    The turbolaser gunner in the blue-lined CR-90 deserves a hell of a raise if he survived that one, he used an anti-warship weapon as point defense against concussion missiles. That’s impressive.

      well those are corvettes so their "big guns" are basically the equivalent of secondary duel purpose batteries on a cruiser or battleship. so when looked at that way it makes sense they could track small fast targets. also they typically attack at high speed so they would need gun batteries that could keep up with thier usual drive by style.

    Just watched this video. Not bad, but some criticisms on the video.
    I think you need to speed up the Starfighter combat. The ships seem too slow. They should move much faster.
    The Y wing when they make there bombing run seem way too jerky. They seem to change direction like they’re on a track that pivots at a sharp angle.
    Much more turbo laser fire should be coming from a SD. It should be putting up a wall of incoming fire.
    The Ties seem jerky during flight also. They seem to also be flying too slow.
    The explosions seemed well done, and reminded me of the older movies. I’d definitely keep those.
    It seems like your Star field seems to fade and then get brighter in the next shot. I’d try a more consistent background during your scenes.
    Overall, it was an interesting watch, but watching other videos, and even going back to the original movies, especially ROTJ, the ships are almost blurring the background as they fly. I’d try dialing up the speed, and adding some more tense music, it would definitely help the battle scenes.

      Nope, the astromech's job is to assist in calculating coordinates whilst the pilot concentrates on flying and shooting and storing previously used hyperspace destinations. The pilot himself can make the calculations and input them into the ship's navicomputer but it's quite a bit more difficult that way.

    • @catlady3512
      @catlady3512 Před 2 lety

      Actually, everything was exactly opposite of what you wrote - the VSD was having TIEs deployed as a trap, and was heading to attack rebel base. It used the biggest batteries against the corvettes when those got in range, and basically nullified rebel plan to stop it from attacking the base - at least for now.
      Given the forces, it was a close matchup with some handicap on favour of imperials. Initially, when there were no TIEs, I thougt that the Imperial officer in charge is an idiot - but was quickly proven wrong, when fighters turned out to be deployed and in position, already.

    • @lba_e_ross2152
      @lba_e_ross2152 Před 2 lety

      @@catlady3512 If as you claim it was then that makes no sense. A VSD shouldnt be traveling alone without escort and even if it did deploy fighters it made little difference having them deployed out of position. TIEs are meant to screen against enemy craft getting into close range, alowing the enemy to enter in that close is inviting desaster. Victory Class fall into the Navy Order of Battle of being typicly assigned to a Heavy Squadron so at most it should be in formation with another twenty warships. If the Imperials know where a Rebel base is the whole squadron should be deployed to deal with it.
      It makes no sense for this ship to be traving alone without escort to carry out such an operation, planetary assault requires multiple ships. Not only Navy craft to secure space and air supremacy but also army forces depending on the size of the incursion force. Despite knowing the enemys numbers and plan of attack the Imperials did not have a larger attack force to assure overwhelming dominance on the field to ensure victory, such thinking runs counter to the Tarkin Doctrine and simple logic.
      No it did not, Star Wars weapons are more than capible of firing at longer ranges, the VSD waited unil the enemy was practicly ontop of them to enage. Asuming this is even a Victory I or II the ship should be equipped with concussion missile launchers which add another element to the engagement that was not used that could ahve provided another assured way to break up the enemies formation. The VSD only fires around 5 visible shots per second when in reality it should be firing with all batteries as said which should have several hundred turbolaser and laser blasts firing off at them. The two Corvettes on retreate fly easilly within range of the Victory's tractor beams which could have grabbed them and preveneted retreat but it doesnt, also the Corvettes despire their main advantage being manuverability stupidly charge headfirst at what is a battleship and make no effort to use speed and diatance to harrass the enemy and simply walts right into the VSD.
      Despite winning the opening enagement and having taken no serious dmamage less than half of the origonal attack force is able to just come in, shoot though the shields to take out a tractor beam projector, one ten that should still even then have been able to recapure that ship. In the end the enagement makes all less sense once you realise that this ship hasent even arrived where the Rebel base is. This VSD is just sitting in the middle of nowhere with no escort to eventually jump to where this Rebel base is. Why the Rebels wasted three corvettes stalling here and not using them to load on as many of their personel at base as they could and high tailing it out of there makes the descision on the Rebels even dumber.
      Overall a terrible engagement which shows the continuing ineptness of those trying to portray Star Wars space combat with nonsense setups to show off their megar modeling and voice acting abilities. A poor display

