know a Brand-Model to recommend fo INTERNAL REPLACEMENT? I know the FAN for PS2 FAT must be 60x60x15mm, 7V powered with a 2Pin connector (7v and 2pin is not so common)..
Rusty? Or dusty? If it's rust, you have a huge problem! Live in an area with high humidity? Spilled water damage? As for cleaning, soft bristle toothbrush and 99 isopropyl alcohol. There are loads of videos on how to gently clean electronic boards with this method. Do you have a picture btw? Another thing that comes to mind is a busted capacitor and leaking acid.
I just installed one of these but the fan won't ever go on, whether it's idle, in the browser, or in a game. Put my old OEM fan back in and it still works, so I don't think my system is the issue. I'm using a 50001 NTSU-U model if that makes a difference. Anyone have any solutions for this? Did I just get a bad fan?
Oh wow. Do you have a PC that you could possibly plug the fan into just to test it? It is possible that the fan is faulty but its unlikely. Anything could happen though. I am unaware of any power differences etc for the other models.
@@Kyle-jl5tu are you good at soldering? Maybe it can be repaired. If not then contact Tim for a replacement part. If you need help contacting him just let me know. I can contact him directly.
@@Appl3sandgrapes are you using the same PS2 model 50001? Maybe it's an issue with the adapter to those specific consoles. The disc drive shielding of the PS2 in this video look quite different from mine, so I'm guessing it's a different model PS2 than the 50001
The ps2 fat doesnt overheat right?? i have one with the games loading thought an hdd but i have been with my doubts about if its cool overheat or not.I use the original bay for the hdd so only accepts ide , im planning to aquiare some generic adapter that allows me to change the one that i have for an 500gb sata because the downside with ide its that the maximum capicity are really low in these ones.
Does it hurt anything that my network adapter is slightly coming out? The fan comes up and all, and my HDD seems to be working, but the plastic gets in the way. Should I just cut it a little? Or did I screw up? 3000 here with 8 screws.
Just installed it in my 3000 series and it was pretty flush. Recheck your alignment and if that's ok then maybe you can sand down what is in the way. But as long as you are getting a good connection on the hdd, its not a huge issue.
Sadly you can't find them Stateside. You might be able to find them out of Brazil or Japan. You'd probably be able to find a Smoky Blue PS2 fat in the Japanese region. Then just softmod it.

This is a great video, you are smart guy. I hope you are making more videos like this. (sorry for bad english,i am from croatia)
Holly heck dude, this is epic!
lol thanks bro. I need to load the hdd up with roms
I would put some LED light on that transparent Ps2. Will look so great.
Great Video!
I installed mine today👍🏾
Awesome! My buddy Tim is a great guy

The 5v option is not better either, the 7v line is bound to burn it out. The nidec fan from the 5000 series is the correct choice. :]

uhhh, what happened to the review video of the PS2 cooling mod, or at least of it running a little bit so we can hear the outcome?
these transparent cases are impossible to find.........
Would be cool to be able to get a network adapter with a built in tray for 2 switchable 2.5" drives.
I'm sure it could be done with a switch of some sort. It wouldn't be able to be hot swappable though. A tray wouldn't be hard to design.
I realize this is an old video but I have to ask, where did you get that case? I'd kill for that, it looks awesome!

Might wanna replace all the capacitors on the board as well. Since the console is over 20 years old.
good idea sir.
if mine is a SCPH-50001 would this fan still be able to work on mine ?
Yes, it will fit 30000 and 50000 fat PS2s.
Mine is getting rlly rusty on I think it's the heat sink or the crime bit how do I clean

@@thegametinkerer I tested it in my PC and the fan itself worked, so I guess the problem is with the little adapter that connects it to the PS2 board

I bought one as well and am having the exact same issue as you are for what it's worth to you

I have never seen one overheat in all the years I have had one.
Hello. Did you bought the transparent case? Where can i get one? It looks great.
Hello. I bought this console with the shell installed already. Unfortunately you cannot find the shells anywhere.

i looking for a ghostcase 2023 :C
Only suggestion I have is to looks at sendago (japanese site) and maybe AliExpress. I haven't seen any on Ali but you never know.
Where can I find a Clear she'll like that🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I soft mod mine so i can play off harddrive
Cool. It's a great mod
Does it seem like it pushed out less air than the stock one for you?
no it pushes more air out
That is a Noctua fan and they are a very reputable company. Extremely quite, high airflow, reliable, and relatively cheap.
will this work with the 39001/N (network model)
hello. It should work. I believe they are the same except the connectors on the back of the unit
Where did you get the shell?
I picked up the PS2 in a local buy. He guy I bought it from bought it form eBay I believe.
