hey redshift! do you know if this mod setup is compatible with violens killmove mod?
My feedback is that you are in no need of feedback. Shit is on point. You’ve got a knack for this.
@@rockfield0032 yup it is, i've been using violens with zero issues
@@yohef4537 thanks for the constant support yohef, means a lot
@@Javalotl yeah i'll update my graphics mod video soon and it'll come with a collection or wabbjack or both once i figure it out
It's nice to see a return to Skyrim's vanilla combat while keeping it fresh and incorporating a lot of what modders and players have learned by trying to make the game into Dark Souls. For a while there, I thought I was in the minority who wanted to keep a more vanilla-esque feeling as well as play the game in exclusively first-person.
I loved seeing the progress made by the modding scene in these combat overhauls. But skyrim game design isn't compatible with that kind of combat and let's be honest, the gameplay was still a bit clunky and rough arround the edges, it would never reach the quality of a souls gameplay. So those version of skyrim felt more like a modern mobile action game. This overhaul on the other hand makes me want to finally do a full playthrough of the game after years. (Instead of having a blast for 15 hours modding and twweaking the game and playing it for no more than 5)
Ngl, I tried out the SkyrimSouls mod…it’s fun…but no. I’m happy being my own vanilla chop chop self.(I got shower timed constantly trying to play the mod)
I think the Valhalla combat mod is probably the more non lore breaking mod imo
@@dilox374honestly modding the game is more fun than playing the game 😂😂😂
I also love theory crafting builds.
Skyrim is meant to be played in first person
I love the idea of a smoother vanilla combat instead of turning skyrim into a clunky dark souls with jiggle physics. It also makes the game less challenging by adding s and dodging. It's just not made to be played like that. Sure, vanilla has ice skating but it's even that bad, it is pretty fluid for what it is. Not to mention with some great 1st person animation mods we can keep the combat to 1st person entirely! Great list of mods. Simonrim is a great set of mods!
I've been saying the same thing. Dark Soul's combat has no place in Skyrim. It's like ramming a square peg into a round hole. It just doesn't work. Why not just play a Dark Soul's game instead.
There is a mod that fixes the ice skating issue. It's called "Ice skating fixed for real - No more attack sliding movement."
agree on everything except on the ice skating, it is really really bad
Yes, something I really don't like about souls wannabe, aside the over the top animations, is it gives players abilities and tools that weren't in the base game, like dodge for instance, but not the npcs. So there's this weird dichotomy between the player and the npcs where you come from different games. And anyway, because of the engine, no amount of modding can suppress the clunkiness, so trying to emulate pirouetting characters is, in my opinion, destined to fail.
The first time I modded skyrim, I essentially turned it into clunky dark souls. Then, I lost all of my mods and began actually playing dark souls. Coming back to modding this beautiful game, I can't bring myself to make it anything else than what it was intended to be. Your modding taste is a breath of fresh air, and I wish I had stuck closer to vanilla in my earlier builds.
You have more than earned my subscription, sir.
What I did honestly was just use blade and blunt, ordinator apocalypse and way of the monk. I don't know if I'm on expert or legendary but it's very fun. I can kill most enemies in 2-4 hits but they kill me in 1 since monk relies on having no armor. It made most weapons other then fist kinda useless since they don't do any damage but it made me think about new ways to play. Now sneaking is mandatory and I have to have it high to knock someone out. Use that with ghost walk and trip wire you can take an enemy out of a group teleport back trip oncoming enemies knock them out while out and if one gets up I NEED to cast stoneflessh to survive more then 1 or 2 hits but then I have to decide between healing, defense, attacking and stamina. It does take away the use of most low level melee but I've never had to actually think strategically about what spells I had to use in Skyrim and as I unlock more perks like tripwire with ordinator the combats the same but you have so many tools
Finally a combat system that stays true to Skyrim
This was one of the most comprehensive and curated lists of vanilla-like mods I've seen, thank you redshift.
