John B. has been the David defeating multiple Goliath's for decades now! No Tattoos, No "BAD ASS" persona, no taunting or games just straight brute strength by a true professional
Definitely NOT brute strength. He's got amazing technique to go with incredible speed and strength. The guy he defeated in this video is all brute strength.
It's technique, experiance and specific strength. Arm Wrestlers train the forearm, wrist, supination very very hard. It's more to do with special exercises with weights not necessary full curls. In Desdlifting or strong man this guy would defeat John not in this area though.
Literally insane. One of the videos has Lars as the last match, but who knows what truly went down. It's crazy to beat Lars alone let alone after 1, 2, 3 pullers. But this is John Brzenk we are talking about, so we aren't surprised
Just reading the comments I thought I would bump these facts to the top: - The strong man, Lars Rørbakken, used to be a professional arm wrestler. He came second in Europe in arm wrestling in 2007 in the 110kg + category (super heavy weight?) - His technique is fine, it's not an excuse as to why he lost to Brzenk. He knows how to arm wrestle. - He didn't get "cheated" somehow by a weaker, but more experienced opponent. He got beaten by a stronger, smarter opponent. - To win he needs to improve his strength in the areas that are important for arm wrestling - For a real "strong man vs arm wrestler" contest where the strong man doesn't know arm wrestling, look at Devon Larret vs The Mountain. No contest.
I meant Eddie Hall would do much better than the Mountain. He wouldn't win I thing, but the compactness and insane weights he lifts, are going to translate somehow. A Gorilla doesn't arm wrestle either, but ....
I love how John looks like some random dad that they picked from the crowd and yet the giant on the other side of the table is squirming under his grip.
@@bloroxcleach3439 vice versa cyplenkov also beats him oh he also killed john at the left and didnt even win once while denis won brzenk at the right arm
The title is so misleading because this guy is Lars Rorbakken, average strongman but pretty good armwrestler!!! Guys look, he used unusual and deadly technique (dead wrist) which is very difficult to escape. Do you think strongman is able to do this with that kinda power? No. Only proffesional armwrestler with propper training can do that. Average strongman would lost in about 2 seconds.
+John “Kakiszaron” Bean Not at all. Tricep power is unefective vs a top roll. Brzenk beat him only with technique, in the top roll your using all your arm and body, it doesn't matter how strong you are it won't work if your fingers are controled with ease, it was just a matter of time. Very bad strategy from "strong man" this proved him a rookie.
tomojulitaiga I disagree with you. Tricep power+flop wrist is very efficient If you fight against top roller. But you have to have the strength and technique to do this correctly. I've seen alot of matches where top roller lost because his opponent used tricep press with flop wrist. Lars Rorbakken has only one technique-flop wrist press. I've never seen him in a hook or in a top roll because he propably suck in it, that's why he sticks to only one technique. If Lars would try to hook John or top roll him he would lost in the blink of an eye :D
If you want to see how a pro uses the propper technique check Haugland out. This guy is a strong rookie that probably just tsudied the basics. HE IS NOT A PRO.
tomojulitaiga I know Frode Haugland and I've seen a lot of his matches in arm wars when he lost his wrist but he won because of his tricep stregth and technique.
This is a PERFECT example of a VERY strong man that actually knows how to armwrestle VS the greatest of all time. Lars is 100 lbs heavier than John, has incredible muscle strength...and has a specialization in arm wrestling to strengthen those specific muscles. John recognized this and knew he had the stronger wrist and forearm and played him until he tired out.
John Brzenk is a legend. I wish more American athletes would eat a slice of his humble pie. I mean, the dude dominates the sport of Armwrestling, where I could EXPECT the same sort of bravado and machismo that comes from most other athletes, but this guy is all class!
Kim Rhode, Pete Sampras, Kristen Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, Malcolm Smith.... The list goes on. For every showboat there's a humble person kicking ass. Ok, the ratio is more likely 5:1, but plenty to appreciate.
