Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused, unreleased and unseen things in various games! Since New Pokemon Snap is just around the corner as I'm making this, today we're checking out the original Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo 64! Pokemon Snap doesn't have as much content left over in the final release, but there are several things that still go unused or were altered for release! Let's check 'em out!

For a system that shoved the number 64 down your throat, it bugs me how this game only has 63 Pokemon.
maybe the ghost themed level got cut once they realized gen 1 only had 3 ghost pokemon

It would probably include other "haunted house" type stuff. Ratatta and Raticate for rats. Venomoth and Venonaut for bug infestation, Goldbat and Zubat for bats. Cubone for skulls. Mr. Mime for creepy reasons... What would have been neat was an Abra that teleports away every time you focus the camera on it, maybe requiring you take a picture of its reflection in a broken mirror

I love the lost bits of video games
I have a personal headcanon that the original concept for the horror level was adapted into the haunted zone in Pokepark Wii. They’re probably completely unrelated, but at the same time I can easily imagine that level being reworked into an on rails bit kind of like the Haunted Mansion at Disney World.

Dang this brought back memories of me an my sister playing this on the Wii. I remember the Zubat and Pikachu can be hit to release balloon pikachu but I was never able to get it. My sister did though, and I was mad I couldn’t back then lol.

That the same debug menu as ocarina of time: you’d crash the game by tilting the cart slightly to the right and then input the button combination.

A quick guess on the 64 is the requirement for additional data. 64 is base 2 is 1000000 while 63 is 111111 and it might not seem like much to add that one extra bit but it gets compounded through the data structures and whatnot. Wouldn't make sense to add that 1 extra poogeymun if you weren't going to use the rest of the information (getting us to 127)

The thing that makes Pokemon snap so good is the secrets. Do this and gyrados shows up, do this and charizard shows up, lead a slowpoke over to water he evolves, what are these shiny things? mewtwo.. apparently. and you really don't need to know anything about pokemon to enjoy the game. I have my doubts that the new Pokemon Snap will be as good. Nintendo just doesn't feel as experimental with their games anymore.

Arr too bad you've got some facts wrong here... The song name was "Fantasic Horror", and not "fantastic horror"
Also we recently have the answer about the jack and the beanstalk thing, and no the game was not supposed to be about the fairytale at all we recently had the info in a book which was recently released
Seeing as how "Fantasic" isn't a word and that there are plenty of other spelling mistakes on the composer's website, I'd be more than willing to bet that "Fantasic" is a typo for Fantastic lol