Really happy to see Blade and Blunt getting the recognition it deserves.
it's literally an esp
@@mithras666 yes..?
I think I'm going to finally give it a go.
After 3 days messing around with Precision, MCO, and the tons of the movesets for MCO, I'm defeated. All of them look great but feel like shit. Half of the time the attacks are registered, animations glitch out, power attacking becomes a chore _(sometimes power attacks consume the energy, but the animation doesn't play)_, sometimes parrying near enemies trigger backstabs and you one-shot everyone. It's a mess. Trying to solve Skyrim's mechanical issues with flashy animations simply doesn't work.
Simon Magnus' gameplay mods are fantastic for people who want a light LO, while having majorly substantial changes. I decided to make the change to their stuff a year ago and it was the first time I really did a complete Skyrim playthrough, due to how clean and un-intrusive the features are implemented. On top of having a clear design goal with no bloat.
@@mithras666 You can do quite alot with just an esp. However, blade and blunt is much more than that. If you happen to open the file archive you will see there is a dll file in there(among other files obviously). Since you don't seem to know what that is I will explain. That is an SKSE plugin. One that I worked very hard on making. It required me to spend hours and hours writing C++ code and reverse engineering parts of a disassembled Skyrim exe, so that it can hook into the game and allow blade and blunt to do the things it does.
I also love how the injury system meshes well with vanilla instead of just dumping a bunch of new items and systems that don't really connect to the base game.
Precision is a godsend for game feel, a must have for modern playthroughs
Love the banner presentation for each mod!
Love your videos Redshift, keep up the good work!
Absolutely love this, so many combat overhauls either change very little or radically change the game trying to emulate a from software demon souls clone. I've only watched a couple of videos but your style and taste in modding seems to fit me perfectly. Vanilla+ is really where it's at for me for modding games.
Wow -- I was just going to do Blade and Blunt, glad I found this video. Precision and the archery mods are game changers for sure!!
That was quite informative! I will definitely try it out. Thanks!
Wow these mods seem sick and your game looks beautiful. Time to look further into your channel and try and get my game to be like yours!
Fantastic video, good work dude. Thanks for the showcase
Great showcase! I will be adding most of these soon.
you are the best! i was looking for a modlist like this
Absolutely love this! I'm putting together a huge Personal list and I think I'll incorporate all of these
I love this, so much. And I would definitely look further into more vanilla+ modding if I wasn't so damn hyped for Skyrim ULTIMA.
Thank you for this informative video.
I've use True Hud for months and never knew all of these features. o7
Great mod list and btw the minecraft music randomly kicking in was incredible hahaha
Great mod list. Really enjoyed that video.
bout to switch from valhalla to blade and blunt now- thanks for showcasing!
I loved seeing the armour mods, could you do a list of those next please? And same for the graphics
i've been looking through you're videos and I gotta say man this is helping me out heaps! Earned a new sub :)
Ha! I’m glad you covered blade & blunt as I’m currently (on Xbox) using Simonrim AIO which includes that, and I didn’t know most of this about it. So thanks, Legend.
Holy crapp bro thank you so much.
its like i wanna improve how the combat and looks are with out using 50+ mods -_- you are a life saver my man.
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking.
I have always said that I like Skyrim combat but just wanted something on to it and this list is really good.
Another great list of mods
I love the fact that you keep it real but artistic❤ Outlaw
Valhalla combat is one that I use and it's a fantastic addition, definitely worth checking out.
i cant see myself playing skyrim witout precision, its so simple yet satisfying
Cool.I also like the vanilla combat for the most part. I dislike the heavy dodge mod focus for most other combat videos and load orders. So, a vanilla plus combat is amazing. Can't wait to try it out.
My modlist for combat is better blocking and better ai. It turns combat sort of into rock paper scissors and it turns what used to be shallow mashing into something that makes me think, and i always appreciate that in a combat system.
this is really good!
Nice list. I've been using Wildcat until now which was pretty vanillai-sh
amazing video
I'm glad for this vanilla style list, while sometimes its impressive seeing the elden ring/dark souls mechanic replacers, Its not really my style and I definitely prefer this.
