  • THE MOST IMPORTANT TECHNIQUE OF MY DRAWING STYLE. Don't be overwhelmed by drawing detail! These 5 techniques are key to navigating a path through a tangle of detail in a subject to an amazing drawing at the other side! Don't miss the end - the principles are seen demonstrated in two streetscape drawings. This is possibly the most fundament principle of my drawing.

    It's really helpful to have your analysis of the techniques you use in your drawings, especially these highly detailed images. I especially appreciated the reference to the corners and edges.

    Thank you so much! For a person who's art started in digital, the notion of changing the technique of markmaking to better the description of the whole picture form was GROUNDBREAKING. Really really changes the game, as you might now, in digital art the instrument's mark is usually considered a decorative texture.

    Perhaps I am not advanced enough for this one. I have watched dozens of your videos and you have taught me so many things that have improved my drawings. Thank you for that. This one was the first Video that I don't understand. Maybe I need to watch a few more times? I have not heard you mention siloette edges or fire breaks before and not 100 % sure what you mean and how to incorporate them myself. This one seems overwhelming to me. Not discouraged though. All the others have been amazing so I will skip this and try again later.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  Před měsícem

      Silhouette Edges refers to the edge of an object especially where is stands out clearly - such as against a clear skk. By fire break I mean a gap between two areas (in australia to stop or slow down spreading bushfires). But it's really here a metaphor to describe an area of separation between two parts of the drawing that might be confusing and look ,erged together otherwise. Does this help? I have a playlist on this area of drawing that may be helpful.
