  • Long time no posts, but after new player influx I thought I just hop-in and make a frontline idea, and talk over some concepts.
    Please leave suggestions on what you want to see, I'll see if I can cover some of the questions.

    This was very well done. The content was focused and helpful to a beginner. This type of content is limited for BAR! You have my sub, look forward to seeing more from you!

    Your point about either make units or bolster economy can't be overstated. A very important decision to make during games is "do I have enough units to hold my front while I dump resources into expanding my economy?" If you have a comfortable amount of units to hold the line *for now* , then get your t2 mex's up. Later down the line if you're still comfortable at the front, get a fusion reactor or two up. This line of thinking extends throughout the game as you progress. As frontline, you will almost certainly be behind economically compared to your backline players, and that's ok. Your job is to hold the front and progress conservatively but as aggressively as you can possibly manage.

    Raider bot swarm has become one of my favorite tactics. Rush tier 2 and spam out raider bots. They’re so fast and high dps you can just run right through the front line and get into their base and resources. Hard to stop to unless you know it’s coming

    Thanks for the video. I like having the fundamentals shown to me by a knowledgeable person whenever I'm trying to learn something new. This video opened a lot of doors for me.
    I also tend to blank out when the momentum is against me, but I see that having a hedge fund is valuable since you can rebuild metal t1 easily. Maybe I need to find ways to have a backup plan if I get ganked by multiple players
    I would be interested in an air focused video since they seem to be hardest to control but offer the most map-wide utility.
    Btw does everyone hate sea battles or is it just a learning curve?

    I’m a new BAR player. I’ve been practicing against AI in skirmishes and I seem to do better in team games than 1v1. My niche seems to be radar & jammer coverage with rocket arty for base destruction. I’ve noticed that the patrolling feature is crucial for creating get in/ get out raids that require little micro.

    One nasty suggestion for if you're using popup turrets, make a couple of them and litter the area with random wall segments. If the enemy is afraid of the prospect of popups they will have to kill all of the dragons teeth too, which is both annoying and time consuming.

    • @lolsteamroller
      @lolsteamroller  Před rokem

      yeah, i noticed homie (green) doing that, I haven't experimented with that myself, I think my porc game is pretty weak. i think just trying to bait the popups with some units automatically makes units fire, although I think I know the trick on how to discern popups from non-popups.

    • @TheGIGACapitalist
      @TheGIGACapitalist Před rokem

      @@lolsteamroller If you want to be especially nasty you could probably set the popups to return fire and when the enemy walks past them, get the flanking bonus.
      Too much micro for me though, I'd probably forget lol

    Great video! Amazing to see the decision making and where your attention as a player is. Good that it wasn't a perfect slam dunk, it's a real game with mistakes. Great learning exp.
    My key learning is to do more communication with team about who does what. And buying T2 builders instead of going t2 factory

    Beamers / Twin-Guards are great on frontline when facing bot opponent as they match/out-range the rocketeers (sight range is equal their range, but actual range is 5 higher, so park a tick or grunt/pawn/Missile Truck with them for the increased sight-range), whilst also being even better at anti-swarm but not as costly as HLT. Though they are double the price of LLT, as LLT's are outranged by rocketeers they're a waste of resources.

    How do you set up automatic groups? Winter has mentioned it a couple times but I haven't been able to figure it out from the client help.
    For example: I want my all my Sheldons and radar/jammers in group 2 as soon as they l have the factory and pyros and mammoths in group 1

    • @lolsteamroller
      @lolsteamroller  Před rokem +1

      I'll do a video on it, but basically the gist of it is to open skirmish, enable cheats and just set the groups and experiment what works for you.

    Lol, try this in low level lobbies, no one knows what they a re doing, you cant rely on someone to gift you t2 builders, or be able to hold a front with you, or even know simple build orders, this is a tactic only in experienced teams...or luckily someone might know that support is actually a thing. The amount of times ive been fucked over cos someone is hyper focus on building shit so THEY can have the t2 units. fuck frontliners who are putting in the work early, i want juggernaughts!
