    Exactly what we’re planning on doing to our fireplace. This is a great help, thank you!!!

      I'll bet you got all the tricks of the trade to do your own installation by watching the "full length" video. But from where the rest of us stand, we only got the 4 3/4 minute brush off. Yhis is NOT what we are looking for.

    Woah! Very nice! Like the foam idea and wall mount for the TV space!

    I just bought an older house and mine looks almost exactly like the before picture. Except that one is in better shape.

    What were the steps to relocating the gas fireplace switch? Love that idea, but not sure how to execute.... Also, I have a marble outline around the fireplace insert. Not sure how to take that off before putting up the faux stone. Any insights?

    Beautiful ! The wall around it now begs for wood panels.

      Wood panels sound good, but I’ll need bosses approval for that. ;-)

    In your material description you had two corners.Where did you use them? You cut the ends on a 45...Thks

    • @caleknopf9319
      @caleknopf9319  Před 3 lety

      I used one pre-made corner on each side. While the 45 degree cuts did not make these necessary, I wanted to see how the manufacturer presented corners. Additionally, I found that by using them I was able to stagger the seams with good material yields.

    What does the inside edge around the fireplace look like? Did you cut 45 degree returns for those edges, also?

    • @criscale3667
      @criscale3667 Před 3 lety

      I did not want to have a jagged inside edge, so I cut it straight, roughed up the edge with a metal file, and used the touch up paint to match the side color with the front. This made it look appropriate. Thanks for watching my video.

    Nice. Where did you get the faux mantle from? I am looking for something very similar to that.

      I made it out of 1x boards. Sorry that I don't have details on this construction, but you can see in the video around 2:05 what the ends looked like without a complete end cap. On the other side, I just capped it completely. I basically painted the ends black and beat them up to look like end grain. I added the splits and distressing myself before staining. I hope that helps.

    What was your cost?

      About 30 seconds into the video I have a cost breakdown of the $800 in materials. I hope that helps.
