Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections was released yesterday and it has a lot of issues one of the big issues is English Dub. The majority of characters don't sound normal compared to the previous installment. They sound rushed, without any emotions, and feel like IA Generated. Hopefully, @BandaiNamcoAmerica @cc2channel will see this and fix it ASAP!

The amount of misinformation in this comment section is scary. Almost none of you have any idea what youre talking about. Let me adress some key issues from what ive read, seen & heard.
1. Its true that Troy is no longer voicing Pain but NSC is actually the first game that fully doubles down on Matthew as the new VA. He was dubbing Pain in previous games as well just not fully due to CC2 neglegance. His lines were heavily mixed with that of Troy.
2. Knowing that this is actually first time we hear Matthew fully doing Pain in ANY video game (Shinobi Strikers also had mixed voice issue) half of the points here makes no sense. Troy is also redubbing Yamato in this very same game so to make an argument that they couldnt bring him back to voice Pain because "hes no longer doing anime" is silly. The voice of Pain was in the hands of Matthew for a while now and thats the reason behind recast that happened YEARS ago.
3. Ive seen some comments adressing same issues with Shisui & Tsunade. This is also incorrect as they are voiced by their original VA's. Although Tsunade had different VA in S1 (and few other smaller games) her voice in Anime & NSC remains the same.
4. I am not sure what this video point is exactly. If you are trying to make an argument that the new voice over is shit (and rightfully so) the last characters you should adress should be Pain, Obito & Sarada who actually after all these years are finally casted properly. Obito is dubbed by Michael in anime however they took Todd in for Revolution. Its true that when S4 was out Michael was brought back to voicing him however plenty of voice lines (especially grunts) were still dubbed by Todd in both unmasked & 6P Version. Sarada on the other hand was always fully dubbed by Laura despite Cherami voicing her in anime. Similary to previous cases she is now doing the voice of Sarada in NSC as well.
If you want to make an argument that the new dub is dogshit then make that argument for the rest of the cast. Its not like JP voices were redubbed as well so there was no need to change English. This isnt S1 to S2 and S2 to S3 situation where every line was changed in both dubs. The director clearly was not doing good enough job and the VA's were completely clueless when dubbing these lines, that goes for the more famous VA's too. I dont know what direction Yuri had when redubbing PTS (kid) Sasuke but his tonation resembles that of an current adult version which is very noticible especially when doing chakra charge & chakra charge to awakaning. Im sure he still can pull off kid Sasuke judging by his relatively recent work in Spiderman. I dont think i can say the same about Maile though whos redub hit even harder, regardless of that its clear literally everyone working on new voices was completely cluess as to where the lines are actually going and how to adress them properly.
Storm always had its issues with dub and its nothing new. None of you clowns were complaining when CC2 cooked you garbage with every Storm and that goes for JP dub as well. All version of Sasuke from shippuden to The Last and even wandering ninja costume (!!!) are using exact same grunts recorded over 15 years ago. Exact same issue with Naruto. Once again if you want to make an argument that redub is bad, someone fucked up and this needs to be fixed (all valid) then you better make sure what the fuck are you even talking about because even if the company would gave a flying fuck about any of the complains with the game they sure as hell wouldnt listen to a bunch of clueless clowns that cant even tell who the voice belongs to and the only metric in which they are judging anything is "if it sounds good".
On a side note i would suggest restraining ourselfs from any comments about AI. Its true that some of them sounds absotely horrific (that Konan line is actually one of the best examples that was also included in video) this might very well be tied up to VA's being completely cluess. Perhaps they were forced to do it during SAG - AFTRA strike or as always they were paid dirt money for hard work they put in so they didnt gaf about it but thats just silly theories and not something that is based in reality, for all i know strike could not include games (especially this trash that can hardly be called that) so all youre doing is throwing meaningless comments. FYI, Matt is also voicing Yamato not Troy. Troy hasn't reprised pain or yamato since UNS3 AFAIK, even in UNS4 it's just archived footage. With Troy being a big name in the industry now, and unionized, it's quite possible that casting just never reached out to him to reprise the roles assuming he'd cost to much, or be too busy. It happens far more often than you'd think... especially in anime games, for some reason. Anyway, whatever the case Matt is a wonderful voice actor no doubt (loved him as COR in FFXV), but there will neve be an english replacement for Troy's portrayal of Pain for me. Although, one of the nice things for me about Naruto in particular, is it's one of the anime I grew up with watching BOTH languages, so I can always alternate if necessary if I want to hear a nostalgic voice. Still though, in the future they'd used archived footage for pain & yamato (if they can't be bothered to reach out to Troy [if that's what happened]), and give Matt his own character. He deserves it.
for those who don’t know this. in UNS4 pain is voiced by troy baker who also voice Yamato. On UNSC pain is voiced by Matthew Mercer. Because Troy baker has a busy schedule

