- Yesterday, January 8th, was David Bowie's birthday, as well as Elvis'. Both singers were and still are influential to me. I am pleased to play these isolated tracks of David Bowie's first #1 American hit, Fame. Bowie breaks into the funk with Carlos Alomar, Dennis Davis, Emir Ksasan, and the late John Lennon. The song was written by David Bowie, Carlos Alomar, and John Lennon inspired by a riff that Carlos would jam on with Bowie. All these details are mentioned by Bowie and Lennon in this video. Grab something to drink and sit back and enjoy listening to the isolated tracks of Fame.

The ridiculously distorted electric guitar part was actually played by Bowie himself, and Alomar did the main riff and rhythm parts

@ 6.18, how was the octaving Fame repeat achieved? obviously, the track was recorded way before samplers were available...I'm aware they used The Eventide H910 Harmonizer on the album could it have been that? or maybe tape manipulation?
I’ve assumed it was created by tape and or changing the speeds of a delay.
@@Recordingcrave And can you verify specifically whose voice it is on the octaving Fame repeat? I've read in various articles that it's actually Lennon's voice. Or is it Bowie's?
@Airstrive Sounds like Bowie...not enough Liverpudlian to be John...listen to the intonation of how DB sings Fame...its his delivery on the famous chorus ending.
I've never been able to hear Lennon's vocals on Fame. Were they just the high pitched squeaks ?!
Where did you get these?
Seriously.. where?

Were those "stems" from AI? As an engineer, it didn't sound like they were actual breakdowns from the Multi-Tracks. Headphone bleed is one thing, but those sounded awkward to me. I just wasn't as interested as I hoped I would be when I saw the title. I want an engineer with access to the original multi-tracks, using mute buttons on the board.
Yez. Do NOT wear a jumpsuit.
