1st time I heard these guys sing this I cried. Thinking of all the broken families and relationships etc. " Never look down on someone unless you're admiring thier shoes or helping them back up"
One of the things I have come to truly love and appreciate about this group is their artistry in their interpretation of a lyric. This is a beautifully written song to begin with but somehow HF stripped it down further and left me feeling reflective, sorrowful, cleansed and evening uplifted at the end. Just moving in the simplicity of their harmonies and the steady, uncomplicated rhythm (actually, that beat contributed most to why I didn’t feel torn apart when the song ended.) I’m rambling but this is one of my favorites of theirs & it always leaves me feeling in awe of their talent and insight. Glad you gave it a listen.
Their harmonies with these lyrics gives me chills! So much deep meaning in those lyrics. Props to John Meyer for the lyrics, and Home Free for their interpretation. Thanks for the reaction!
Shoot me if you like, but their version is better than the original. The incredible thing about Home Free is they are just as clean and crisp live. It’s really quite astonishing. Their harmonies and vocals are pure magic.
Sang this in an audition for a fourteen-piece acapella choir. Started at the top and sang Tim's, Chance's, and Rob's parts through the first chorus. That's all they needed to hear... I got the part! 👍🏼😁😎
This is the reason why I listen to your process. Most reviewers talk about how great the performance was and how much they liked it. Anyone with ears, should already know that, unless you're related to Helen Keller and carry her genes. You go right into the message and promote the peace this country is missing. I worked in six different prisons for 25 years and if I could have blasted my I-Pod on the compound, I bet I could have save five of the 35 lives that I watched taken. I'm now off my soap box, God Bless
Doesn't matter what genre of music I listen to, there are some musicians/singers or just bits of music that literally give me chills. Home Free does this with several of their songs or versions of a song.
John Mayer is a master lyricist. Home Free's arrangement, vocals and exquisite harmonies were on point. I really appreciate Adam's simple heartbeat rhythm and the cinematography was beautiful. Love to hear your insights at the end.
Loved your reaction. I have to say this is one of my favorite Home Free songs they have done. Although Helplessly Hoping, Mayday, End of the Road, Auld Lang Syne & Do You Hear What I Hear are right up there with it. Looking forward to your future reactions & hope you have a great weekend.
Wow oh wow! I listen every day to Home Free, hear their songs over and over. They are my go-to guys! So the oh wow is for you! Your deep and insightful and soul-searching words truly impressed me. That's where I come from too, look at yourself first or at least as much as the other person. Thanks so much for your great reactions. Keep them coming! We'll be here!
Great commentary. That song is absolutely beautiful. The lyrics likely mean different things to different people. My mama is slipping away from me right now. Stage 4 Cancer. For me, I love that her blood is me. May the circle be Unbroken. Family is everything to me.
John Mayer is such a fantastic songwriter, those lyrics sparked some great insights from you. Of course, HF took it to the top with the haunting harmonies and simple, but inspired rhythm from Adam.
I love this one - beautiful singing, but also some very thoughtful lyrics. One of Home Free's many talents, I've always felt, is picking great songs to do their own versions of, songs that in many cases I hadn't heard before (being British and out of touch) but which I fell in love with anyway.
This has got to be one of my favorite reactions of yours due to the meaningful comments. I played their song for my 83 year old dad who recently had a stroke. He has been a preacher all my life, and it truly touched him. He listened to it every day for the four days I visited him after he came home. I also played your reaction just so he could hear your words of encouragement. Thank you.
A masterful song by John Mayer with the beautiful harmonies of Home Free make a powerful combination. So many questions to reflect on. I loved your insight and comments, especially “You’ve got to clean out your own closet first.” My favorite Home Free songs are the ones that carry a deeper message. Thanks for your reaction.
You share your insight and perspective about, not just the music, but life in your reaction videos...(where I grew up they would have said "you sure can preach, young man"). This song speaks so much to responsibility in life and sometimes our questioning about what is my part in a situation... can I change something, do I want to change something, will it make a difference. Certainly makes me think...
You might want to check out Home Free’s version of Keith Urban’s, “Blue Ain’t Your Color”, it’s done with a Motown flair. Also, Dreamer, Remember This, & Dive Bar Saints, are newer ones from their latest album. And just for fun, Hillbilly Bone. Thanks!
