Hi everyone. In this video I share how I use water-based markers to colour on a page pre-prepared with Golden satin glazing liquid.
I have previously shown how I pre-prepare a page with Golden satin glazing liquid in this video: • Using Satin Glazing Li...
Thanks for watching! - Zábava
I have just done a coate of the Golden satin glazing liquid in a lulu Mayo book. .....thank you for your tips and tricks xxxxx
Yes K, this was helpful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 All that you show us on your channel is helpful and I think I speak for all your subscribers when I say Thanks for taking time out of your day to film and share your videos!😘😍🥰
Thank you so much Shelly 😊💕
This was very helpful K, thank you so much for taking the time to do a video!
I wondered if this was possible, and now I know. Yippee! I can now use my Arteza Twimarkers and Watercolour Brush Pens in colouring books without having to use a mixing palette. Thank you for sharing this technique.
Have fun with it and thanks for watching 💕😊
You are an amazing colorist!
Thanks....hope you feel better!!!
Thanks so much Carol ❤️😊
Thank you for sharing! I use Tombows a lot and at the start of my colouring journey I tried normal gesso 🤦🏻♀️ i quickly realised it will destroy my pens. I am still scared to use the satin glazing liquid….but I would so love to be able to blend with them on paper 😱
Thanks for taking the time to share in so much detail!! 🤗💗
Yes, Tombow pens are quite expensive so I don’t blame you for being hesitant with using on the pre-prepared pages. Thanks for watching and love your channel by the way 💕😊
I loved seeing how you do this. Thank you for taking the time to film and share with us.
I like the way you get a transparent watercolor effect on the last leaves you did. Also, I find the full color blends to be lovely. Thanks for the video.
Thank you very much 😊
Very helpful demonstration K. Thanks So Much!!!🙋🌺
Thank you Valerie x
I really like this blending technique. I have the Arteza markers, so thanks for showing how to use them.
Lovely! Thank you K. The markers look really good. I am trying to work out which is the best way to go, for me. Sara x
You are so welcome!
I got my local art shop to order the satin glazing liquid. You work is always beautiful.
Thanks Cheryl, hope you enjoy using it 😊
I use the glazing liquid too from time to time, and the Pitt Pens work great on it, they dry faster than other waterbased markers on it. The colours are also lighter, which is awesome. Thx for the video.
Thanks for letting me know, I must try my Pitt ones on there as I’ve never tried it before.
Thank you for sharing this K!! It is a great technique for getting your markers more use ☺️❤️
Thanks Erica! 💕😊
It’s very useful. I’ll give this a go, I have so many water based markers that are languishing in boxes. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Sonya 💕😊
Thank you so much K, it was very usefull. I like the watercolour effect of the last method the most, but I will try them all in the future, I know don't have a lot of water based markers, just one cheap set from Decotime in a store called Action here in the Netherlands, normally I put some marker on a pallet and pick it up with my waterbrush and paint it on, I will try your last method on a pdf coloring page to practice this and see how they work this way. I want to prevent fluffing up my beautiful coloring books, beter try a pdf first 🤪.
I am still working on my Lenka Filonenko coloring page Mother Earth out of her new book Fairy Bliss, I love how she is turning out 😊.
Have a really nice weekend dear K, greetings Jessica Roks 🥰💜
Thanks Jessica, hope your page is going well x
Excellent tutorial K. I bought Satin Glazing liquid nearly a year ago, when you first did a different demo with it. Thank you for introducing this product, a definite game changer to my colouring. At the moment I am colouring in Dragon Dreams by RJ Hampson, his newest book. Brilliant illustrations. i hope you are feeling better.
Thanks Alisa, I just got that dragons book and I can’t wait to colour in it!
A very useful video ( by the way, as always 😊). Thank you so much for the tips🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for watching Lana 😊
It was very useful! Thanks for sharing!!! 😍🙃🤩❣️🌹❣️
Thanks for watching Rana x
Thank you, off to try this.💖
Thanks for watching 😊
This is the video I have needed! I am new to the coloring book scene and this video is the most helpful and useful video I have seen. I have seen videos about satin glazing liquid before, but I appreciate the fact that you showed various products that would be useful for coloring. Before this video, I had only seen the usual watercolors, neocolor II, and colored pencils. Your video has been eye opening and has made the thought of coloring much more fun for me. THANK YOU for doing a video like this.
