In Australia back in the 80's we would make something similar to this, using a bit of wood the same length, and a wooden peg glued to the frame as the trigger mechanism. With just a nail in the end of the long frame to put the rubber bands over to pull them back to the peg. If you wanted to launch rocks you could bend the nail into a half circle to entrap the rubber band. They had some decent power if you made them about a meter long with a few decent rubber bands. Easily shoot a rock 100 feet at decent speed. Nice build. I love the color of the different woods you used.