I really enjoyed the reaction on this one, it’s one of my favorite covers of theirs. It’s a great song by John Mayer. I’ve been a fan of Home Free for several years. I envy you your journey hearing all of these great songs for the first time. Enjoy the ride, brother.
What I like about your reactions is I can almost see the lyrics and the music as it affects you. And then your comments on the "story"of the song are spot on. Keep it up! And Thank you.
I finally broke down and got 2nd row tickets to Homefree in Charleston SC and it was FUCKING amazing. They are BETTER live than their albums. Go see them, trust me.
I love this song. I was adopted as a small child. My birth father walked away and my mom was not capable of taking care of her children. This song makes me wonder about who my parents were and about my brothers and sister. The family that adopted me - most of us do not have a relationship. I am the "black sheep" of the family. Have been for 31 years (tomorrow) after our Mother passed away. I do have a niece from by biological mothers side and her mom, my half sister who I am close with. I do have 3 half brothers . I heard one of them is dead, I have met one of them a few times but I freak him out because I resemble our mother very much and the other one is a manipulator and user. I cut off contact with him. I met my biological dad about 15 years ago and he wants nothing to do with me. He has 3 other children who are my half siblings, I have met my sisters and we have gotten together a handful of times but I have not met my brother. This song really touches me because I don't have any of those answers. I don't know my back story.
I think the age in which you figure this out is key. Often times it is far too late to even attempt to fix yourself, life seems to repeat patterns as you get older.
Love this from them Another one is helplessly hoping cover Btw i heard ya in another video saying the beat boxer in pentatonix really good and he is but check out adam rupps of home free concert "drum" solo you will be amazed
This is a song that makes you stop and think about the life you've led, verses the life you want to live. Can you make those changes? I believe if you work at it and pray about it, anything is possible if you want it bad enough. Thank you. I have to also agree with all of the points you made.
{aka} DJ Whisper ~ I missed it. 😥 I screwed up :( Now I live through everyone else I watch sing here. I made poor choices on through my life. Made a demo tape and it never went any further, my fault.....I missed the chance. I watch these reaction video's and I know my shit! I get mad at myself often....nothing I can do now....to old to fix it....missed the bus 😣 All I pray for now is to be able to sing in God's choir when I get there. Subscribed
I honestly believe we are incapable of lasting change outside of Jesus Christ and that can’t come u til we recognize the need that we have. Fortunately, we can do all things in Christ!
I may be late to the game, and you may have already reacted, but you’d enjoy Home Free’s cover of “The Gambler,” their tribute to the late great Kenny Rogers!
I love your serious reaction comments at the ends of the songs. I like the fun stuff, too, but it's easy to tell that you "know your stuff" musically, but also that you have a good understanding of people and life in general. Thank you again. I've seen on almost every one of these reactions, so far, that many people have asked you to react to this one, and I'm reiterating that--especially since we're getting so close to Christmas now... "Do You Hear What I Hear?" czcams.com/video/wIQQDYaoWpc/video.html Adam arranged this, and wrote the introduction as well. After you hear what Tim does in that one, you may want to queue this one up, as well. It's not Home Free. However, it IS Tim...and Peter Hollens, and you really shouldn't miss it... There's also a vocal range chart that you might like. You can find them at the following links, if you're interested. Love your reactions to anything Home Free...Out of curiosity, have you listened to any of their live performances (besides from the Sing Off)? Granted those depend on the quality of the person recording, but they sound great live too. :D Happy to hear what you have to say about these guys.
This is my first time to hear them sing this. The words … made me reflect on our childhood and how each one of us are today. {I think that last sentence was grammatically incorrect..} Some succeeded in overcoming the blood.
I think it is their latest - Everybody Walkin' This Land - a way powerful and spiritual statement about our common humanity. Is so, so timely given the pandemic, the murder of George Floyd and the way it broke the flood gates, and the attack on the Capitol. Giive it a listen.
Beautiful song by John Mayer, but this version is even better than original. Just love all of these guys, but, OMG! Love Tim.
1st time I heard these guys sing this I cried. Thinking of all the broken families and relationships etc.

