    📜 history:
In written sources, the name of the settlement appeared for the first time in 1234. It was a small forest settlement that served as a base for princely hunters. The town was founded under German law probably in 1290 by Bolesław I, Duke of Opole. In the years 1317-1382 Strzelce remained the capital of a separate Piast principality ruled by its own ducal line (Albert and Bolesław III). In later years, connected with the Niemodlin land, it still constitutes a separate political organism. After the death of the last Piast of Strzelce and Niemodlin, Bolesław V Wołoszek in 1460, Strzelce (and Niemodlin) were again incorporated into the Duchy of Opole.
A reminder of the Piast period is the ruin of the palace - originally the castle of the Opole and Strzelce dukes.
