  • A quick comparison I did some time ago between the Sangean DPR-69 Plus vs the Sony XDR-S40DBP portables on the DAB band using their own internal whip antennas. The station I am receiving is from a non-local multiplex about 25 miles from my location. Both radios seem to have the same reception in my opinion. If you were to ask me which is the best radio to go for, I would say the Sangean as it has more features for DAB DXing & faster scanning than the Sony.
Received in UK outdoors in the field.

Hi buddy, nice comparison between the Sangean and the Sony. In my opinion, the Sangean is a bit more informative and indicative but both receivers have the best performance :) Thanks for sharing 73!

Sony and Sangean DAB radios are very similar in performance but the Panasonic D10 is incrediblly sensitive on both DAB and FM plus has great audio just wish they had produced a stereo version

Thank you very much for this comparison, soon I'll gonna get the Panasonic RF-D10 because many Dxers has it, because it is a very selective and very easy to use

Hi "Danut BE" ! Did you purchase the RF-10 ? I received mine yesterday : it's really sensitive on DAB (actually the most sensitive unit I tested to date). The audio is clear BUT very flat, even with the equaliser set to "heavy".

@@aunumero73 I can't agree about the audio being flat though quite punchy imo

Interesting, seems pretty different from HD Radio.

Thanks. With DAB, when you lose the signal then you hear nothing. With HD Radio at least you can still get the AM signal if HD is not available.

Oh I see, so it’s like All Digital AM for everything.

Can you find AM radios on modern car radios in the UK.

Yes, since there still are MW stations here in the UK.
