@@Navytron1989 You're not quite right. The UK has banned handguns and assault rifles, but only a small percentage of officers carry guns. In Northern Ireland, all police officers carry firearms, while in the rest of the UK, firearms are only carried by specially-trained firearms officers.

Because in the UK, the regular police do not carry guns. They essentially have to call in special armed units for situations like these. That and the UK police are more interested in cracking down on wrong-think than actually enforcing the law.

Not ready to go there. Most likely that teenager was 18 or 19 and was involved in gangs and drugs and this was an attack over turf or money. Or that teen had attacked or killed someone else and this was revenge.

It's not a question of whether an object is dangerous. It is a question of whether the usefulness outweighs the dangerousness. Knives are extremely useful and rarely dangerous. With guns the jury is out. With assault rifles, the danger FAR outweighs the usefulness (which is basically ZERO for the vast majority of people.)

Why ban things that are useful? The utility that comes from knives, pencils, forks, and chopsticks far, far outweighs the harm. And cars also, which the other commenter mentioned. It probably WOULD make sense to ban swords, however very few people are killed by swords, so it's almost a non-issue. Assault rifles have ZERO utility to the vast majority of people, so only idiots think those should be legal.
