The “where’s Aang” part cracked me up. If anybody can bob and weave better than Kuvira its Aang. One thing Kuvira also did that Aang learned but Korra clearly didn’t is to wait before striking at the right moment. We saw that Korra learned the basics behind airbending technique in Book 1, didn't we? At the pro-bending match, she utilized airbending form to avoid attacks and caused her opponents to expend their own energy and stamina.
Arguably, Korra would've done so here if she was in a clearer state of mind, but it's obvious that she's still suffering from PTSD.

Notice Kuvira's fighting style: she is well grounded in the horse-stances of regular earth-bending, but instead of blocking as is usual for earth-bending, she dodges making more like airbending and she redirects energy like a waterbender. Coupled with metalbending and armor that comes off in pieces as a supply of ammunition, making Kuvira such a formidable opponent. She also always has a plan, even in her improvisation during fighting, whereas Korra still goes in without a real plan and though she is learning and growing during the course of the series, it seems to be the hardest habit for Korra to break. The fourth season is in my opinion the strongest, and I still regret there wasn't a season five.

Its not that she went in with out a plan, her plan from the start was to talk things over. But other characters forced her hand.
The problem is not only is she still suffering from ptsd which without, she would have won the fight. The bigger problem (which i think people forget) Korra has not trained, prepared, or even truly fought in 3 years. She doesnt even have the muscles that she used to. And shes going up against a highly decorated soldier.

      PTSD fucks people up
Also I’m not saying I dislike Aang’s character, I love his character, I’m just saying they chose to steer away from exploring his trauma deeper in a way that feels less human. Part of that is probably because the my were trying to make a specific kind of show (at the time)

I wouldn't say he was COMPLETELY outclassed by her, but yes, most likely Azula would've won in a 1-v-1 at that point. mid diff at least, but definitely not a stomp. ESPECIALLY with Avatar State.
I don't really see much justification for her being such a huge threat in terms of a Bender....but this kinda goes into the problems with LoK's normalization of unique Bending abilities. Reason you could say Azula is posed as a unique threat is because she knew Lightningbending AND Blue Firebending, both of which are special forms of Firebending that are exclusive only to the best of Firebenders. In LoK? They made Metalbending pretty much mainstream, where a whole city of people can do it, plus a whole police force. So it's not nearly as impressive when seeing Kuvira, a basic Earth+Metalbender, take out our Avatar. This is partially what makes Kuvira such a boring & uninteresting villain.

Also blue firebending is not even impressive for anyone but the viewers. It's never once brought up in the show, making it such an irrelevant point that I'm not sure why you think it made her a threat. I think of it like this- the metal on Kuvira is like skin on her back. It's almost like its personal to her... like it's part of her chi and energy. Korra would probably have to put in a lot of effort to metal bend the armor on Kuvira, and because Kuvira is wearing the armor and it's such in close proximity, Kuvira wouldn't even have to lift a finger to keep the metal from being bent by someone else. It'd probably be pointless to try and metal bend armor that's on a metal bender, which is why I think Kuvira and Su Yin don't try in their fight. Before Unvaatu even did that she was also exhausted and caught some ground on him after fighting Vaatu. So with saying that, Korra literally fought 3 major battles on that same night. "under the guise of uniting the Earth Kingdom"
Ah no that's quite literally what she's doing. The Earth Kingdom is in disarray after the events of the last book and even prior to that after the hundred year war had land taken under the guidance of Aang and Zuko to set up Republic City which was made up of colonies from the Fire Nation which had invading during the war.
Her motivations and intentions are like many themes in Korra derived from real world historical events. They're probably more realized than those of Zaheer who was basically sowing chaos for the sake of sowing chaos even though this chapter is the probably the weakest in terms of writing of all them.

Not tryna start anything🙈 but cmon now, the girl has ptsd😭, you can’t expect her to be at her best physically if she’s clearly not at her best mentally. Healing is a process, it takes time you can’t just expect someone to bounce back that quick, I think y’all need to take a deeper look at korra to understand her situation and see the other side to this. Like the fact that she has ptsd but is still willing to try to make things right shows she’s a badass. The fact that she’s fighting her battles with no help from the previous avatars shows she’s a badass. Not everyday is going to be a win, you will fail and fail but the important thing is that you get right back up and get to work and that’s what korra does which once again proves she’s a badass. Just had to say this, not tryna start anything or make anyone mad, I just think it’s something people need to look at.

Kuvira has done in the earth kingdom in like a month than multiple generations of kings/queens done in 100s of years. So I see it as she is good that doesn't care HOW she makes her home a better place

Kuvira is no different than any other Earth Kingdom leader like Long Feng. She's just a power-hungry asshole that thinks she has a right to decide how everyone lives. And as of the last episode she's officially just a Hitler-analog marching into Zaofu (Poland).
