We Got Locked Inside A Remote Forest Bothy!

- It was one of those bothy nights where things did not work out for us, bad luck certainly does come in threes, it was afterall, Halloween weekend!
My Dad wanted to visit Glen Feshie and spend the night in Ruigh Aiteachain Bothy, but it just wasn't to be due to the swollen rivers. Plan B was hatched to stay in a forest bothy, where another surprise or two would unfold for us.
I was looking forward to filming Glen Feshie again, but it didn't quite work out and I wasn't going to bother posting this video, however I think it shares the importance of having a Plan B when spending the night out outdoors, whether camping or using a bothy and always expect the unexpected!

Thats me in your video leading by example by washing the dishes haha! It was good to meet you, and to see the video behind the story you told us. Good decision not trying to cross the streams on the friday night. Those streams were about 3x as deep and wide that night as they were on the saturday morning going back. Rory
When I read the first few words there, I thought you were going to say "thats me who locked you in"... 😂 It was hard to gauge properly in the dark just how deep it was, but it looked dodgy.

I've got a funny feeling it was deliberate mate, he seemed a bit off. But then you'd be a bit gutted if you arrived looking for a quiet night to yourself. Doesn't merit being locked in right enough. 😆

What a fiend of a creature of a person, what if there was a fire, pity you can’t find out who he/she is so you can at least ask him/her why they did such a horrible sociopathic act on your innocent selves, with your dad with you too, what a creature, I’m so sorry you had that experience, I hope you told the owner as this creature must be known to him if it had a key to turn in the lock. Terrifying experience, I would be sat there thinking shall I keep it locked so it can’t get in, or should I fight my way out so he/she can’t get back in, I would have run, or hid in a corner all night long in the dark without sleeping , horrible, hope your all ok now, genuinely feeling it for you. Jeeze, lucky that spade was in there, could have gotten messy! I don't understand how someone could accidently lock that to be honest. Sounds a bit dodgy to me! Glad you made it out unscathed 😉
My uncle wasn't amused and started to get panicky. We did have a signal, I might have phoned 101 if he didn't boot in the door. 😆

Crikey that brought back memories. I got locked in there as well several months ago but got out due to a couple of old girls arriving at 6 in the morning. I wont forget the dicks face ever. I was sure he did it deliberately. There is no way you could accidentally lock somebody in.
Jeez, someone else too! I emailed Natural Scotland about it, should have a two way latch. I'm sure he locked us in deliberately too. 🙄

Fair to say that was an eventful adventure, Robin. I love visiting a nice bothy but being locked in would put a dampener on things, particularly if your were on your own. All’s well that ends well as they say in these parts 👍

A lock is needed to prevent sheep or wild animals entering. But most MBA bothies have latches that open from the inside and outside. I think the boy might have been a bit annoyed we were already there. 🤔 That fallen tree was good. 😁

I think it was deliberate, I'm not convinced he was local though. He was kitted out for a night out, with a big pack. I wouldn't be surprised if he was headed to Feshie and had the same plan B as us? 🤔
