I visited in August and I was so depressed when it was time to leave Ghana. I was on tour with about 12 others and we all felt the same way. To come back to America was not a happy feeling. I actually felt like I was leaving home to go to a foreign place. I have been dreaming to go back every since.

Growing up in Ghana 🇬🇭 the code of conduct was very strict and implemented to the core. At school, our teachers would spank us if we were wrong. Even someone in higher grade can punish a junior class for wrong doing.
Respect and tolerance was the order of the day.
Holidays were extremely fun with family and the whole neighborhood. The food was natural and I honestly didn’t know anything called homelessness, or knew there was anyone homeless.
Moved to America at age 14... now almost 30, doing adult and America is definitely not made for the African blood. Too individualistic and family members hating each other... that took me by surprise. Kids don’t play outside, and people don’t even have genuine friends.
Cops killing Our people left and right.
Well I used to idolize America as a kid in Ghana.
Now I can’t wait to go back home to Ghana 🇬🇭 and take my knowledge and skills to build and invest in my people and country!
We have our issues in Ghana (Africa in general) but we understand LIFE! And the value of LIFE!
I’m always sad when I go to black communities and see the systematic racist institutions. Food deserts, more drugs houses than grocery stores.
We will rise folks! I love that people are realizing the truth! And I love what you are doing!
Proud Asante (Ashanti) - Proud Akan - Proud Ghanaian 🇬🇭

The story of the African American and all Africans in diaspora is viewed by most of us in mainland Africa as akin to the story of Joseph in the bible. To most of us the Africans in diaspora are heroes and carry the blessings of the Almighty. U have passed through a lot but you carry the genes of invincibility. U are returning home to Africa as builders and innovators. The harsh treatments U endured has primed U up to build the homeland, we see U as long lost brothers and sisters that have finally returned home. We celebrate your coming back
and finally feel complete because our lost relatives are finally coming back. Come back home and continue from where U left off. There is enough land and opportunities here in Africa for every returnee. We await your coming with love and great expectation.

Thank you for all that you are doing Brother. I am an African who was born in Brooklyn, NY. I have been to Ghana twice and was blessed to visit Elmina Castle in 1999. My wife is Togolese. I have been teaching our correct history for 30 years. Your program is something I will share with others because not enough of us understand why we must go back. Just getting our children to accept the fact that they are Africans has been a struggle in my teaching experiences, but they do warm up to that fact by the time they leave my class. The more we are taught the truth about ourselves, the stronger we get. I am just a few short years from transplanting my life to Togo and beginning part two of my life. I can't wait! Peace and Blessings to you and all that you touch with your efforts.

I never heard anything negative about AA when I was growing in Africa. The missionaries only taught us about Christ and that was their objectives. I learned about slave trade in school but I thought that was so long ago, I had no idea the damage it had done to our brothers and sisters until I came to America in the early eighties. It was sad at first and then finding out that the AA really didn't want anything to do with us was more profound.

I just finished watching this video. My family is planning to travel to Ghana and Nigeria in December. I WANT YOU GUYS TO THINK ABOUT THIS!!!! At the end you referred to our spirit getting us through. BUT, our spirit is what allowed our ancestors to build pyramids that to this day, they cannot figure how we did it. I truly believe that as we come together we need to recapture that spirit. For in that spirit we still possess power. As we come together that power increases. That is their greatest fear. That is why they stripped us of our identity. Truly together we stand, divided we fall. Let us not fall again.

While the world looks back this year on that summer afternoon half a century ago, I am interested in taking us a bit further back, to the spring of 1957, when our beloved freedom dreamer Dr. King traveled across the Atlantic to witness Kwame Nkrumah become the first prime minister of the newly independent Ghana. In fact, the epigraph is from a lesser-known sermon, "The Birth of a New Nation," which King delivered to his congregation at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church upon his return from Ghana.

In every human, there's the spirit of the lamb and tiger. Don't take any one for a fool when they display their lamb side. Don't push the lion in them to roar because the damage could take years to build. Think before u act all the time & seek peace at all times with ur brethren. Remember this world owes u no favour. Harris I don't know the number castles and Forts that you have been visiting in Ghana but,I will suggest that in your next visit just tell your tour guide to take you to the remaining forts, that the Europeans built,The Europeans built 66 Castles and Forts in Africa and out of that Castles and Fort 46 is stationed in Ghana. There are more Forts and Castles which is not open to the public. For instance James Fort in Accra which was built by the British in 1673,in James Fort there are no dungeon but is a death sentence Fort built to punish the local rebels and the slave rebels, inside the huge James Fort is total darkness and is a condemn prison .James Fort has a big wall nails and roof nails, inmates there do not sleep, they squat till they die.
The next is Ussher Fort built by the Dutch in 1649,inside the Ussher Fort also have Holocaust dungeons that is not open to the public. The next is Kumasi Fort which is called the Armed Forces Museum, history tells us that Governor Rotary who stole the King of Ashanti gold to Britain after the defeat of Ashanti in Sir Garnet Woesley war, remember that the Ashantis fought 130 years war with the British the final defeat of the Ashantis was the Yaa Asantewaa war. When he landed in Britain his body began to decompose whiles he was alive and when he was dying he wrote in his will that is it because of the stolen gold that he is dying so that gold must be return to Ashanti, his wife shipped all the gold in huge boxes to Kumasi when the gold arrived in Ghana the first President Dr,Kwame Nkrumah wanted to claim the gold to Ghana coffers and Ashanti King too is claiming it to Manhyia Palace so in 1953 that Fort was built to keep the gold and it is under the Fort building till date.
I hope you will visit more tourist site in your next trip.

There are more history and tourist sites in Ghana that the tourist guides does not know,do you know that the First Coup Detat in West Africa was staged by a woman and she was Ashanti Queen, her name was Queen Abenaa Pokuaah. In 1720 to 1730 when the Ashanti empire was at its peak Queen Nana Abenaa Pokuaa staged a coup Detat and divided the Ashanti Kingdom into two, she took about four million people, when they rejected her son as a King, they are the one that lives at the present day Cote D'Ivoire or Ivory Coast,Queen Nana Abenaa Pokuaah was so powerful that when they reached the big river called Comoe she sacrificed her son to enable her and her men to cross the river Comoe, the blood is still there in Ivory Coast, all the people of Ivory Coast are all Ashantis.
You can google it is .Queen Nana Abenaa Pokua Ivory Coast and read the full story for your next radio programme she fought the French for so many years and claim all the lands from the local inhabitants.
You can also visit Ejisu Besease shrine in Ashanti where all the fish in the river has gold crown on their foreheads, is very beautiful although is a tourist attraction but is not open everyday.

When you are pregnant with a child, that child belongs to you alone. But the moment the child is out, he or she belongs to the community and like it is said. It takes the whole village to raise the child.

Talking about community, there is saying in the Akan Language, 'we are human because of the human beings'. to explain further, we are our brothers and sisters keeper. Elderly people in our community have the moral authority to put you on the right track irrespective of family affiliation, and its accepted.
