Ultraviolet was too ahead of it's time. One of my favourite albums ever (although the others had their moments too). Such a great band, in all lineups :)
Lost count the amount of times I've been to their gogs. Loved every one whatever the iteration. Are with one of the above comments about Ultraviolet being ahead of it's time. I was guilty of not getting it, now, well .... I love it. Just have to add 11.53, have you ever seen more beauty ❤❤
Too much of a change for me I'm afraid...I'd followed them from the get go, but when i went to see them at the Marquee on Charing Cross Road when this album was launched.... too much of a change. Still.... I guess they know that now. A lot of water under the bridge since then and you can only make the decisions that you think you can at the time with the information that you can. Much as being a new generation Fleetwood Mac may have turned Julianne off.... it may have sustained their careers. immaterial now though.
In hindsight, maybe the best way for them to have gone is to drop the AAE name and rebrand themselves as the band 'Ultraviolet', with this being their self-titled debut album. Y'know, they could have carried on into the 90s, Marty in tow. Don't mention 'Mice' which was too much of a Sleeper rip-off with a cheap brittle sounding production.
