Hey Matt, the shields that aku enemies own regenerate when the enemy is knockbacked. Just like barriers, you can counter shields with cats that have an ability called "Shield Piercing". Sadly there are only 2 cats that have this ability, but in the next update you can give talents to Li'l Macho Legs and Divine Kai that can give the ability.
The aku trait makes enemies have a shield that recovers after getting knocked back (not sure if a cat with the knock back ability can help with that) and also makes them lack the floating trait (like angel).
Whenever I hear Aku, I can only ever think of Samurai Jack. Edit: Also Matt, Sarukani's (Rockstars) true form is THE BEST Uber against Winged Pigge. Sarukani has weaken immunity and Winged Pigge has 90% atk down so any unit hit by the weaken will do like 1/10 damage, they also have omnistrike so where they're hitting from is not their maximum range. It's like long-range, but shorter and has no minimum opening
2:07 I have kuwagata and he is so strong he can survive a sloth attack I just want the other one called kabuto. also you can get nets from Summer break cats and I did that to get kuwagata after you do 1 stage you have to wait 30 minutes but you can skip the wait with catamin A and I am know you have and can buy lots of those but when you did the stage it unlocked special stages you need to wait 3 hours to do but you can get superior stage if you really lucky. normal stage if you are not that lucky.And inferior if you are unlucky
I don’t know if someone has said it but, there are now 1 new aku uncanny legends stage and 3 different anti aku ubers one in dynamites one in war gods and a guy named amakusa shirou from who knows where. And a new boss with surge and for some reason a new cat fruit used for nymph cat other random stuff like okoruga first new level aku is a ancient curse but with aku units and that some aku units when they die they can do surge attacks that’s it note this 10.9 so this is in the jp version only until who knows when
Matt, Akus have shields just like starred aliens, but starred aliens barriers need one shot damage to break the barrier, but in the Aku shield, you can damage the shield until it breaks. But the catch is, if you break the shield, then they get knocked back(not the knockback ability), they can regenerate their shield at a certain amount. The process repeats depending on the number of their knockbacks. Somewhat annoying but there will be cats that will help you to "shield piercing".

I just beat maniac eraser i used cyber punk for slow and gladios to knock back the eraser. And i was useing meat shields and i used maximum for capy and pizza cat for the black gorys and to top the iceing on the cake i used the 6th angel cat aka one of the best anti floating ubers in the game for the owl brows and kasli for damage + i used crazed bahamut cat for good damage
Matt, there is so much more to Aku now. I recommend checking out youtuber videos over the topic like Anwar04's videos. Also, the way the Aku barrier works is that it breaks after taking a certain amount of damage rather than one damage all at once like what starred aliens do. Their shield also regenerates. Barrier breakers don't work on them though, that is why PONOS introduced a new ability called "piercing" which is specifically to take down Aku shield.
Matt when you get to the later ul stages there's two enemies that are pain to fight gobble and zarollw one is floating the other is a zombie but the both deal toxic damage their is a few units that have toxic immunity

The cats that kill all enemies with a trait are good against aku if you do enough of those amusing stages you can do aku cat and axe and tank keep doing those stages

Once you get a partner, you can do a lot more things. Theres even a rich costumer wich only takes warm coffe from boss beggar and he gives 10× more cash! Play it now!!!

Thankfully, it was tested that any proc knockback on aku won't regenrate the shield if it is broken