These beasts are powerlifters, not armwrestlers, john been armwrestling his whole life, he would even come close to hitting this guys powerlifting numbers
Lars is a strongman, but title is slightly misleading, because Lars is also former european arm wrestling champion…. He is no John Brzenk, but he got some insane underarms, and his wrist is nowhere near breaking, he trains arm wrestling all the the time, and is signed up for arm wars in las vegas in sept….
Hey, that's Lars Rørbakken! ^^ Not all that surprised that Brzenk won, 'cause he is pretty much unbeatable. Lars was european arm wrestling champion, so I know he knows something about this sport as well. Did good in the strong man competitions here in Norway too.
@Alex Croton they are both armwrestlers. That strongman (Lars), used to be a pro armwrestler himself, ranking 2nd in Europe 2007. Brznk was just pulling hos A-game, as he used to. And smart as hell.
people saying strongman without technique, but lars robakken has lots of strenght in the flop wrist position, he always armwrestles like that, and that is indeed not the first time he armwrestles
Al ver este video me pregunte ¿cómo era capaz un strongman de tener tal técnica? Y luego supe que se trataba de Lars Rorbakken un armwrestler noruego y claro también strongman
If someone offered me a hundred bucks to arm wrestle one of these men I probably would have to decline. If I had bad posture in relation to my arm, they would snap my arm and I would be in a cast..

If you notice John let's up a but near the end when his opponent falls to the ground... and the reason he let up a bit was to prevent breaking his opponents arm which has a high probability when you beat your opponent holding an awkward position.
Yes, this exactly what happens, and it it also forces John to slowly finish instead of a burst finish, and a slow finish is harder, which is why John's slow finish touch was draining on him, but done so to prevent an arm break
everybody, no matter if it's an olympic powerlifter or strongman or bodubuider - they would easily lost to any armwrestler (even a lightweight), if they haven't train for armwrestling. No matter how strong Brian Shaw or Savickas or Pudzianowski are, because they don't do a movements of armwrestler's kind
szymusiek1980 What about former worlds strongest man Magnus Samuelsson? he used to compete in armwrestling before the stronman competitions I wonder how he'd do in armwrestling today, he's getting older of course but he's definetly alot stronger and bigger now than when he competed in arm wrestling.
Johan Sandberg he is bigger than he was in 1995 being slim, cuz the size gives a general strength (like at strongman competition). But it doesn't give anything to armwrestling, which rely on arm force, well maybe bigger biceps helps a bit. If he doesn't train for armwrestling, he must be weaker than when he competed
szymusiek1980 It's foolish to say anybody would lose to even a lightweight arm wrestler. Technique is important, but it doesn't make strength and weight meaningless. Brzenk, one of the world's best armwrestlers and 200+lb, clearly had to fight for it against this strongman. The strongman would definitely beat a far less skilled, less strong and less heavy arm wrestler.
***** Well Lars Rørbakken isn't just a strongman, he's also an armwrestler, a very technical one to boot! In this video he's using some techniques that only a small percentage of armwrestlers can pull off. So this video shouldn't really be called an armwrestler vs strongman. If John went up against someone who was just a pure strongman. Even if it was someone like Brian Shaw or Savickas, it would be over as soon as the referee said "go".
Tells only that you are biased as hell + no clue even what technique even means in this sport. Lars Roerbakken is an experienced armwrestler and nothing wrong with his technique.
Bullshit.. He was 2nd in +110 kg category, European Championships 10 years ago and you think he is not a pro.. lol. The only way he can be better is to gain arm holding strength.
The 'Strongman' is Lars Rørbakken - He is quite an accomplished arm wrestler him self from Norway. If you are interested in arm wrestling, I would suggest the documentary Pulling John, i believe it is on Netflix.
John is the Fedor Emilianenko of arm wrestling.. Undefeated for years, considered the best by many, respects his opponents as well as the sport, never shows off any 'attitude'.. This is how to be competitive with style!
