Singapore keeps updating its immigration systems and the latest heard is the Automated Border Control System which do not require passport presentation to simplify and ease congestion.
The question now - When will Malaysia upgrade its antiquated immigration equipment which most times broke down and not in use?
In future, we will see travellers jamming up at the JB and Tuas immigration complexes while the Singapore side are not. Andvit's a shame Malaysia cannot keep up with small but rich Singapore in modernising its immigration system.

It isn’t smart or time efficient, the whole process needs 3 times of facial / iris scanning ! Crazy mad !

You forget that manual immigration also has to check your data on the computer. Do you think the computer is powered by pedals?
If you overkill it is not smart, the ISS is not interested in US no more than why it should be interested in Singapore? It cost a lot of money on tremendous manpower and AI equipment. Question and reality is that is it a necessity for the commuters including overseas ones who only will borne the bran. The weakness is more on custodian and intelligence than on the border point in many analysis of instances

Yes. By now it works for 51 nationality passports, include Indonesia.
