One thing I’ve discovered is that INFJ are at their core, seeking intimacy. You can hear it in every interaction, on every level from the platonic to romantic. It’s also interesting that they’re also the most private types. Every type has their internal contradiction and this is theirs.

I love Ren's take on Ni dom understanding Ni dom and seeing through it. I've recently made a few new INxJ friends (and have been talking more with other INxJ friends) and it's been very refreshing in a special way where it's like we're playing chess with each other but in a collaborative way instead of competitive.

I am similar, I need the person to be on the same wavelength as me. Ni dom are mysterious, private, inaccessible, modeste, I totally agree.
Too deep, too quick, 🥰it's really this for Ni dom, direct to the essential information ! It can seem really weird or inappropriate, but it work well for us, it's our functioning, our way of being, we don't want be bothered by irrelevant details or spend more time and energy than necessary. Ni dom it's as if we know each other since the eternity.
Ni dom goal : be understood ?
For the first half of the discussion I thought I was going to have to say something about chemistry needing to be present before much of anything else feels worth pursuing. But you guys got there.
Back when I was Match-ing, I called it scanning the other. I was doing it, and so were they, regardless of personality type. So the trick was to have fun, while conducting a two-way interview for a potential position in each other's lives. Everything, yet nothing, was at stake. Crazy process.
I feel like I'm "dating" everyone I meet as potential friends (asexual and disinterested in a relationship). Understanding how others think while having a different perspective to peer into is fascinating. The weird and or taboo stuff is fine around me as long as space can be held for me to share that side of myself too. Witnessing people existing comfortably in their humanity and their most authentic self is an honor to behold and interact with.
Seems an INFJ- INFJ relationship is the holy grail.......
But the fun roasting must be on another level???😂
Sometimes I let people see just a glimmer of who I really am to shocked realisation that they don't know me at all!😅😅
I wonder if there is a pattern in what people are attracted to, when it comes to types. Logically, I would assume the opposite is more attractive. However, not everyone thinks so. Which things would influence why certain people are more attracted to similarity and others opposition? When 2 people are the same, I would guess it helps you to become even a better specialist in the areas that are your speciality (like your first functions) as both peopel focus on the same thing, while an oppositional relatoinship would make a person more a generalist, as it might stimulate areas of weakness (inferior function).
However, at the same time I could see an oppositional relationship make you more of a specialist, as the partner might take care of your areas of weakness so you do not have to become more balanced, which then again makes a person focus more on their dominant function again. However, as a team (both people in that relationship together) basically cover eachothers weaknesses, which make the team as a whole becomes generalistic again as there is equal focus on all functions in the stack (in the case of a dual relationship)
Well said (regarding that there can be opportunities for specializing and generalizing in both similar-couples and opposite-couples) I don't think people often come to that conclusion, so I found it well thought out.
In regards to your initial question of what things would influence certain people's attraction - has to do with that person's past experience of where they are at, and what they are looking for. People who are attracted to partners who are similar to them, are most likely attracted because they have an unfulfilled need (or desire) for belonging and/or validation (this world is too chaotic and I'm looking for a home) as they may have been feeling displaced, alienated or invalidated and similar partners can provide antidotes to that. People who are attracted to partners who are opposite to them, are most likely attracted because they have unfulfilled need/desire for adventure and/or novelty (my home is too comfortable, and I'm looking to explore something new). Likewise, they may have been feeling in a rut, restless/bored or just simply disatisfied/discontent.
There's an expression "Timing is everything" implying a stars aligning thing with romantic attraction. I think most people want to explore some kind of balance of enough similarities to feel at home, and enough of a difference to feel interesting.

That fortress he talks about is so true. Even though lots of feelings and ideas are shared, there's still so many layers to discover. The Ni-Fe stack is absolutely wonderful to match my Fe-Si. Great video! 👏👏👏

@The Ultimate Disciple Ah yes, the Ti comes as intense when my INFJ partner asks questions that are personal. But my Ti will only be defensive if I feel I'm being attacked for competence and reliability.
As long as we both reason well with each other with good communication, and as long as we keep the relationship not so boring, it should go well. We'll see how it goes lol
INFJ here married to an ESFJ 😊 Don't be discouraged! It can work. The biggest struggles we've had are Fe imbalance because it's so high in both our stacks, needing to balance time at home vs. time socializing, and seeing the world so differently. We connect on our Fe and we're intrigued by the other person's Ni/Si.
Marry ❤😂 always marry. It’s an interesting ride… for the INFJ with an ENFP. Haha yep we are intense together. Brad for life ❤. So glad that we figured out that he is an INFJ. Haha now I really believe in MBTI.

I do like to find someone on my wave length, it's nice to feel and know that they get you and are just as interested as you are. But to be honest being that head space for too long can get melancholic and depressing. I feel too detached and disconnected from my partner. I like to have fun and keep things jovial too where we're not always pointing out the meaning or reasonings for things. I totally get him with the silly side too.
Always related to Ren. Been watching his channel from it's beginning.
