  • This yoga practice takes the spine through the full range of motion and is useful for neck and upper back tension. The entire practice is done sitting in a chair, and you can easily add to it by including standing yoga poses. For practice sequence go to wp.me/p4q4vp-22O

    A lovely flow. Just one question: I don't get any stretch in the quads when I place my lower leg under the chair. This stretch just isn't passive enough for me; perhaps my hip flexors are too tight? Should I just go through the motions - will it still be of benefit?

      Hi Virginia! You can try moving yourself a bit closer to the edge of the chair (just please be safe) and try hanging your leg down from the hip. Even if you don't feel much of a stretch, your hips should release a bit.

    Hi Olga, I'm a subscriber of your membership site, which I love and find so, so useful! I've been hunting for an article and/or video that targets herniated discs. Do you have such an article or video? There is a lot of conflicting advice on what poses to do and what poses to avoid with a herniated/bulging disc. I'm interested in what your suggest and why.

      @sequencewizvideo  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi Gail! Thank you for being a loyal Sequence Wiz member! I generally try to stay away from giving advice for herniated disk situations because there is so much variability there - which symptoms it causes, what movements aggravate it, the intensity of discomfort, etc. I much prefer to work with students one-on-one with that and investigate each specific situation. I might investigate this topic in the future in an article, but I doubt I would ever do a CZcams video for it. The potential for error is too great when inexperienced folks try it on their own. If I stumble over a useful practice I will let you know!

      Thank you, Olga. I certainly understand why you don't give advice! As a beginning yoga instructor, I have researched this topic intensively and found conflicting treatments. I teach a chair class, as well as a gentle class. I shy away from taking any private client with disc issues at this time, because I'm not knowledgeable enough to guide them. I plan to enter the Viniyoga Institute's therapeutic program as soon as possible. I enjoy your articles and videos very much!
