I personally feel like if you're in the UK, apprenticeships are the best due to the experience and education you get in those years is just invaluable.
Courses are good for teaching you fundamentals and principles the real learning happens on the job, the market is pretty tough right now with the big tech layoffs
I enjoy product design more that's why i've chosen this career path. However software engineering is very rewarding, you can fetch higher salaries as well

Yeah, you should be able to find a job in London with the right portfolio. Just need to get out there applying for jobs and get interview experience in!
