Yeah...even if not a scammer, travel agents just are not worth it...book everything yourself. The only time I've ever heard that it was advantageous to use a travel agent is one where the travel agent contacted the cruise line over and over again until she got them a free upgraded nicer cabin...must of said they didn't like the regular cabins you get and just harassed cruise line until they relented. That's it. Otherwise, they are just going to try to book you into everything, whether you want it or not (they'll try to convince you that you need it) because they get $$$ in kickbacks (the different between what they charge you and what they actually pay) as their salary.

Travel Agent here too 👋🏾. Whoever that person was is just scum! I'm sorry that she got scammed. Whenever I book travel for myself or for others, the first thing I do, is go directly onto the airlines website to check the booking. And as travel agents, we don't get crazy deals on flights, accommodations we do sometimes, but it's not always a given. Just an FYI for those who don't know.
Maybe your friend and the agent set you up together
And make sure not to buy it from that same travel agent. Buy it independently!
If you pay with a credit card, contact your credit card company.And have them investigate and possibly get your money back

I am sorry this happened to you. I book most of my vacation through Costco Travel and trust they take good care of you. Me and a friend did a 11 day trip to Italy, Rome Florence and Venice for $4K ( which was $2K each). This included the flight, 5 star hotels, first class train tickets to the cities, breakfast buffet and transportation from airport to hotel. The best trip ever!!

I book 90 percent of my vacation with them. Their prices and guarantees are the best in the business. However if I’m flying domestic or to the Caribbeans, I book my own flights with Southwest.
TRUE STORY!! I use to be friendly to this girl in my building, basically hi & bye, so one day in passing we started talking about travel and I told her I was headed to New Orleans and she said “O can I go” so I said sure, why not. We exchanged numbers. She called me and asked if I could change the date, I said no, I had it planned already. So I told her the half of the room cost $500 and she said, I want to see it in writing, I said sure why not. Then she complained about airfare something told me to give her the money back but I didn’t, so when the trip came she asked for the confirmation number, I gave it to her, she asked me was I checking my bag, I said no, carry on, long story short we at the airport she went to the counter, taking a long time, I finally go over there why the agent calling her my name, I was like what’s going on. The agent looked and said are you trying to check your bag under her free check bag, don’t do that no more, I said girl, she gave me a attitude saying ain’t nobody using your name, I checked it by mistake 🤔 long story short the trip was horrible, she complained about everything, walking, where to go, & eating… I blocked her number as soon as I got back home.

Why would you share a room, or even go on vacation, with a girl you don't even know? After my last apt roommate in college, I vowed that I would never even share an apt with someone who I wasn't married too. On the other side (I hate to side with the other girl) but you know, if she had just "asked" you about using your free 1 checked bag perk, you might of just said "yes" and let her pretend to be you or you pretended her bag was your bag, and do that as you weren't using it anyway and it was completely free. She just handled it underhandedly because she thought you'd say "no" if asked, apparently...dumb to do that, and you can't "accidentally" check baggage (it's pretty purposeful...LOL). I'm sorry you've have such a bad experience. I've found that anything important or that matters, I only do with people I know very, very well...relatives, best friends, etc. People who know they will be held accountable later if they pull anything.

As A Flight Attendant I always plan my own trips. Of course you would think I know a lot about the travel industry being applied Attendant but economy travel is always free for us, so truly there is not much that I know if I want to purchase my own business/ first class ticket. But what I will say is, I do feel like travel agents are scams to begin with. plan your own vacation that’s the best way. Always plan your own vacation. It’s not hard. When I tell you, I think travel agents are truly scam artists and I have some in my family. I just don’t tell them that I think that they are scam artist lol. Also consider anything that Zell or cash app a scam anytime anyone offers anything Zell or cash app just consider it a scam. If you can’t get it on Visa or PayPal or anything you can hold them accountable for and get a refund don’t do it.

