Oktober 2019).
We did not publish this video during his lifetime because it shows an already weakened Mariss Jansons. But it also shows the Mariss Jansons who let nothing stop him from working with "his" orchestra, shaping the music. He lived for and through music. This is exactly what makes the memory of our former chief conductor so cherished. He will always remain in the hearts of the members of the BRSO. On December 1st is the first anniversary of his death.
(The video was made during the last tour with Mariss Jansons at the Musikverein in Vienna on October 27, 2019)

Can't believe that this was 35 days before he died.... his body gave up, even his heart, but his passion burned in him

I am not sure I would agree that this shows Mariss Jansons as "weakened." He is physically frail, but there is nothing weak about his passionate connection with Brahms' music, nor about his intimate connection with the musicians he loved so much. That love was the base upon which he built his exceptional musical edifaces, and he is glowing with it here. Thank you for sharing this beautiful glimpse from his last days.

Every note and phrase was important to him. Seeing him conduct his final concert at Carnegie Hall was heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time.

I still miss him еven though it's been a long time. Music is chaos without him... Eternal memory

Despite slightly frail in appearance, the Maestro still looks like he has so much wonderful music to make and share! All the best to the orchestra, including the search for the next Chief Conductor to build upon Maestro Jansons's legacy that is this beautiful orchestra that he help shaped!

The body and the soul were completely different entities. This seemed as if his soul were that of a youth! And indeed his soul survived and carried his legacy up till now and through into the future~
