- Greetings from GDC 2024! This year, VGHF ran the Game History Gallery at the 2024 Game Developers Conference. Step inside our booth and see what we showed game developers this year.

Beautiful custom controllers. Great presentation and mission
That gallery looked awesome! Great job you are all doing! Keep up the good work 👏
Seeing SimTunes on display was great. An underrated game by the fellow who would eventually give us Electroplankton if I'm not mistaken. I loved SimTunes so much as a kid. The interweaving of colors, shapes and sounds was so mind blowing to me. It was basically my Mario Paint.
Great video! Really enjoyed the booth and meeting you all IRL. Hope you return next year :)
Man video game preservation is like the only thing I've been good at in my life what I would give to be an advocate thanks for preserving this stuff guys 🙂
This is really cool. Really wish I could've been there now.
This video kinda made me well up, idk why, well done.
Cool video! Always happy to see more work from the foundation and Frank! Also, Hbomberguy spotted?!?!?! 1:37
yo it is!!
We're glad he could stop by our episode of MTV Cribs
Might be too expensive and too far away - but might you be (not even this year but someday in the future) at GamesCom in Germany?
It's the biggest Gaming Convention in the world in regards to visitors and it got a cool Retro Hall where you'd fit right in! Would love to see this in person and get a GameBoy Priner photo as a keepsake ;-)
Keep up the good work!
Someone asked us about Gamescom at the show! Yes, it's a question of cost/logistics. We did this as an official function of GDC and we'd probably need a similar level of support to do something like this other events.
What a lovely tour of a lovely gallery. I really enjoyed the thought that went into each piece selected and it was nice seeing familiar titles (one of which I got to play years ago at a Finnish art museum too) as well as unfamiliar ones. Thank you for the important work you continue to put in.
Very cool. Lots of interesting stuff! Love to see 5 games I'd never seen before with a context to get interested. Wonderful to show games with that story, the people behind the game, the context of the time. Infinitely more relatable than picking a random ROM from a list. Love the work ye do!
Great work Frank!! thanks for your efforts in preservation!
this rules! thanks for all your hard work, and for uploading the video.
I didn't have a chance to go to GDC this year (GDC is extra expensive if you're travelling from Europe) but I loved hearing about this exhibit on the Insert Credit podcast. Thank you for the video!
Such an incredible exhibit!
This was such a cool exhibit, I hope you guys get to come back next year! I think I dropped by at least once every day of the show, haha. (You can even see me in the video at 8:25 trying very awkwardly not to look into the camera 😄)
With regards to interactive video art that doesn't strictly qualify as a videogame, that Radiohead Kid Amnesia thing on PS5 is actually really interesting. And speaking of preservation, it sucks that it's just not available on the PS store anymore. There was clearly a lot of incredible work by artists and programmers that went into making it.

Alter Ego sounds really cool! Do you have any plans to release that custom version as a romhack or something? I'd love to check it out
I do NOT like how driven by ulterior motives the beginning feels. What should have been an agnostic look at the history of video games feels tainted by modern politics.
I love what you guys are doing here but please, your job is to preserve the past, not alter it. Stick to it.
What modern politics? Showing off different backgrounds and how their vision affects the games they made?
Nah.
@@GameHistoryOrg wow, how professional of you...
@@declanhenshaw1598 just watch the beginning, I'm not going to explain it.
@@call_me_maple Please do because I don’t understand how.