Also, can you do a video showing the glitter items you used in your books? If you have already done this, then I apologize for asking again. Your channel randomly popped up on my feed so I haven't seen all your videos yet.
Thanks so much, I have a recent video with a title something like favourite glitter and shine products I use in my colouring books on my channel you may be interested in. Happy colouring x
@@ColouringwithK thanks
I’m using Polychromos and colouring the first couple of pages in JB’s Worlds of Wonder the introduction and Guide pages
Those pages in JB’s WoW are really pretty, hope it’s going well 😊
Thank you, K. I bought the satin glazing. I'm rearranging my desk area, but excited to try this. Have you tried colored pencils over the glaze? Just wondering if it works.
Hi Christine. I have tried pencil and they work okay, it is quite a toothy surface and I prefer to use a harder pencil on there. Thanks for watching 😊
I'm colouring the last page of Colouring Heaven's Woodland Fantasy Special Issue 30. And I have discovered that the paper is really good for Tombow Irojiten pencils! They are working really nicely on this paper.
I also have a WIP in Matchstick Mouse Summer, which will get finished this weekend. I'm using alcohol markers and pencils. I also have WIPs in Ursula Schwab's Waldgefluster (snake page, almost finished but stalled on the snake!). And another WIP in Jade Summer's Delicious Food, a picnic page, but I'm bored with it. I will get it finished though. I will not start anything else until I've done these WIPs apart from Matchstick Mouse, I love that little book and will colour in it whenever I fancy.
I hope you are not going down with something! Positive vibes.
Thanks Sue; hope you get lots of colouring done during the coming bank holiday weekend and have fun xx
Enjoyed video liked watching your process with markers i bought the glaze to use on my pages......mikelle art mom🎨👩🎨✍
Have fun with the new medium, thanks for watching!
Thank you K, a really helpful tutorial. Where do you get the satin glaze finish, forgive if you've given out this information before, but I would quite like to try it. I don't get along with alcohol markers either, just can't blend with them. Keep well 💖
Thanks Kate. I usually purchase it from Jackson’s art online
I have been searching for an answer about something regarding Gold Satin Glazing. Do you think that it would be a good paper prep in coloring books when someone would plan to use Faber Castell Pitt Pastels and Poly Chromos together? I assume that since there is not a lot of texture in most coloring books it would help the paper be more like pastel mat? I am planning to spray fixative between layers as well.
I’m not too sure, golden satin glaze does give a rougher texture but not as rough as gesso, you could try it on a tester page in your colouring book. I’ve never tried it. I have used Polys on a prepped page and they work quite well in my opinion.
@@ColouringwithK thank you K for answering I have a practice Magical Dawn and Enchanted Forest and I put Satin glazing in one and Textured Colored Pencil Fixative in the other. and I will give it a shot.
Coloring Molly Harrison fairy and dragon on gray tone paper.
Sounds great, good luck and hope it’s going well 😊
Does the satin glazing liquid work for alcohol markers as i heard gesso ruins brush tip markers?
Satin glaze liquid gives a smoother finish than gesso so it’s better but I wouldn’t use the expensive alcohol markers on it. Try it out and see what you think!
Hi! Does the sating glaze liquid have a strong odour? I have asthma and migraines.
Hi, not really. It doesn’t really have a smell but my sense of smell is not the same since having covid! Sorry 😊
I would love to try this. Do you think Crayola Super Tips would work?
Yes, I think Crayola super tips should work!
@@ColouringwithK thank you. I also have Ohuhu water based makers I’m going to try.
💜💜💜🇬🇧
Thank you!
I’ve reached a complete dead end. I have lost confidence in choosing colour a and the more great colouring I see the more I feel down about mine FWP for sure. I need to kick myself up the backside
I feel like that sometimes... then I do a colour along. I don't have to choose the colours, I just copy someone else. The result is usually great. If I don't like some of the colours I adapt the colour palatte. It makes me feel better and I learn a lot about different techniques.
I feel like that at times too, sometimes I’m just not happy with the page I’ve created and feel like the colouring is just not good enough. Just take a break, do something else and come back to it later with fresh eyes. Often that does help me. We are our own worst critics, keep going xx
Im working on the dolphins in Fragile World.
I really need to colour in that book at some point!
@@ColouringwithK It’s one of my favorites.
