My dad died 3 days before Christmas last year and this was the song i ended up crying myself to sleep to. I dont know why i picked it. It's always been a beautiful song to me. But it spoke so much to me in my time of hurt. I dont mean to be morbid to anyone here, but for anyone reading this comment, tell your loved ones how much you love them. Life goes past too fast. Btw my dad was 61 and died of sudden heart failure. I'm devastated beyond words

I’m 50 this year and I’m here to tell you that songs like this ARE getting made now. Beautiful music is being created all the time. I could repeat your comment but replace the 2000s with the 90s. A boomer could say the same thing about the 60s. It’s not a lack of artistic product that you’re lamenting, it’s the loss of your mindset from when you were younger. Ageing can make things feel less magical but the beauty is still there if you dig deep enough.
@@that70sgirl17I think it's actually that music is way more fragmented now, there's way more variety but an algorithm has to choose to show it to you and it tends to just show you the music it already knows you listen to. The radio doesn't help because it caters towards an older demographic now.

The early 2000s was the last few years we got GOOD chart music after many decades of fantastic music of all genres.
After the pop punk/nu metal scene died out around 2005 music in the charts just turned fully crap, with rock being basically unheard of. Now in 2024 all we have in the charts is overproduced pop crap, most with no specific meaning or talent. It's really sad... Even the pop and rap scene of the 90s were great compared to crap today..

There is still a lot of fantastic underground music with bands and artists, but they don't get the credit they deserve!

Such a lyrically deep song. The idea of feeling so alone in life that you seek comfort from the presence of strangers, but even the strangers can't fill that empty void. Feeling like nobody understands you, like nobody wants the same out of life. The feeling of wanting to be accepted so bad that you're willing to pack it all up and leave the past behind you. I always come back to this song as a personal memoir to represent the journey of my life. Sometimes we just have to figure things out on our own, even if that means leaving things we care about. We have to always have hope that someone will come along to save us from those moments of despair, a romantic partner, family, a friend.
