  • This is a ukulele lesson on how to pick a familiar Hawaiian fingerstyle sound. Ukulele tabs are shown as we work through fingerpicking a couple different patterns over a D7-G7-C vamp.

Absolutely beautiful. My husband was born on Molokai and we lived on the Big Island for several years. I play banjo and I want to learn to play ukulele in the real style that he loves. So thank you!

Aloha Brian, this is a brilliant lesson for such an iconic Hawaiian sound. Great alternate variations to learn whenever using the C major vamp. Mahalo nui loa.

Great riff and lesson, Brian. This sounds like Hawaiian Medley done by Hal Kinneman. Can you please do a follow up lesson showing the full song? Much appreciated!

On a sidenote, can you tell me what kind of strings you are using? I’m guessing, Aquila Lava because they’re black, but I could be totally wrong. Mahalo.