I’ve traveled all over the world. I’ve also been scammed. The best thing you ever did was not go on that trip. Always trust your gut. You are very try self aware. Also, see if the bank can recoup and of your money. She’s saying 10 days but she’s been proven a liar so I wouldn’t trust her. Don’t blow up on her until you at least recover something. I can’t wait to see your future Bali video because I know you’re going to make it happen. Also in this day and age never truant a travel agent when there’s Expedia, Travelocity, trip advisor, so many resources. They’re all scamming and you might as well book it in your name so you can get the points and credits. ❤

I'm confused as well. She didn't get a confirmation and seat class? When I upgrade, it's clearly stated. I have been bumped out of business before, but I didn't cancel a whole trip. I took it up with the airline upon return. The smell of the room and fog can't be the responsibility of the TA. I have booked many trips on my own, but travel agents can be great. A good one is a professional with valuable insight. I used one for an upcoming trip because I wanted to go, but got tired of looking. I tapped out and turned it over to her. She narrowed the list and I made a choice. I'm not usually able to get insane deals because I'm traveling at peak times due to vacation schedules. First world problems....

Getting an economy ticket versus a business class ticket is not a scam, especially when you know from before that the price you were paying was clearly for economy. You already knew that the price for business class would be way, way more expensive. The point is to get to Bali. Not about flying business class. Strange! Plus, the shady friend had nothing to do with the purchase of the plane tickets. Glad you learned to trust your gut, but maybe learn to book your own flights. I have travelled with picky people like here, and those people are not friends anymore. Her use of "scarcity mindset" is not really applicable here. LOL!
I’ve been all around the world alone. I roll with the punches but I also make my own travel arrangements start to finish. Nothing will ever go 100% according to plans. I just adjust to whatever i.e weather delays, cancellation and being bumped.
That’s my motto. As long as I’m safe and d have a working credit card, I’m good while traveling-I make my own arrangements and get travel insurance!
International flights are way more spacious and the food on the plane is top notch. They give you an over night bag, blankets. But i definitely understand.👍🏾✌🏾GOD DOING A NEW THANG. Count it all joy.
I agree...I was going to say that too. Flying economy on international flights is n-o-t like flying economy on domestic flights in the U.S.. MUCH nicer, bigger seats, nicer food (even food provided at all!)...the stuff you mentioned.
I flew economy to Australia and felt like royalty on the way there 😂. Food was just aight tho. From experience, the food in domestic business and first class are definitely way better.
I booked a first class flight for a short trip like 4 hours. I can afford it.... more than afford it. I was telling this girl about it. She was like I would only do that for a longer flight. It's not worth it for a shorter flight. I know she can't afford that and would end up in economy on a longer flight which is way more spacious. She is better off booking for a shorter flight so she can actually experience it, but I think it's best people learn the hard way 🤷♀️

Honestly it sounds like she accidentally charged you for and booked economy and didn’t realize. Then when she realized her mistake she didn’t wanna own up to it. The fact she was still answering your calls and offering to send you half back tells me this wasn’t a scam.
That's why I don't think it was a scam, scammers will ghost you , she shoulda just went I don't see this as a scam, she could've always just called the hotel and verified her booking to be true.

After this giant flop of betrayal by a former friend. I love traveling alone. I go places where I have connected to a stranger that has built, then eased into a trusted travel partner before the trip. It is risky when u depend on others for the details. As a travel agent I must ask, if made all these payments ahead of time did not request any documentation about the trip? Hotel/Air confirmations?
My thoughts as well. I use travel agents but you can determine their legitimacy prior to using them.
Sometimes, we need deliverance from people/things that we don’t even know we need deliverance from. And sometimes our freedom comes in ugly packages. As you told your story, I recognized the blessings in all that you went thru. You gave up smoking…WIN! Your ex-friend’s true character was revealed…WIN. You learned to trust your gut…WIN. You learned that it’s more cost effective to plan your own travels…WIN.

Great video, I feel like we are both on similar journeys. I am too being attacked and tempted and tested. I too had to cut a friend group a few years ago for some intuitive vibes that i was feeling. I too experience friends and family being mad weird and shady vibes. Move level headed, don't be rash or hostile, pray and ask god for some clarity and protection. As I've gotten older, the more I realize many ppl aren't often happy for your accomplishments as you might be. They question, why not me, instead of being happy for a loved one. Continue to feel out situations and go with the gut feeling. Keep the grass cut low, to catch em' being fake, catch them being snakes. It's never fun but you got this! I think its something about being in the 20's something and maturing. Recognizing.

