  • Hello Flyers, In this video I am showing you a new way to not only keep your birds feed sanitary but also a simpler method to limit feed quantity to training racing pigeons. Its a very simple design that allows you to easily close off the feeder to stop birds from over-feeding. keeping your young birds ready to return home or trap into the loft quickly. Why remove the entire feeder and replace it everyday? Its much quicker/ easier to just close the feeder shut, like I demonstrate in this video. Hope that this video is beneficial to you and fellow flyers. as always good luck rearing and racing young birds this year! Subscribe

    Great idea, i wonder if you could mount some sort of spinner on the top so they can't sit on it.

    Wow, your setup looks awesome. Your feeder is so smart. My mentor has been telling me the same thing about taking the feed away but I have been to soft and have ended up with fat birds that don't always listen. This season will be different. Thank you very much for the great info and video!

    Curious why such a low roof. They seem kind of cramped reaching in for grain.

      Good question, I made it short so they couldn’t stand on top of eachother trying to get to the food, they have to line up side by side only. Just important to not have to many birds per feeder.

    It looks nice and clean since you have just built it, but such a flat surface like that will soon be a resting and pooping spot for pigeons.
    Great idea for the feeder, though!

      agreed a peaked topper might help keep them off, but i really like your design, im thinking a dowel for pivot may last longer too

      Agreed it will get dirty quick but it is easy to scrap at the same time the floor is scraped!

    looks like a great idea to me. I am very new to pigeons, and need to build something better to feed in. Would you be willing to share some dimensions? how wide and tall are they? thanks

    nice. i just have a question why you would like to close the feed, why or when? as long the feed is in the runner you want they be able to eat?

    • @ooatv2150
      @ooatv2150  Před rokem

      So when you are training and racing young pigeons you want them to stay slightly hungry so that it motivates them to return to the loft and to go in through the trap door quickly. The longer they wait around on the roof of the loft the higher the chance of a hawk attack.