Nice video! Blade and Blunt is a really good mod. Been using it for a while. Keep up the great work!
Someday I hope to see your immersive playthrough with them vanilla+ mods.
Its so refreshing to see a creator more interested in showcasing mods rather than making machinamas to pad the run time of videos..
lol thanks
I like that you show a lot of 3rd person gameplay I usually exclusively play 3rd person in Bethesda games
As soon as I saw Blade and Blunt, I knew this list was about to be peak
A really good list, I love keeping my Skyrim as close to vanilla as possible! Just one curiosity about your video: are you using any fire mod?
so glad people mod the animations, The swinging always looks so clumsy in Vanilla Skyrim
Hey bro, I love this video - you're making me want to play Skyrim again!! I was wondering what mod you have used that makes the enemies knock down/ragdoll whilst alive?
would love to see your take on a vortex collection for your optimal skyrim :)
Faahluan on wabajack is using nearly identical setup.
thank you, really, thank you. I tried modding some combat mods a while ago and skyrim just updated so all my saved files corrupted and i couldn't even start the game so i decided not to mod combat again, now with this i can have a fresher combat experience without having to worry that my game will break all over again
THANK YOU
Ngl, I would pay red to give me his modlist. Lmao! Another great find with the archery mods and animations!
Great video! Thank you so much for the work!
Some great mods here. Some I've not heard of, some I've seen & tried but looks like I'll have to "upgrade" to Anniversary edition because they're not working even with the right Script extender for Special edition.
I rarely use 2 handed weapons but those changes are gorgeous!
No. You aren't the only one. Most animations overhauls I find I don't think are as good or are at least too different than the vanilla animations.
By far the best gameplay mods ive seen. I hope bethesda will see this vid.
Hey man, great video! I have been checking some of your videos and they helped me a lot.
Would like to ask though, how do you make the camera stay over your shoulder on third person with your weapon unsheathed? Im kinda new to skyrim modding and had some trouble finding how to do it. Thanks again!
Thanks for showcasing my average greatsword animations :D
Though you seem to be using old version, I fixed many bugs in latest one, give it a try :)
Oh maybe I am I'll update!
Fantastic video. This list has made me reinstall skyrim to give it all a go. Question though, the white slashing effect that appears when your weapon makes contact, which mod is that from?
Dynamic Impact - Slash Effects X
Arrow Limiter is a good mod for reducing the reliance on stealth archery. By default limits you to 24 arrows but it's configurable, I usually set it to 12 at the start of the game and increase it from there. Not realistic to carry hundreds of arrows, even 24 is a big bundle. In big dungeons you have to scavenge enemy arrows which pairs nicely with ElSopa Quivers so you can see all the cool designs. You'll also run into encounters and realise you have only a few arrows so you have to play it differently.
i'm on xbox and limit myself to 40 arrows total
i can only carry 40 regardless of type
that's pretty clever i'll definitely look into that
Ok holy moly, this is actually what I was dreaming in my teen years. All of this mod is still quite faithful to what modern combat of skyrim looks like. Hopefully all of this feature except for magic sneak attack is a staple for the next elder scroll game whenever it released. Good List.
Dude, that's the kind of modpacks i love, not those who makes you don't know what game are you playing
What’s the mod that cause your enemy to knock back/knock down? It looks very smooth
A little late to the party but what were your weapon and armor mods? really cool armor in this that kept the vanilla feel. Great mod combo btw, I like that it didn't totally change the core gameplay while still upgrading the feel of combat.
Can u make a Vexus mod list with the mods u use for your own game or ones you put into videos for easy download cause your game looks fantastic
That thumbnail!