So…she made a mistake and tried to right it by refunding you and you’re calling it a scam? Scammers take your money and disappear. This isn’t a scam and yes, you’re being dramatic (since you asked). You could’ve verified everything else instead of calling a complete stranger a scammer. Did things go perfectly? No. If your “intuition” is based on fog and a mistake, you missed out. If it’s the friend that’s not a friend, that’s another matter.
Just a courteous criticism : the next time you attempt to tell a story stick with the story and don’t waste your viewers time, listening to nonsense about what’s flying around in your car, when you stop smoking , etc . That had nothing to do with the video of you being scammed and frankly, it’s a waste of time. Please accept this as a valuable criticism.

I used to work for Emirates airlines, it is common to be overbooked at times, but if that’s the case they usually upgrade business to first, economy to business in most common situations. ( but I must say the economy is really good for economy, better than most, but understanding that doesn’t make it right)

Is it not possible just book yourself? I just use Expedia, and TripAdvisor. I book film directly on the official website. I don’t trust giving my money to a middle man
TripAdvisor, Expedia, Kayak Etc, are online travel agencies. They just dont service the bookings. They would be the middle man. Direct would be American Airlines, Hilton, Disney.
Obviously, she was just trying to make money off of you, which I get, but travel agents aren't supposed to screw you over in the process of making their money. She thought she could cut corners and cheapen your trip to make more off of it. Definitely makes you wonder what the rest of the trip would have been like. Hopefully, you get all your money back. Always plan yourself or through people/places you trust. Hope you take a trip and put another stamp on that passport though. Don't let one bad experience stop you from getting out there and living.

In 2024, I book my own flights, hotel and activities. There are so many ways to book your own flights and hotels and always travel with people you trust or go solo.
I felt this video wayyy too much! especially when you started speaking on losing friends.. 2 years ago all of my friends started to drop like flies from my life, one by one.. like months apart. i didn’t understand it, i questioned myself so much bc i knew i hadn’t done anything wrong. and everything started coming out how they would talk about me behind my back, make plans w me then fake me out but go w others. soon after they were all gone from my life, God started to bless me in a whole different way, i have much clearer dreams, things come to me before anyone can tell me things half of the time. continue to trust in yourself, it’s okay to let the tears out but this will all make you a stronger person! and hell no, you’re not being dramatic and you definitely made the right decision not going! wishing you nothing but peace 💕

When it comes to booking with a travel agent, there's always some due diligence thats falls on the individual. Verifying tickets and reservations prior to travel by inputting the information into the Airline/hotel website is a must or call a service rep to do so.

@@Monicamojito I did a lot of activities- favorite 🤩 jimbaran seafood 🦞 dining sunset, Ubud Hot Springs Waterfalls tour( with this tour you go on many popular places), of course when to 6 beaches- for the beach schedule beach club because you get all the perks comes with being a member for the day. I was there for 12 days

You're being dramatic....because the travel agent never ghosted you and still answered the phone for you!! She may have "MISLED" you, I definitely wouldn't call it a scam. Misleading & scamming are 2 different things!!!
Sunny be still. Now is not the time for traveling and being connected to others such as friends and families. It's time for self-care and strengthening your personal relationship with God. Those who are not on this kind of journey will only confuse or destroy you. For example, I went to the gym and was working out. This stranger confronted me and verbally attacked me, followed me around while I was working out then reported me to the manager. I refused to become confused because I knew that this stranger was attempting to project pain into my life to make that evil spirit attach itself to my life and drag me down into the dumpster where he dwell. Instead, I rejected it which gave it back and then I let it pass instead of attaching itself.
When you are attractive, blessed, and beautiful you have to protect, shield, and love yourself because people are trying to unstable you and dem this kind of light from shining. Especially if your light is very bright the attacks just automatically come. You made the right decision to return home. Also, your grandmother was trying to teach you the skill of having emotional blockers that prevent people from easily reaching into your heart and breaking it.

never use travel agencies. I bought a ticket from California to NC w connected flight to chicago using Expedia. The day of the flight they cancel the chicago to NC without me knowing so I had to buy a whole $300 ticket same day Chicago to Charlotte smh
