I felt the same way about the brand “Squier” and recently purchased a 40th Anniversary gold edition Jazzmaster. Mart Rich peavey roadster or roadstar (something like that, a cheap really loud solid state amp would work), rat, big muff, and whatever effects you’d want to play around with, drumsticks, jazz masters, Jaguars, mustangs, and guitars with unorthodox tunings and string arrangements. Basically, offset (with or without mods, price doesn’t matter too much), really loud solid state amplifiers, tons of effects pedals, and weird creative tunings and playing styles.

The lead circuit uses 1MOhm pots, the rhythm circuit 250kOhm, which alters the Q or treble spike of the pickups. It's really simple, but really effective. Similar in result to the bridge pickup on a strat not having a tone control.
I think the tone capacitor is different too but that has very little effect with the tone all the way up.

The neck pickup in either the lead position or rhythm circuit can be made to sound the same.

It's the same chord sequence, but not the same key. Wonder if Pete got his inspiration there?

I would love it if fender did an alternative reality Brian May inspired guitar. Like a tele custom with a jazzmaster tremolo and Stratocaster pickups and a custom control layout

PETE man, that was awesome!! That pink jazzmaster has serious mojo. Should relick it a bit with a moped, and I bet it would slay everyone ded.

Give me Jazzmasters with the original rhythm circuit over the new Fenders without, *everytime* ! đŸ’Ș
Why would I want less versatility?
And at 1/4th the price?? đŸ€Ż
