Got the same impression. This will be a wild ride, a good one at that.
While most of the games have a moment of breaking the fourth wall.... This game appears to not have a 4th wall to break because it simply don't exists.
You're right-I've always liked to think of AIKODE's approach to the fourth wall as "crossing it" rather than "breaking it." Many games that break the fourth wall end up disrupting their whole story (or just use it as an funny easter egg), but in AIKODE Instead of breaking the wall, it blends the fictional world with the real one, making everything one cohesive experience. The game uses our real-life setting to enhance the story without losing track of the video game roots.
This concept will be even better in the final game and throughout the whole saga, a pretty unique experience for sure!
Man, I Iove these sort of narratives. Nier gestalt/Repliclant is in my top three video games of all time. I remember after completing all the endings, I sat on my chair, as the credit was rolling, and reflected on what I had just experienced. I felt something I couldn't quite explain, but I loved what I was feeling and have been looking for a game to make me feel like that again. Watching this demo made me experience that feeling again. I really hope you'll be able to see your vision through to completion, so the world can experience it. This was eerie, haunting and beautiful all at once. You deserve praise.

To me , this is not only a game.. it's a philosophical piece .... The story made me think about a lot of philosophical questions again!!

Have been following your development of the game for a while now and it still amazes me how much you've been able to achieve. Can't wait for the release!
Great job on the production value. All the little details with cloth physics, water on skin, npcs, world interaction and screen fx, scene changes, and cutscenes. I mean what’s next, damp clothes with modified cloth physics when you’re wet? Haha. So many cool little things going on that most people in the indie level of development wouldn’t care to put in their game especially the smaller things that require attention to detail. The VA and composer did an amazing job as well. Looking like a legit Square Enix / Nier - esque title. Also getting some Kojima vibes with the Easter eggs. Nice to see more footage of the combat as well. Best of luck with the project! Looking pretty fleshed out as a full game just from these footages.
I really love the magical moveset. You pull it off well with the movement and vfx. It’s veeery difficult to figure things out in terms of magic attacks in a hack and slash games. I try to look at characters like Gengchen from Aether Gazer, Luna from PGR, True Kagura from Estival Versus. I haven’t seen this type of moveset pulled off in a semi realistic game though. But man you really need customized or highly modified vfx to fit the movements of the character and you kinda nailed that part.

I spent 24 minutes wondering if I’ve put hope in the wrong game, if I spent the last months obsessed about a product that, in the end, was not going to deliver, hyped by a Nier-esque trailer.
The gameplay looked confusing, the music (although BEAUTIFUL) one after another in a chaotic way, the dialogues and gameplay options not making sense, the random tutorials and random objective, one new mechanic after another, looking almost as a desperate attempt at patching every cool existing concept together…
But I resisted. I resisted 24 minutes. And after that long wait… it suddenly started making sense. I was now understanding.
The degradation of a mind… memories trying to create a message… this is the game. It’s trying to create a message, and it won’t be clear at first glance.
Maybe I’m just way too hyped, or maybe I _did_ choose the right game.
It’s definitely NOT a game for everyone and I want to clarify that this demo is not like the final game (from a narrative point of view), because the game is much more narrative (despite having parts similar to this)... but it’s a demo that you have you have to watch it several times to understand it... and above all, analyze it, it’s a game that doesn’t treat the public like someone stupid, and expects the player to know how to see between the lines, this is my type of narrative.
Most movies or games, when they want to show someone's degradation, do it in a very unsubtle way (too much in your face), in this case it’s a first-person degradation, everything is written and created in a specific way, to CONVEY that degradation, in the world of AIKODE this is what happens when you sign the contract with a puppet...
I'm glad that you were able to see part of what I wanted to convey with this demo in the end!
On the other hand, let me explain how this connects with the lore of the game (even though It's something I don't like to do)...
The demo is about Aiko and the puppet, we have the puppet who looks like Nia (pink hair girl character)... that's why the puppet says to Aiko “look at me, I am what you truly desire” (Aiko desires to be Nia or desires Nia)
However the puppet in this demo tells Aiko that she (Aiko) is not Nia.
The confusing thing about this demo is that you jump between multiple characters, however this DEMO is just Aiko’s mind messing with her… This is actually explained on the intro: “from now on you will experience the degradation of a mind”…
Aiko just wants to be happy on the Sector F town as Nia, with her robot Lamy, looking out for Emma… but the puppet is “breaking” those memories all the time, that's why you also see sector F on fire, the puppet is trying to make Aiko understand Aiko's reality (her real reality… not this loop that Aiko fabricated)
I recommend reading the characters section on the AIKODE website (and the world section too if you want to theorize more)

