I went from jw, to nothing, to evangelical protestant for a time at that age. I figured things out later in life. It should be okay to do that, because it's a way not only to hear the other side, but honestly bolster your faith. To be able to hear people absolutely slam your religion and still say "I get it, but it makes me happy and that's okay" takes a lot of inner strength imo. This person’s reason for being an active JW was given when he explained how he became interested in the JW religion at the very beginning. (1.) He came from a broken family; he was raised by an agnostic single mother. (2.). He had very limited education and no training in any kind of Christian catechesis. (3.). He lacked any relationship with a “father figure” in his life. All these sad facts point to someone who is “easy recruitment” for the JW missionaries. In other words, this person found the closest thing to a “family” at the Kingdom Hall. 😮😮😮😢😢😢. P.S. The good news is that this person isn’t going to make it as a “life-long JW.” He isn’t being censured or accused of apostasy now because he is not a “baptized JW.” When that occurs, the treatment he receives will change. He is already critical of some of the major policies of this “doomsday cult.” Later he will be accused of apostasy. 😊😊😊

He already knows his JW apologetics. Everything can be and will be defended with classics such as "they're just imperfect men, we should try to understand them and be forgiving". Unfortunately, what Astro will learn after baptism is that this doesn't work both ways. When he screws up, no one is going to remember his imperfectness and be forgiving. Different rules for the higher-ups.

He admitted he’s not a “feeling” or “emotional” type experiencer so he might be a just go along with it type, which may be preferred now by the Org. Had he a child who needed a blood transfusion to live, or if he had family held hostage “in” while he was thrown out, he might think twice. But at this step in his own Journey, he may be the future of WT...those who will defend the GB.

This resonated with me a lot. I have a similar background - a chronic mental illness, a complicated childhood, a protective mother. And I also was interested in religion and tried to study several to build the “correct” religion in my head (I’m agnostic now, for what it’s worth). So I really relate to that. Sometimes I wish I could join some church to have a community but honestly all churches in all religions I’ve seen feel too culty and restrictive to me personally. I think the biggest problem with any religion is that people bring children into it - at least adults have a choice and hopefully a developed ability to speak up or leave when something goes wrong. Children are just too vulnerable, they have no defence mechanisms yet. But when it comes to adults - it’s their choice and I can respect that even if it doesn’t feel right to me.

This was priceless. Much respect for this guy. I do think JWs have some excellent biblical arguments and they don't exploit them enough. They don't read the old Watchtower books that went into depth on the subjects anymore so JWs can't even properly define the Trinity but this guy has put his work in. He's still delusional for thinking the Bible is that special but just imagine if this type of JW became mainstream. I don't think it can happen because so many are just born in and will be lazy like the rest of them. I brought up the old jw reformers message boards. I was on H20 religiously for like 5 years from about 1997 to 2002 before it just shut. It was run by Rick who was very strange and hardly participated and moderators with nicknames like Sandman who would only appear once in a while to discuss operations of the website with extremely long posts. But never participated any more than that. They would repeat often anonymity is so important so it was very shadowy and strange but the discussions and debates were awesome. We had Greg Stafford defending jw doctrine and then NWT and we had You Know, Robert King who was a hardcore very judgemental jw that would go full bore at us. Good times. Of course Greg and Robert got df'd for speaking too much and formed their own groups which are basically Russelites with some more modern understanding added. Anyway i wish this guy good luck, he's a good example of what a jw ought to be.

But there's not much of a concern. If he is scolded by any fellow JW for being here, he can reply "and why were you watching the Panda channel?".

I’m in no church at all, love Jesus, or can be so agnostic (free) in my thinking now...my perfect time to read and not so much “study”. I’m reading the Bible kind of as an historic novel...I’m reading it with passion, intrigue, EMOTION, for the very first time without man’s translation and views. Just me! And quite honestly, it is Excellent! It makes me cry, it intrigues me, I relate to the love, the suspense, the drama, the trauma...I absolutely am enthralled! For me any religion or organisation that shuns someone is in total direct contrast of what Jesus would have done. I also believe not being willing to share your blood to save someone's life is against loving your neighbour and spreading the Gospel. Regarding the Trinity, I believe that God lives in us and that Jesus walked the earth and he did speak of our father in heaven. I mainly focus on Jesus directing us to love our neighbour and spreading peace, love and truth. I try not do go much deeper than this what he told us to do.

