🌵ABOUT ME🌵
My name is Jessica and welcome to my channel. Here I love to share my passion for all things gardening, mainly succulents and houseplants. I live in Western South Dakota (USDA zone 5) with my wonderful husband, Jacob, and our golden retriever/bernese mountain dog, Kona. I love to teach and share my knowledge with all of you through instructional videos that will hopefully help teach and inspire you to use your green thumb. In their natural habitat they have 70-90% humidity so yes, in order for them to really thrive to their full potential, they need humid conditions always...... not only when propagating. Add a humidifier to the room and use a gauge so you can watch where the percentage is..... then, also, always keep them in bright indirect sunlight..... they also love growing on other things like trees so lava rock is a great addition for them..... it keeps them moist but not wet. follow this and your turtles will grow like mad and be gorgeous.
Hi, I would love to see how you transplant the cuttings after they root.
I would like to see how you took those babies from the tray and planted them. They appear so fragile
Your String of Turtles looks fabulous. They are such stunning plants and I wish I had better luck with them. Starting to get the hang of these guys so I'm propagating away. Thanks for sharing such a great video. I love love this plant so much. It's my all time favorite! 😍
Super helpful, this is a new plant to me and I did not know that the flowers were flowers 🙄 I clipped them off and am excited to see how the plant does now. I wondered if you can make a plant dome out of a regular plastic container and top you might use for leftovers? Thanks 🙏
Very beautiful string of turtle vines nice sharing 👌👍🙏💐
Again enjoy watching your tip of how propagate your String Turtle .
Your turtles look great! I'm inspired to propagate my String of Dolphins now!
After you propagated your string of turtles, how did you you transplant them. Mine turned out so nice but don’t know how to transplant them to a pot.
Love the video! Have had only 1 cutting come true from my S.O.T.. My leafs are a lot more vibrant and prominent patterns on the mother plant (especially since I've started the fert cycle again). I theorizing that if I root a cutting from the most prominent and vibrant ones, I can retain that genetic to in a sense line breed some cool patterns! Haven't added a dome for humidity but I have extra shoebox tubs that will do! Thanks for the advice!
Thank you, I just got a 5" string cutting i bought.
Hi Jessica! Your turtles are so healthy! My small plant is struggling. I tend to overwater so I’m hoping that’s not the case. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks for your videos! 🥰
If I tend to overwater a plant I’ll give it a more airy soil, more orchid mix!
Try bottom feeding, my SOT doesnt like direct water from the top itll kill them
Could you do this for string of pearls too? I finally got one and I love it so much 😍
Potentially! I actually bet that it would work good cause I never seem to be able to get them to actually grow with how I propagate other succulents but this might be worth trying
Yes, you can absolutely do this with string of pearls!
Would have been helpful to explain what a humidity dome is for those who don't have one....
I just have mine in water right now and it’s starting to grow a lot of tiny leaves but I don’t know if the roots are strong enough yet
Hello. I'm new to the Succulent world and just can't get enough of taking in knowledge about these beautiful plants. I have a couple newly store bought plants that I'm concerned about cutting. The tops don't possess a full rosesette. Should I give the plant the opportunity to develop before cutting?
How old are the ones in the black pots?
How do you know when the cuttings are ready to be moved to a bigger pot?
Just came across your channel. Mine are a pale green under a grow light. What can i do to make them darker??? I have them in a mcdonald cup as their dome fir humidity?? Ty.
Nice!
Que belleza felicidades
Did you get your string of turtles from the store or online? I have looked and have never seen them in store. Tfs
Can you use a plastic see-through bag over the newly turtles?
Sure, it works well. As long as light can get through the bag to the plants, it will work just fine.
Mine has turned crispy brown. What did I do wrong? I bought it in 6" hanging basket. It does have a few green strands left. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
This happened to me... I had to take the plant out of the pot and replant the good roots. I don’t know why gardening places do this, but the roots of my plant were tied up in a sack. I had to replant mine, and there were only a few good roots, sadly. Now I am soaking the roots of my turtle plant in water, and it seems to be helping so far. And I’m having lots of new leaves growing… hope this helps!!
hi your sot looks so cute! I just acquired a tiny baby one and it's growing kinda unruly (like your new propagated ones in the video). What can I do to make it fuller? it's a baby now so I am thinking I should wait for it to grow bigger a bit, then trim it? and can I just twirl a cut stem on top of the soil like I would with string of pearls to make it fuller? thanks for any insight!
Yes I would think that would work well. Also more light should have it grow the turtles closer togerger
@@AngelsGrove thank you I will try!!!
I've been searching, but can't find alocasia corms. Where do you purchase yours from?
Thank you, and thank you for this video!
I haven’t purchased any from someone else, I have just found them in my own soil from my alocasias. But I think I have seen some listed on etsy
Foggy?
What if i dont have a humidity dome 😭
I use plastic containers with lids that food comes in, such as Strawberries or sandwiches. Poke holes in top and bottom and close the lid