That’s exactly the first idea I got from this demo.
You’re telling us from the very first moment what this game/story is gonna be about… but I was too blind to understand it.
It took me the whole demo to finally realize the “true” (at least for what you’ve given us so far) meaning of those first words, and seriously… if this is your narrative, I’m completely sold.
You are definitely cooking something, and I can’t wait to live this first-person degradation of a mind.
Damn you explained everything I thought too! I was like, the hell? Everything went so fast and so full of information after information at once. Like you said, it felt a little chaotic. Just to understand at the end that it should be like this. Honestly, I still have many questions. But I don’t want them to get answered, love to wait for the game and try to figure it out myself. Hope the Developer reaches for what he aims for and i‘m sure he will be rewarded for that. Best of Luck 🙌🏽

Woah, Just getting more excited and hyped🤩. Lighting is really nice, characters are top, ambientation is really good, UI is AWESOME (The Ui in the start of the game is Top tier📈), and story is interesting.

I've been waiting for this game since I've seen the very first trailer... Its themes are some of my favorite in the media as a whole. I'm interested in philosophy and analytical psychology and this game feels like home to me with its imagery and dialogues.
Just learned about this game.. What I'm seeing is Nier, Kingdom hearts, Final Fantasy, and the matrix all had a baby. And I'm SOOO down for that idea! I'll be keeping an eye on this from now on :P

Just finished watching... oh my god! I've been following your progress for quite a while and even then, i was so pleasantly surprised by this, your storytelling style is absolutely down my alley, your environments are gorgeous, the combat is fluid and the movesets are beautiful, particularly loved all the ballerina inspired moves. The voice acting is really nice too!
For a while i've tried talking about this game with everyone i know that could be interested, have even brought it up in the NieR reddit a couple times and just to let you know, almost everyone there who knows about it is looking forward to it. On that note, have you posted this on twitter? I remember Yoko Taro reacting the first time you unveiled your project, i'm sure he'd be even more hyped now with all your progress, i know i am. Can't wait for the public demo, keep it up!

I've never actively followed the development of this game since i just saw some gameplay clips on twitter, and while I liked the combat I knew anything about its story. At first glance it looked like one of those generic stories where "this is the bad guy, kill him and save the world!" but 2 minuets in made me realize that there's so much more that just that, really looking forward to this

Seriously! What's the point of having the title of "AAA Developer" if what they pump out is garbage compared to the hard work and passion of one dude in Spain! Well done ACE! And unlike CDPR and how they lied that Cyberpunk 2077 would be released "when it's ready", I fully expect this game to come out entirely polished. While I am eager to play this game myself, I will happily as long as needed, so please take all the time you need to make this game what it deserves to be!

I have been following the development of AIKODE for the longest time now, and everything about it is absolutely magnificent.
Couple of questions though:
1. Were the Kingdom of Decay and one of the transitions in the ending and boss fight inspired by Scala Ad Caelum and The Final World from Kingdom Hearts III Respectively? If so, I absolutely love the reference.
2. The HUD elements and subtitles in this video were flickering, which is a characteristic of a non native implementation of FSR3 I believe, so will AIKODE contain any upscaling methods? (It may be due to a completely different reason so disregard this question if so haha).
Absolutely cannot wait for the public release of the demo and hopefully the subsequent full release of this game. Well done Ace, your work is marvelous. (Kudos to Kkev for the awesome music showcased in this demo)

1. Yeah, there are some inspirations from kingdom hearts! Schrödinger town was inspired by altissia from FFXV and scala yeah!

I still have a hard time believing this was all put together by one person. I know a ridiculous amount of time was put into this game and it shows.

This is a reference to the “Schrödinger cat” experiment, a cat in an opaque closed box, dead and alive at the same time but in different worlds, when you kill a cat in Schrödinger Town you are “opening the box” and deciding the state of the cat, if you don’t kill them you are also deciding the state, it’s up to the player.
I decided to kill the cats to show the ending easter egg (the punishment)
I'm really looking forward to this game, just one thing, please have subtitles in Portuguese/Brazilian, I even understand English, but there's nothing like playing something you like in your native language, plus it increases the audience that becomes interested.

Some areas are inspired in gravity rush, others in kh, ffxv and 13, movement in nier automata and ffxv, art style in ff13 and kingdom hearts, drakengard and nier vibes too, etc…
Then you also have persona inspirations, steins gate, etc…