Troy baker rarely appears in much anime nowadays, I don’t personally mind it but I definitely do think it is kind of noticeable
even konan's voice in the ultimate tag team in storm connections hasn't the same potential than she has in storm 4
Ok as much as I like Troy Baker as Pain, but Matt Mercer take on Pain is honestly not that bad. I didn't even notice before that he had to voice over Pain in most Shippuden episodes which made me like him a lot. At least here he shows a bit of emotions, but that doesn't necessarily make him a bad voice cast. It's probs just the voice direction and so far I hate it in Connections. Like with Konan, she sounds dead af

Ykw, after playing through History and Special Story, the english dub isnt as bad as everyone made it out to be -- we just gotta get used to change. However, Maile Flannagan’s Naruto is inconsistent, due to her using her regular voice at times.
Also these Ai or whatever issues is a bit bothersome but not enough to make me ever change the language voices
Pain also first got new lines for Xbox 360 and PS3 Storm Revolution which caught me off guard for the time but I got used to it.

In Storm Revolution I remembered they voice patched Madara to stop sounding like Masked man on Xbox 360 and PS3 while also patching the Out of bounds glitch but you can Delete the update if ya wanted.

Definitely an english dub only issue. And based on the comments, the better VA was busy and the director for the VAs probably had to work around scheduling conflicts and i wouldnt be surprised the strike had something to do with some gaps and availability.

Why aren't people in this comment section frustrated by Pain's new lines? Pain's voice is typically cold, calculated, and scary. This one sounds angry and uncontrolled. Both voice actors are great but they should've kept the original lines from past games to stay true to his character.
Tsunade (English dub) sounds like a legit grandma in this game, and she sounds soo weak which is so out of character. 🥲

Whomever edited these voice lines together during the creation of the game needs to be fired. Why the hell couldn't they just reuse previous storm game voice clips?
To me the voices do not sound to bad but just not as good as the original.
But honestly I might have to play the game to find character voice acting that I do not like.
On the other hand some of the dubbing from what I seen in history mode clips are amoung the biggest issue I have seen with this game.
I was kinda expecting history mode to be like the short story mode in storm generation's that give the Akatsuki a story mode.

I can Tell Pain VA is Human, they were just replaced with a different voice actor. But Konan and Naruto, were definitely AI Generated, I can tell by the lack of emotion and bland delivery in the voices that it’s AI.

Im normally hardcore dub for damn near anything. And whilst i dont have any issues with the dub in the special story, history mode is... rough Even by my standards.
Naruto VS pain is fine in my book. New VA For Pain (Matthew Mercer), but not anything dramatic
Sasuke VS Itachi on the other hand... that one has dialogue so bad, even I of all people gets hurt by it.
Maybe its because i have the dialogue from Storm 2 too imprinted, but good fucking lord, its bad. Orochimaru and Itachi seems to get the worst tho.

WTF, Namco? This is an insult to hard-working voice actors. I'm so glad that Namco don't own Cruis'n, and Nintendo and Midway(Now Raw Thrills) are co-owned. If Cruis'n had been owned by Namco, it would have been a dead IP and later anthropomorphized and gone to the terrible world of 404 GAME RE:SET.

Troy Baker used to voice him, then Matt Mercer did and any subsequent versions of him in the future were voiced by Matt. They replaced Troy Baker as both Yamato AND Pain and no one noticed.