      With such overgrown argumentation, demanding it to be almost a real-life documentary of FICTITIOUS universe, you should take your complains to creators of EVERY.SINGLE.STAR.WARS.MOVIE in existence. There are tons of situation with much *worse* tactical management than this, including most of battle that SW movies are actually based on.
      Pick up most loved episodes on the franchise, and you could write dozen of similar tirades, which, TBH, leaves me shrugging.
      Bottom line:
      Real-life military makes mistakes. Often, to much more grandiose proportions (*cough* Afghanistan *cough* Srebrenica *cough* you name it. Could go on for hours about certain battles from the Battle for Atlantic period, for example, like sinking of Courageous).
      Bottom line 2:
      The critique would be all right, up to the point where you go totally out of line with the rant - I do not buy, do not agree, and have no attention towards your rude attempt to diss the work of the creator on the end of your comment, based on your PERSONAL, and rather SINGULAR dislike - given how much love and work was done here to portray a STORY, not just some random animating bit, you just end up sounding like an entitled brat. If you're so convinced that you could done it tons better - do it. Otherwise, take it and run with it, no one creating the animations owes you ANYTHING.

      How just like modern Star Wars fans to request mediocrety and decry a breakdown of something they like because of mean words said on the internet. Love also how the best thing you can do to refute my comments is to act all offended and say "take your complains to creators of EVERY. SINGLE. STAR. WARS. MOVIE" as if that somehow helps your case. Just because they have their issues, which you have not presented any to back up yours or refute my points, just shows how little your able to come up with any sort of counter for a competent and realistic depiction in an excuse for such a bog standard basic story becuase of how it makes you feeeeel.
      I couldnt care less about your feelings and the fact youve also resorted to those instead of facts just goes to show how much youve lost the point of my comment. The point is that realism and accuracy to the universe is important in story telling, you shreeking "FICTITIOUS universe" as your defense is both laughable and insulting. Good stories can be told in fiction and making that universe belivible is the purpose of not only good writing but good action, otherwhise whats the point? You argue for mediocrity, you sit there and gobble up a trivial story which could in proper execution have been a display of not only the creaters writing skill but of his knowledge and respect for the franchise. People like you who would decry the request for more media to reflect the potential of the universe are exactly why modern media is so medecore. You decry my criticism and rage and scream but you know I am right.
      Your Bottom line is empty of any value, congrats on comparing without substance this enagement or my points in any practical way for your words to have any meaning. As to the second. Guess what? I dont care what you think, you clearly lack any interest in improving media and if your scared of the mild sarcasm I fling your way than dear me you must be more sensitive than a protocol droid, you better get off the internet before someone says something mean.
      As for this, yes I most certainly could not only write a better engagment. I could write out an entire script detailing a system or sector wide rebel conflict what would necisssitate the mobilizing of the Imperial Fleet elements operating within the sector group. I would have buildup, suspense, good tactics on both sides and slip ups in the heat of battle. I would portray the Empire and Rebellion in the way they are ment to be to build upon the legacy of the films and add my own spin alongside being respectful to the lore this story would fit into. Star Wars is a creative palate that can be exploited to its full potential beyond the mediocrity you hold it back in. You dont like my desire for better stories then you can go right back to enjoying schlock like Disney Star Wars and everyhting else of that caliber while I simply sit here and dream bigger for a galaxy far far away.

      To be honest, at this point I am just 100% confident that you like to read your own words (probably hear them too, with the useless tirades), and not have actual conversation. All the things about "helping your case" is just pathetic - like this is some kind of war or trial, or like you would be having a fight, not a conversation.
      Given that all you do is making strawman - when being caught on being wrong, you just go on with different, unrelated complaint - I will leave you as you are with it, feel free to continue the rants. Doesn't change the fact that you're plain wrong (less of an issue, cause you can have whatever head canon you want), and childishly rude about it, on the top (which is the real issue you're having). Happy arguing with yourself!
      If you ever come with any creation of yourself - ANYTHING worth showing to others - which I doubt, as you doesn't make an impression of creative type, rather of a destructive, spoiled brat - feel free to post. Would be fun to compare the reactions.
