Without Curtis this would be some average band - sorry...
But the guy has so much soul that through his voice or his sax he can carry the whole tune!!
Sorry but Curtis doesn't have the feeling with the song like Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson did. It's just a good jazzy rendition.
I think, you think that because you heard the song from them first.
Don't forget that this is a live version.
Perhaps, a studio recording with a good production might change your mind.
