  • The Napa Valley Wine Train is a luxurious and iconic excursion that takes passengers on a scenic journey through the picturesque Napa Valley wine country in California. As the name suggests, this experience combines the elegance of vintage rail travel with the world-renowned wine culture of the region, offering a unique and unforgettable way to explore the area's vineyards, wineries, and stunning landscapes.
    The train is normally pulled by two of the four late-1950s era Alco FPA-4 engines in the company's inventory. These engines were originally built by Montreal Locomotive Works and first owned by Canadian National Railway and later by Via Rail.
    The Napa Valley Wine Train said that its new locomotive will be “nearly silent and odorless,” enhancing the passenger travel experience as it complies with environmental regulations.
    Manufactured by Rolls-Royce and commissioned through the Knoxville Locomotive Works, the 1864 engine is designed to run with low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions that meet or exceed current EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) Tier 4 emissions classifications.
    The train itself is a beautifully restored vintage railcar, reminiscent of the golden age of train travel, with luxurious interiors featuring plush seating, polished wood paneling, and panoramic windows that provide sweeping views of the Napa Valley scenery. Passengers can relax in comfort as they embark on a leisurely journey through rolling hills, vineyards, and charming towns, enjoying the scenic beauty of the region from the comfort of their seat.
    But the highlight of the Napa Valley Wine Train experience is undoubtedly the onboard dining and wine-tasting experience. The train offers a variety of gourmet dining options, ranging from multi-course meals prepared by talented chefs using locally sourced ingredients to more casual dining experiences featuring California-inspired cuisine.

    It is quite large(lengthy). I'm surprised it is not more active. I loved the drove footage. It always gives me a "lift". Thanks Paul!

      The trains were running! 😂 idk what day you filmed this video but we have a new locomotive pulling our big main train and another small train that runs too! The yard usually isn’t busy as much especially on weekends but during the week our guys go back and forth in the yard doing whatever they need to do on keeping our locomotives running!
      Our ALCO FPA-4 locomotives you see are our original locomotives we have had since the beginning! All were built if I recall 1952 or 1954. The locomotives on the right 73/71 no longer run, they’re parts now for 72/70 you see on the left and we still run those locomotives when we need to! Our little 44Ton center cab runs still too and is on standby when we need it. 5076 the black one in the back we also use incase we need to swap locomotives sometimes. I work at the wine train so I should know

    Ooohhh okay it looks like you came like during the week when our big train doesn’t run on Tuesdays/Wednesdays for now but we still run pretty much 7 days a week throughout the year except the first 2 weeks every new year. The graffiti cars you see is our parts cars/bone yard. Our yard track goes down further to streblow crossing and that’s where our property line ends! Any other questions feel free to ask

      @remsterrailroading2679 I was hoping
      Thinking for more of a personal tour of the facilities and train. Would that be possible? My channel is growing pretty quickly. It would benefit your company and me.
