Gemballa and RUF were doing things with Porsche that Porsche was afraid to do. That's what's cool about the 911 platform, it led to a lot of crazy designs like the CTR2, which was actually mild compared to this.

I drove Pete Rose' (yeah, that Pete Rose) 1980 Porsche 935 that had gone through the coach building shop of DP. This was one twisted car, twin turbo, intercooler, stainless valvetrain, adjustable waste gates from the center console and many more mods that I can remember. I pulled the car outta our shop in an early Saturday morning industrial park and took off on an uninterrupted 2 mile stretch of asphalt that had me pegging 9 grand on tach and doing 265 kph (kph-mph conversion = 170 mph if I remember correctly) and that was at the high end of only second gear, I still had4 more to go but as I peeled my head off the seat back I finally saw that i had run entirely outta road in less than 10 seconds and if I didn't grab some binders real quick I would be cruising the lobby of Kuwahara North America at a hunnert miles an hour.
Be happy u didn't lose control or speed somewhere and some a hole jumped in to your lane not knowing ur gong 4 times the speed limit and are going make u shot pants immediately 😉