Good video man, love the vibes. You just sold me Blade & Blunt, but I have a question. What mod are you using that makes enemies fall when getting hit with an attack of opportunity?
www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/68696
a small mod i found changed the sweep perk to a power attack cost reduction within Adamant, another mod by B&B and Mysticism's maker.
that sounds good yeah, i use adamant i just forgot to mention it
*SIGH* time to start a new character in Skyrim
Pretty nice! Kinda makes me want to ditch MCO for a while and enjoy a more vanilla experience again.
What is the mod for the slash effects (reference 4:56)
And also the camera movement looks different to me (same reference)
This is fantastic! Although i wish some of these are Xbox compatible. Thankfully blade and blunt works but most of these are absent at the moment.
Shootout to Combat Gameplay Overhaul , IT IS Lore friendly and part of Vanilla+ build, it works well with any version of Skyrim and you can play without SKSE.
Archery Locational Damage is the only one I wanted out of this
that's good then
Heyy,
Please what mod are you using for your enchanting table model at 3:48 ?
Thanks in advance!
finally a straight forward and far better combat system. i really like stamina drain during sneaking
I wanted to like precision but I had nothing but issues with it. Shame, because it's such a cool concept.
Any chance we can get a collection of all the mods seen in video including graphical mods?
Holy shit, i think i found my perfect loadout. I'm new to pc skyrim and this addresses nearly everything i wanted to fix about vanilla combat without turning it into dark souls. I already friggin have dark souls, i don't need it in my Skyrim
Bro, can you make a video conquest of skyrim mod or ryse son of rome mod. I'm curious how they will affect performance on your ultra beautiful skyrim
Violens can get rid of VATS jank and can be adjusted in game to do nothing else. It can also incorporate a 1 sec stagger during the kill move with VATs off to keep the mobs from spamming you. Makes third person flow.
Thats the only other thing I absolutely dislike about Vanilla you didn’t mention (maybe I missed it). So I very much approve. I didn’t know precision incorporated impacts…so I can now uninstall smite and stagger.
For blades and blunt What do you recommend for fighting with magic? since apparently the wards are the only thing that protects you and the destruction magic only does damage without benefiting from the mechanics of the mod
What mod causes them to fall to the ground when hit while staggered without killing them? Like at 1:28 when he hits the bandit and he falls down without dying?
This made me want to play Skyrim in the middle of my modded fnv. Great video.
i REALLY love the 1st person blocking animations you have for the greatsword animations at 12:28, but for some reason its not present in either absolutely average animations, or KG two handers. been trying to find it ;-;
I’m 99% sure they are in absolutely average! Check again for conflicts?
Magic sneak attacks has not been working for quite some time sadly. It will give you the message and sound but damage is not actually increased.
Looks like an ESO style combat system. I like ESO combat system :)
What's the hit effect mod you used? It looks spectacular
i think it's this: www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/86071
the first person animation was pretty cool, what's that?
How do you get that special crosshair for the bows? The one with like 2 dots.
Thank you for this. All the video I see on this turn the game into janky Dark Souls when that's not what I want at all
Are you using some perk overhaul ?
Man I wish console (I play on XB1, special edition) had all these cool and intuitive mods 😭😭 I’ve never been particularly good at playing on a PC setup so I guess I’m stuck with the poopoo console mod selections💔
what lighting mod are you using for your interiors? They look great!
Lux
yeah, lux
Sorry but what mod do you use that makes your character carry the sword over the shoulder in first person while the sword is drawn out as showed in the video?
It's an animation from CGO that I stole
Apart from precision, I think I will try all of them out. Though I am not sure if Mysticism should replace Odin
they're both great - just personal preference really
What graphics modpack do you use?
I have a similar setup but I use Mortal Enemies and Shield of Stamina instead of Blade and Blunt. They seem to share a lot of features... should I switch? Why?
Thanks!
What mod makes the sword enchant look like that @7:02?
hey man do you have a "must have" mod list for ps5 editions?
I hate stamina cost on everything because of the slow regen, if it is as fast as darksouls then yeah id install.
What is the shiny sword model you are holding at 12:28? Looks so good.
Radzig Longsword
@@redshift1 Quite nice! Thank you. :)