But I'm sorry to remind you that when you get baptized one of the questions you have to answer affirmatively is "Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?" (In 2019 they took the last part out). And they make a point to remind everyone that the meaning of that question is that you have to see everything the GB provides as it was coming directly from god (Again, the same question prior to 2019 or later, it doesn't change the point at all). I’m only at 13:40 and I had to pause the video. The kids rationale is (so far) the exact mindset that I had, what kept me in the church for too long - and what eventually got me out.
Then he said he’s also (also as in ‘like me’, lol) autistic and developmentally delayed!? 😶😦🙌🏼 Alright, heading back in; this kids cool.

I can see where he’s coming from with orthodoxy not matching up with what critical scholars like Ehrman have discovered about the text, but the idea of going to the JWs who base their ideas off crazy numerology and pyramid inches and stuff is crazy. It’s sad to learn that he’s yet another vulnerable person brought into a cult.

    8:40.
You've definitely got a great point about Protestants, Astro. There are quite a few Christian doctrines they believe that are not clearly defined/explained in the Bible (not to say that they're not there, they're just unclear). Many of these types of doctrines the Protestants get from the Catholic Church, which is false in their eyes. If the Bible is the only authority, then everything in should be CLEARLY defined right? Otherwise, any human being can have their own interpretation, but then they end up contradicting each other, which creates all these opposing denominations.
I will be praying for you that God guides you to the truth. I know you said you were open to changing your mind/being convinced otherwise, but personally I'd recommend asking God where He wants you to be. (If He's God, He knows the truth, and where He wants you), and perhaps studying the origins of Christianity, and where so many of these beliefs and doctrines originated from.

I kinda wonder why his baptism has been postponed 3 times. I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding off because he's a bright and independent mind. He's looking to be part of a community who can be honest and direct with him, but I think he's missing alot of their internal unspoken rules. He doesn't realize he's not really "in" until he can't back out. I'm glad his mom isn't in this religion, and I worry their last test will be to make him cut her off of completely

If JW's are right and everyone else is wrong, I can reconcile being incorrect and being just dead when I die. But can JW's really be happy knowing if they're wrong, the bible teaches they're going to the lake of fire. Astro, don't just do you, research a bit more, run from that cult and keep on running to the real Jesus, not some made up creation of the Watchtower

Yes. As a JW recruit in the 70’s, I overlooked so many red flags, fell in love with the brothers and sisters, loved the attention...it was AFTER baptism I learned and then, having children, learned to say “no more!”to the craziness of some doctrines and got tossed. He, being without “feeling” as he said, and no family “in”, may do fine. Up to him.

I accept that people make mistakes, including the governing body. But where I have problems is when people don't admit mistakes and change. Unfortunately, that's exactly what they do. See the doctrine of 1914, which is biblically untenable.

You can have a relationship with your Creator without religion. Religion is a artificial substitute for true Spirituality.
The creator of the universe is universal.
    No religion is universal.
The creator of the universe is not religious.
    Religion is Division
    God is ONE.

Great job my brother i grew up in the Greek congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses totally agree with you regarding the Greek. For example even in Acts 5:29 the kjv adds other in italics because context allows for it dispite the word [other] not being in the Greek main text. Greek is very context base and is heavily relying on context.
Regarding Jehovahs name in the Greek scriptures and Jesus use of it:
To say Jesus didn't use his father's name is to say: Jesus encouraged the human tradition of not pronouncing it.
However, Jesus at Mark 7 calls out the jewish traditions and names several things in the context of Mark 7, note in verse 13 Jesus says those traditions make the word of God invalid and then adds "and many things similar to this you do" that is, traditions that invalidate Gods word not mentioned in the context.
So it would NOT make sense if Jesus condemned those traditions but perpetuate the tradition of not pronouncing his Fathers name, especially since there were further traditions Jesus alludes to in verse 13.
Beautiful interview! Beautiful channel; dont always love everything lol but hey we gotta do what we gotta do. In the end we are all going to be amazed at Jehovah’s Love for all his children and humbled at how foolish we all were in our judgments of others, including witnesses judging others within and outside and those outside judging the organization.
Were all so broken. I know i am lol

Archaeology is the reason why to choose the Bible over the Quran etc, but when it comes to Jerusalem, prioritize the Bible over archaeology. So which is it? Does archaeology affirm the Bible, or do you have to choose the Bible first?
