I always figured they'd do the obvious thing, a bit of the tail meeting above the base of her spine so it kind of blends while still being centered around the spinal column. You can just assume she has a tail hole rather than a... hole.

The thing with Mumei is she cranks her cute meter beyond the limit the way she moves in 3D. I still can't get over how adorable her movements are on the Holotori first dance cover.
Mumei is simply perfect in every way; she has the ideal proportions in all aspects, nothing is larger or smaller than it should be.
But the main thing is her hips, those hips are simply divine.

You know adding a slit where the tail comes from. Like the slit in dresses for the leg part. might work while also covering the tush. Like have a slit back there that folds and come round the tail base. Causing more proper landing yet moveable and still looking proper with out flashing the bottom.

They need to buff her tail, or atleast somehow connect it with the tail bone. I remember an artist who drew Gura fanart and actually made her tail make sense, she'd have a dorsal fin before her full tail, also for it to actually work well, her thighs have to either clip through it or protude from it, like imagine a big fat tail, then stick legs onto it, then connect a body along the spine. It'd be uncomfortable for her to live but thats what you get for mixing a human and a shark.

Giant tails aren't that hard to work with, just put a hole in the skirt right below the waistline. The tail comes out from the hole and there won't be a tent.

Thing is animators never make the tails anatomically correct. The tail should be an extension of the coccyx which IS the tail we still have however vestigial it may be. They shouldn’t be making tails extend from the middle of the pelvis like they normally do.

i've seen four different variations on furry women with tails (as most have).
1: The tail goes over the skirt while the skirt covers the butt.
2: The tail goes through a special hole in the back of the skirt helping to anchor the skirt from being lifted while providing sufficient covering of the butt.
3: The skirt is over the tail where depending on the tail it pokes out from under the skirt without lifting for view of the butt, or shamelessly or carelessly lifting the skirt for full view of the butt as the tail lifts the skirt.
4: Bottomless, normally reserved for "adult content."
