The horror of the sense of guilt that we put on ourselves for things we couldn't control. Bautifully done. Very touching.
Yeah when we lose someone we always think we could have stopped it somehow.
Guilt is eating her up , the therapist is right about her deleting the message... it will be the first step to helping her move on, not that you'd ever get over something so terrible as losing someone to suicide though.
Loved it! I lost my dad to suicide 5 years ago. The monsters in our heads can be way scarier than the ones with red glowing eyes and blooddy fangs. Thank you for this ❤
26 years ago my best friend ended his life. I was the last person he spoke to. I have never been able to let go of the guilt. I was so dismissive during our last conversation. I beg all of you out there to listen to the people you truly love. You don’t know what could happen.

Survivors guilt is a very real and heart breaking thing for someone to endure. I personally have not gone through it myself but I have close friends and family who’ve been decimated by the fact that they weren’t there. My heart goes out to those people.. your feelings are valid, but you are not to blame - be kind to yourself ❤️

I like to think the part where she decides to keep the voicemail is a way of saying overcoming guilt is a process. She JUST took the step of not blaming herself - of course she’s not ready to delete the vm yet
WoW!! This was REALLY great! My husband committed suicide when we were 23 and 25 respectively. I have always felt like it was my fault, and that I could of done something. This film really resonated with me. ❤
My dad too.
My husband too committed suicide when he was around 30. Though I was out of station, there were others at home. Off course that time they had gone out for job etc.
It took me many many years to accept his death. Keep on thinking only if he had called me once or just sent me a message, maybe things could have been different

My step dad committed suicide on dec 29th 2010. Just 13 days after my son was born. I was only 30 years old. Not only was it devastating to everyone that knew him, we had NO idea he was that unhappy and still have no idea why he did it! He didn’t leave a note explaining why, he just wanted us to tell everyone he had a heart attack. I found him in the garage dead. They say men do it for 3 reasons, sex, money or dignity. To me it makes sense because he was having issues with all 3.

This was so heartbreaking. The true terror of grief is wishing we could have done more to save someone. Kudos to the director and also to Dia Frampton. Been a fan of her music for years and so happy to see her acting as well. She is talented and I can't wait to see what else she does in her career!
This is both beautiful and horrific. The care taken in this film was where the beauty lies as it tackles an immensely difficult topic. The horror is on the topic itself and in the survivors guilt.
As a Mental Health Counselor, I also found this to be very profound. Sadly, this is a real thing.
I can see this story in two ways. 1) Stef needed this and confronted the demons in her own mind. 2). Her friend came back as a ghost to help her through the guilt to a place where she can integrate the grief and move forward. Both interpretations work for me as Stef progressive in her grief journey.
I love that Stef keeps the picture and listens to the message again. You were loved Stef and it wasn't your fault.
This is profound as I said mentioned before.

I really liked this movie! Not only was it spooky - it had elements of 90s horror. Young woman/teen experiencing a difficult situation as well as scary going’s on. The bedroom I am always envious of 😂 Approachable non-threatening lead character. Thank u for a great watch.

@@XDantiaX There is hidden Morse Code throughout the film! The music score is in morse code, the pattern says "hey stef," and the basement sequence is edited in Morse Code with short/longer cuts spelling out "help!"

I loved the movie, but why squish the end credits into 10 seconds?! These are short indie films, we want to support the creators, cast and crew - it's not network TV where the local TV station is rushing to squeeze more ad time before the next programming slot. If you leave the credits on half the screen and play them normally, you'll get that much more exposure time to promote the ALTER merch anyway. Everybody wins.

Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes, or dits and dahs.
You messed up the title.
Volume too low.. ugh
So, a ghost popped up & decided to mess with her pretending she to be her dead friend? Or..Her survivor guilt feelings Manifested into psychological breakdown & she was hallucinating? Surface level it’s a good short, dive any deeper & you start to lose the premise. The volume was too low at times which didn’t help.

@@ms.pugsley Nah. I'm using headphones and have everything set at max volume on my pc. They're practically whispering -the whole- half of the time. The only reason I understood what they were saying was because of the subtitles ffs.
Edit: Corrected my comment. Audio quality gets better halfway through the video.
@@ms.pugsley I do have headphones, but I do not want to damage my ears by constantly using them. Other CZcams videos have a normal audio, Alter has extremely low volume. When I go to another channel afterwards, I constantly have to adjust my volume.
I had headphones on and sound up full and really struggled to hear the dialogue, not good at all 👎
