- In this video I build a set of pub style bartop tables from reclaimed pallet wood. These tables took an enormous amount of work to create. They are currently installed in a restaurant that recently opened alongside a set of dining tables that are coming out in a future video!

First and foremost, thank you for your craftsmanship....beautiful work sir, You are hereby applauded. Secondly, I have been working with 150 to 135 year old old growth redwood. I am recycling old homes and salvaging all the wood I can. All or mostly all is full of ancient hand forged square headed blacksmith nails. I watched you use your pneumatic nail remover on those pallet nails and just went out to buy one. I have been removing all those old nails by hand for the past ten years and didn't know such a device was even available. So thanks again for the video and your knowledge. I am now 87 years old and still working with wood and you just made my life and future easier. I for one, appreciate you.

Why would you not use Resin on that big of a Project. ESPECIALLY for a Bar Top?

Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

Beautiful job ! I did something similar when I was in 8th Grade Wood Shop Class back in 1961 . My Aunt & Uncle (Mom's older sister & her husband) owned & operated a Grocery Store & my Uncle was the Butcher . I made a New Butcher's Block for my Uncle with Racks & Hooks on the sides for his knives & saws . I made it using lumber scraps that I got from Housing Construction Sites . Everything was Finished with Ultra-Spar Varnish except the Upper 12 inches of the Butcher's Block which was saturated with Virgin Olive Oil because it was to be in contact with Raw Meat .
I understand the frustrations of preparing the boards but even i could see the finish work before it was completed. The preparation is what makes your work unique, a one of a kind piece so be proud of your work.
That nail remover is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. I need one now.
First video I saw with a denailer gun. I've salvaged hundreds of pallets and crates and have two of them. Those things are major work savers when salvaging wood material from crates and pallets!

Finally a really pallet built project not these fake home made ones that are brand new wood .. has absolutely no character to it .. i used a old pallet to make a 2 seater arm chair and it cane out so beautifully im now hooked on making more projects ... wish i could post a pic to show you ...

I come from a long line of wood workers and I commend you on your resourcefulness and craftsmanship. A project like this in so intensively labor intensive it is a wonder you were able to make a profit on the project. What you did is absolutely awesome, the meticulous work and attention to detail is just top tier. I love reclaimed wood and I love how you've given these pallets new life. I have to say I envy you a bit that you can just pull them off the street. I don't think it's a possibility in Poland, but after this video I will definitely give it a closer look.
On a personal note - I am building my amateur/semi-professional workshop right now and you gave me inspiration for my worktops - I used some old boards I had found in my grandfather's shed to build them. The only difference is I covered them with a solid layer of hard resin. After all, they're worktops. I didn't pay as much attention to detail as you, but they turned out fantastic. I even have the same planer, so I definitely know what you meant by "pushing the limits." Thank you for this video, it is awesome and made me subscribe. So you got another fan/disciple, this time from Poland! :) Great work, keep it up!

Nice! I did some coffee tables with that look. I cut quarter inch thick by one inch wide strips and glued them to cabinet grade plywood. It worked very well.

Will you have a wood stove in your new shop? With all the wood you burn outside you could save on the cost of heating the new shop. Modern wood stoves are pretty efficient and can be hooked into a duct system to distribute the heat. I had a cousin that heated his whole house, around 1800 square feet, with a wood stove hooked into the central air ducts. He was a carpenter and burned mostly the scrap wood from his projects. I have also seen fireplaces with an insert to heat the whole house while enjoying the fire.
It's so weird to see him burning the wood outside in winter while heating the workshop with a gas heater. What a waste.
@@tubybubi lots of pallets are made from wood chemically treated wood, so there's that to consider.

I'll never forget the day I got all excited and took most of a huge stack of pallets home on the ute. An hour and a half later I'd rudely torn apart one of them with a claw hammer and various unsuitable tools lol. Sitting on the floor of the garage looking up at the pile, thinking about how much work it would be to take them back where I got them.. Makes me chuckle. A few good tools made all the difference. Anyway, love the benches.

I run the same amazon special nail puncher, i run mine at 100-110 psi and the nails missile launch out the other side most of time, if you dont mind them being real deal projectiles, it saves the crow bar step.

It's worth to mention that only pallets marked as HT (heat treated) are safe to use for such projects. All other treatments could be to toxic.

(Newbie question) Is there any way to sand down/coat chemically treated pallet wood with a sealant so that it would be safe for indoor use?
I want to build a table/some other indoor furniture, but a lot of the pallets I find are not HT.

I'm currently working on something similar, using old maple hardwood flooring to create a large butcher-block style worktop in my garage/shop. I know you were limited by the size of the pallet boards, but would you say a certain length of each "board" works best, for the pattern you ended up with? Excluding scattered larger & shorter boards, for variety, of course. The flooring pieces I have range from as small as 14" up to almost 8' (only a few straight ones, at that length). I just want to create some good variety in the pattern, without it looking like it's one long board, with no character.

They are actually food service racks! Like the type lunch ladies' will put trays of food on, or bread makers will fill with baskets of loaves. They are super hand for woodworking too! Thanks for watching Michael!

Interesting Project. What I find a huge risk is wearing gloves on a table saw. There are numbers of how to make push-sticks out that prevents cutting fingers or hands in a running sawblade. Most Suppliers of circular saw deliver Security Parts like riving knife ans Dustcollector from above the Running blades. I found no reason why not to use them when cutting Boards to width. No hidden Cuts or something... I can urgently recommend those security items.