I agree with you 100%
And they sound just like this live. Clean, crisp, beautiful harmonies with a back beat that will make professional drummers jealous.
Sang this in an audition for a fourteen-piece acapella choir. Started at the top and sang Tim's, Chance's, and Rob's parts through the first chorus. That's all they needed to hear... I got the part! 👍🏼😁😎

It’s amazing how we can hear a song covered by HOME FREE, and hear the song as a message, a story, in a way we don’t always do by the authors
John's amazing, deep lyrics, awesome Home Free's rich, harmonious, haunting version=🔥🔥🔥
You spoke words of wisdom and truth there. 👍
Doesn't matter what genre of music I listen to, there are some musicians/singers or just bits of music that literally give me chills. Home Free does this with several of their songs or versions of a song.

Beautiful song with beautiful harmony!

Great commentary. That song is absolutely beautiful. The lyrics likely mean different things to different people. My mama is slipping away from me right now. Stage 4 Cancer. For me, I love that her blood is me. May the circle be Unbroken. Family is everything to me.
Listening to Home Free is a rabbit hole that always pulls me down. Such irresistible music.
This is my favorite song by Home Free. Thanks for the cover. The beat boxing sounds like a heartbeat. It was so moving.!!!
So much truth and done so beautifully.
John Mayer is such a fantastic songwriter, those lyrics sparked some great insights from you. Of course, HF took it to the top with the haunting harmonies and simple, but inspired rhythm from Adam.
I sure appreciate your reactions. So thoughtful and heartfelt. I can tell you have LIVED!

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.
Two points: you have the best acoustic mix between your vocals and the song, and kudos for the proper use of "whomever".
Such an awesome song. Talk about reaching inside to look at real life!
Love your comments from a Christian standpoint to this song.
Home Free - Wake Me Up

This is so beautiful and so deep.
This is one of my favorite Home Free covers.
The percussion sounds like a heart beat. This is so deep.
I loved your comments about the meaning(s) behind the music.
I love this song. They do it so well

One of my favorite Home Free songs. The words (tearful), the harmony (outstanding), the music/singing (perfect)!
It's a strong, powerful song. HF sang it well. Makes you think about a lot of things. Thanks! ^_^
Your comments on this video is why I subcribed to your channel...you sir are awesome keep going
Such an awesome message!! We need to determine how we will survive! Such a beautiful arrangement by HF

They are just as impressive live! I love that you stop the video when you comment and back it up before starting again so you don’t miss anything.
Excellent reaction. You have a tender spirit.
Bro, just found you. Your reaction is so pure and you let Home Free shine without talking on top of them. Thank you for that.
Meaningful song , done in an amazing way...one of my favorite covers...they also do a great song "Thank God for This Woman Amen"
This song is so wonderful and deep. Home Free does it perfectly. Thank you.
One of my favorites! 🥰😭🥰 Great and thoughtful reaction. ❤ Thank you Sir.
I really enjoyed the reaction on this one, it’s one of my favorite covers of theirs. It’s a great song by John Mayer. I’ve been a fan of Home Free for several years. I envy you your journey hearing all of these great songs for the first time. Enjoy the ride, brother.
John Mayer wrote a classic with this one....legend !
Very well done.
One I like that does not seem to get reacted to much is Children Go Where I Send Thee with Kenny Rogers.
Change is almost always hard, and almost always worth the effort. Thank you DramaSydE.
What I like about your reactions is I can almost see the lyrics and the music as it affects you. And then your comments on the "story"of the song are spot on. Keep it up! And Thank you.
I did an experiment. I love this song so I watched over 80 reactors. You are the best. Most genuine. Thank you I'm a sub.
This is one of my favorites by Home Free. Such a poignant song.

Those of us who are Christians ought to know deep down, that we can change with the help of the Lord.

Great reaction, a usual.Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On is a great mashup they do. Seamless transitions. Video done in one shot❤❤
Serious Respect to you sir. Thanks for reacting. Man of Constant Sorrow should be on the list. *edited... you are ahead of and in the game, my bad*

This song speaks volumes to me and I assume it resonates with many other people.
Loved this one! First time hearing. Another great reaction from you and very poignant words. Thanks brother!
I watch a lot of reactions, but your assessment is so deep and meaningful. Thanks.
Love this from them

This is so beautiful
With the upcoming holidays, please react to "Do You Hear What I Hear", you will LOVE it!
😮😍😍😍Powerful 💜🥰✌🏽
You don't need no stinking recommendation. Pretty much they're all worth reacting to.

Nice perspective and reaction.
again I like the cover better than the original!!
You are wise.
Their acapella is so clear and unified that you almost forget that they don't have any instruments backing them, it's all oral.
I may be late to the game, and you may have already reacted, but you’d enjoy Home Free’s cover of “The Gambler,” their tribute to the late great Kenny Rogers!

Thank you, I just watched you search your own soul,
If you haven't done it already, if say do Home Free's version of The O'Jays Love Train. It's a lot of fun.
Man they can sing! Awesome
Man of constant sorrow
