    I own a '69 Princeton Reverb, '78 Princeton Reverb and a '72 Deluxe Reverb and my Quilter Superblock US can get me at least 99% of the way to their tone through my 112 cab w/ Eminence Legend 1258 speaker. Over my 50 years of playing I've gone through too many tube amps to list and never bonded with any solid state amps other than the old Peavey bandit amps which were pretty great IMO, but the Quilter is another story. I'm sold on what they have achieved.

    I've known about Quilter amps or about 8 years. I was about to buy the 100 watt Mach 2 8" combo. It was a little over my budget at the time. Then The Aviator Cub 50 watt came out at a very reasonable price and I got one right away. I've had it since June of 2021. I couldn't be happier with it. It's light, responsive and does a lot of things one tube amp can't do.

    Great video Jack. Absolute truth to the quality of Quilter’s Customer Service. Pretty sure I’m one of the “crows” Chris referred to. I called when I received my Mach 3 head due to an FX Loop issue (M3 owners will know what I’m talking about). A few phone calls back and forth with Chris himself and it was solved.

    I own a aviator cub and gigged with it for over a year. That amp made me sell my blues Jr. Roland blues cube, and a dsl 40c.

    Bought a Tone Block 202 a couple years back and still can’t believe how good it sounds. I literally have not touched my tubes amps since. I emailed some questions and both Mr Parks and Mr Quilter responded. Great products and great company.

    A favorite guitar player of mine from northern California in the 80s played a Bantam and got killer tones out of it. One setting, one tone, but it was killer. RIP Bob D.

    I have a Quilter Travis Toy amp/combo and love it for lap steel and guitar. It's a very great sounding amp and I couldn't be happier. My other amp is a Magnate panorama stereo. I love both, but the Quilter is great for live performances.

    Great interview and tour! I'm a tube amp kid from the 60s and 70s. Fast forward to the 21st century and I now play guitar exclusively through the Quilter 101R mini and a Superblock US. Run them through a Mojotone Lite Cabinet 1x12 with Celestion Neo Creamback G12 at 60. The future is here and Quilter is leading way. Tubes are going the way of the dinosaur...

    I've owned a blackface Bandmaster, Brownface Concert and a teal stripe Bandit and loved them all but always wished for a small, light head with lots of power and similar clean tone. I now own three Mini 101s. It takes a little more time to mate them up to the right cab and speakers but after that they are 95% there to my vintage Fenders and superior to my Bandit! I'm an all in Quilter guy!

  • @thedevilinthecircuit1414

    Been playing the Aviator for about 10 years now and love it. I always get weird looks when I tell guitar players there are no tubes in there.

    The name Quilter I'm familiar with since I was a kid in a the 70s messing around with amps in the UK ( ouch ! 240v hurts !) as everything solid state back then was HH Electronics of Cambridge and their Valvesound used by a lot of famous bands at the time. Back in those days the name featured after Quilter had modded the Baxandall tone circuit in preamps to a single transistor per stage stack and the Bailey Burrows Quilter tone circuit and Hart Electronics preamp kit was born for the Quad 303 around 1971 and never saw any other Quilter product here until recently . I'm guessing that the original electronics engineer Quilter , has been with the God of Solid State tone for many years and the name was used by this company to revive the memory of a great engineer with no actual connection or maybe I'm wrong . Are they one and the same ?

    I love tube amps but you’ve got to play em loud to sound good. My wife doesn’t like that so I went for a modelling amp ( Fender Mustang III)These Quilter amps are top notch though, my buddy has one. Wish I would have bought that Aviator.

    I have one of the first-generation MicroPro 200-8s. Great little amp, and it weighs 20 pounds! Unfortunately, I got it not long before my hips and knees went bad, so I’ve never gigged with it-I can’t walk anymore, and stages aren’t wheelchair-accesible for the most part. If I ever get some mobility back I’ll get a Mach 3! I may just get one anyway…

    Those amps are really hard to find in Europe .... I admit I am a bit concerned by the fact that the entire line is made in China now ...
    I had the very first version of the Micro Pro with the wooden cabinet, made in USA, it never let me down during the 6 years I had it.... I was dumb enough to sell it for those very expensive Kemper stuff and it was a real mistake.
    Now that I want another Quilter Combo, I find out the line is made in China , but was do all those people do in the factory ? it is written made in china on all the products, so what do they do in the US factory ? Checking the stuff made in China ? Those are great sounding amps, and I will get one, it's pretty sure. I really like the prototype look at 18:30. I understand it's more practical to have the controls on the top of a combo, but it's way better looking when it is on the front ....

    Not buying it! What are your qualifications to make the statements you are making regarding electrical performance? Especially the ones pertaining to tube amp performance vs solid state, and voltage levels in various venues. Where are the sound samples? Just sounds like all a bunch of sales hype.

    • @dustylense
      @dustylense Před rokem +1

      Play a Quilter and you will realize. I own some really nice tube amps. Magnatone panoramic stereo, Mesa lonestar, Mesa MK5:25, Custom deluxe reverb and my Quilters (101r, mach 2 and mach 3) smoke ALL OF THEM.. As for qualifications...Pat Quilter is the man that started QSC. Ya know, when you go to a concert, you are most likely hearing QSC designed PA array systems.

    • @picker63028
      @picker63028 Před rokem

      @@dustylense Let's not compare sound reinforcement to the guitarist playing through a 4x12 or a massive pedalboard. We are listening to that guitar and as players consider the source. I have 2 quilters and several Fender and Peavey tube and transistor amps. Each has it's own sound and character. My Boss Katana and Fender Mustang 111 and a ToneMaster Twin are usable lightweight amps but none of these replace my Tube Twins. A player will try everything to see what works but in the end personal choice is reality.
